Easy Does It

It's a nice community. Right now, like many of them, they appear to be understaffed. Especially the managers seem to have to be pushing double duty. But the people are very nice, and the management is good. The care for the most part is good. My loved one is getting more and more comfortable there. They've been very accommodating and helpful with any concerns we've had.

It was a safe place and homey

Our loved one was only there for two months so we did not get much feedback regarding the meals and the activities were shut down due to the covid restrictions. However, we liked how all of the residents were segregated and we would recommend Fox Trial community to others.

Appreciating Fox Trail's Efforts

I would highly recommend Fox Trail. It's an older facility, built in the 80s maybe, so don't expect the most modern amenities. But that's not what 's critical. It's the staff and how they're taking care of the patients. And I have every confidence they have done that to the best of their ability. When my loved one was moving in, his room was impeccably clean. But then there was a reduction in staff, and it was not as clean. The public areas have always been impeccable, but I would have liked his bathroom to be cleaner. The people there were very friendly, very attentive, and most of the staff was really, really good. As an example of how much my loved one appreciated them - when we left, he gave corsages to every staff member, including the men to give to their wives, as a thank you. He loved to give flowers to people. When he talked about the food, he would tell me that certain foods were good - he loved their breakfasts. Some meals he liked a lot. Comfort foods like beef stew and chicken and dumplings were his favorites. And other meals he liked less, which is pretty typical of just about anybody. They had been without an activities manager for some time, and they just hired one shortly before we left. I was impressed with the young woman they hired. She had all kinds of plans. The senior staff, especially the director, was outstanding. On the 1-5 scale, I'd give her a 7. She was direct, she always called me if she had a question, and she always let me know what was going on. She and I got along very well. She was great with the residents, and she was willing to get down and wash the floors like the rest of the staff. She was willing to roll up her sleeves and do anything and was very friendly with anybody she came across. One of the staff members who helped us move in said she would work 7 days a week for this director, that she had been there forever and was very happy there. When you hear staff talk about a boss that way, that really says something. Not too many of us can do that. I was impressed with the value - I thought the cost was very reasonable considering what they had to do for my loved one. And in comparison to friends with husbands in other facilities, Fox Trail was less by several thousand dollars. When we left, I told the director we'd see them in about six months. I know my loved one's health is going to go downhill again, and I would definitely take him back there.

My Review of Atria Weston Place

They made some promises and they didn't come true. The staff explained my loved one would be in quarantine for 2 weeks. Anytime a resident left they had to do this quarantine period. The residents were on lock down and gave falsehood. of this. The people were friendly and the food was good at the community.

The apartments are huge. The whole facility is huge which I'm not sure is appropriate for my mom at this time. It was quite a hike to get from the main activity area (dining, therapies, activities, outdoor patio which was huge) to what would be her apartment. It's a refurbished Holiday Inn which at first I was skeptical of but it is really nice and they've done a great job. Except for the hallway to the individual apartments was really dark and had an old hotel vibe which I personally found creepy. But there were a lot of residents with their doors propped open who would wave as you walked by. It's right next to Olathe Medical Center which is awesome. Also right next to I-35 which I was worried about noise but I heard none when I was in the apartment model. It smelled clean so it passed the sniff test. Right now this is at or near the top of the list.

Atria

Atria was very nice and the people friendly and helpful. I feel some things as far as extra care increases were added on without discussions. Because of the pandemic it isn't a prefect time to be there. My mom has gone downhill since being there and we had to get a 24 hr aide. We are moving her out and into a house with my sister and aide. It's become much too expensive and lonely staying in a small room 24 hrs a day.

The New Kid On the Block

We learned of Atria from a friend that recently had a family member move into the Assisted Living community. After a couple of visits including one with our mother we felt this was the place that Mom would find comfort. [name removed] at Atria was a blessing in providing a caring, compassionate and professional experience throughout the entire process! Mom has been there now for almost a month and speaks of her positive experiences and highly of the staff. A warm and friendly staff. A special thank you to [name removed]!

Feels Like Family

My mom loves this community. She went originally for respite care, and went back 6 months later. My mom has now been there for 4 years. The community started out with assisted living, and as time has gone on the community is taking all types of residents. Travanse started to use an agency to help staff the community. The rooms are like a Holiday Inn rooms. The last year has seen renovations of the community. The management team keeps changing. There has also seen some turnover of other staff. This is a one rate type of community. The community will make the residents bed and do their laundry. No matter the care, the rate has stayed the same for my mom. They've had different parties to celebrate different items. The community tries to get the residents to dress up for Halloween. The community even has exercise classes for the residents to participate in. The staff has always been friendly and have helped my mom. I would recommend this community to others, even those that are in wheelchairs. The dining room is starting to open back up. They also have an independent living area that has recently opened up.

Daughter

We chose Atria Penfield because when we went here, they wanted to know all about my mom. They didn't talk to her about her finances until after the 3rd visit, you could tell they just really cared about her. The room sizes are on the smaller side, but you are able to pay more and get other options. Before COVID the food was better, but has since declined because it is not as fresh and hot. I would recommend to a friend or family member.

Overall great community

Pre COVID the activities they offered were trivia games, and movie nights. During COVID the staff comes around their rooms with activity sheets. The food at this community is excellent, they have a central lobby where the residents can all gather. The rooms at thos community are good size.

I would recommend

We chose this community because of the location, also it was more reasonably priced than some others we looked into. The independent living needs updating, the lobby looks nice but then down the hallways need some updates. The room sizes in independent living are pretty small, they do offer larger room sizes though. The food was good, there was variety and they are able to send the food to the rooms if you do not want to go to the dining room. The distance from my parents room to the dining room was exhausting, especially with limited mobility. My favorite part about the community is the staff and the activities provided. Overall, it had a great atmosphere.

Plenty of activities and social life

Heritage oaks brings in entertainment to sing to the residents, they would play the guitar and piano a couple times a week. Every holiday period they had a party/formal event. There would be food, and punch. For New Years Eve they would drop balloons from the ceiling. They have Wii bowling, exercise classes, and an arts and crafts room. Occasional movie nights. The rooms they have there are nice, some had large bedrooms and living rooms with large closets. It is a little expensive, but a great value. Dining room is always open to the residents and their families. They had a salad bar, the food could of used some improvements, but plenty of food provided all day long.

Great place for what my father needs

We chose this community because my dad does not need a lot of services at this point in time, but in the future with his diagnosis he can get care in here when he needs it without having to move. The studio apartment he is in is very spacious. My dad says the food is very good. I would definitely recommend.

Good place for senior living

We chose this community because of the location. Out of the facilities we did look at, this facility was very nice for the cost. Our favorite part about it was the staff, they work hard to get themselves antiquated to the residents there and worked hard to keep it clean. They are also known for their cuisine, it is restaurant style dining and very good food.
