Poor

Things started out good, but they have gone through a series of different ownership. Apparently they're in financial difficulty and have cut all their services. By the time we left, I would rate the dining room at poor to fair. Cleanliness was very poor. My family member's contract included weekly house cleaning, and it reached a point that the only way he would get it is if I called and demanded it. At one point, they went three weeks with no one coming in to clean up or change linens. The facility had been redecorated, and it was not a homey atmosphere. All the carpets came out. They put in phony hardwood floors but never cleaned them. They always looked dirty. They downgraded pretty much everything, including the staff and the staff's pay. So the majority of the people left. And they were left with just a skeleton crew. It just go the point that it was not a good idea for my family member to stay there. When we left, they had a 30% vacancy rate, which is huge for nursing homes nowadays.

Not a good experience

There is a lack of respect for elderly people at Atria Penfield. I didn't see any aids in the hallway caring for people, the only people I saw were staff with the medicine carts. I ended up moving out because of this reason. I would not recommend to others looking.

They should give you a full breakfast in the dining room for the money being spent

The staff members are very friendly and the community is very clean. Everything there was very good except for the food, especially for the money that is being spent. For breakfast you would go down to the counter, they would give you a coffee and a snack bag that had either a cereal box or an apple. For lunch you would do the same thing go down to the counter and they would give you a snack bag with either a ham sandwich, PB&J, or a turkey sandwich. For dinner, you were able to sit at a table in the dining room where you can order a few things off of a menu. One night they had chicken parmesan which I ordered. I got a slab of chicken with cheese that was not melted. The cooks there are not good at all, they need to be paid more so they can make better food.

I would not leave my mom there

In the beginning the food was great, but then it just went downhill. For the activities you have to sign up and the sign up sheet is on the first floor so if you live on any other floors you will probably miss singing up. We think that the overall management needs to be looked at, our loved one was only there for a short time and the seniors were just not treated like adults. The atmosphere was very chaotic and it seemed understaffed. the activities and dining hall was in the basement which caused our loved one to get sick from the moisture. It was not our first choice, just seemed to chaotic and not well managed.

Very disappointed

We have had very limited experience with this community, we paid all of our fees up front, and our loved one had very server onset of dementia. He was only there for a week when we were told he needs to be sent to another facility. During that week at the new facility he came down with severe pneumonia, and had to be transferred to a third facility. He was only at the third facility for a week and then he passed away. We still have not received our loved one belongings and we just have a vast negative feeling towards Travanse .

It’s a scam. Like road runner trying to make it through that False picture.

I’ve seen people go into the memory unit confused and worried, and the next day they’re zombified with big gashes on there forehead. Like [name removed] for example. They don’t know what they’re doing. I also witness a lot of bullying here. Beyond all that, the list goes on. The amount of things I have seen here is crazy. It’s scary speaking out, but don’t come here. It’s a scam. Pay 7k a month and still have to pay more for assistance at an assisted living. This is not even the tip of the iceberg. Can’t wait for my mother to be out of this place.

Not to be recommended if you have any other plausible choice.

I note that no reviews have been posted since 2015. There is a reason for this. The place has definitely deteriorated since then - both in terms of physical maintenance (grounds poorly kept - and no air conditioning!). Short staffed. No actiities. Terrible food. The second floor, housing persons with very significant cognitive impairment, reeks of urine when the door is open. This place cannot be recommended.

Do not send your family member there

Beautiful building. The director at the florence location is clueless on how to do her job. But makes sense considering she was originally marketing. They get good staff in and all leave because the management is useless and not helpful at all. They will lie to you and your family to get you in the door and take your money. That's all they want. Dont count on getting anything promised. Carpets gross, rooms are gross DUSTY AND MOLDY. Attitudes of staff are sickening. They care about nothing or nobody around there. They are always short staffed and residents do not get the proper care they deserve. Majority of the residents need to be in a long term nursing facility but they want that money so get them in the door. Meds are not given like they should be. Packs and packs of pills are collected daily from apartments that weren't given like they should be. The only manager worth a damn there is activities director. She does a great job and definitely earns her paycheck. It's not worth the money to live there. They really need someone to go in and walk the management team out and start over. They are running that place into the ground.

Do Not Recommend ELMCROFT

After two months lliving at this community I can honestly say that I feel it leaves a lot to be desired. It has been a very disappointing experience for me. After visiting several communities I chose to come here and have regretted my choice. The community does not seem to have good leadership, the food is a disgrace, does not seem to be the cleanest around and lacks much in the activities department, but the activities director is great and works hard to make things happen. The aides that have cared for me have been great and do their job well. Have been without transportation to get around, with a promise that new transportation is coming soon but it hasn’t happened yet. I certainly would not recommend Elmcroft to others.

Avoid!

This place started out great at first. However, with staff changes it has gone completely down hill. Patients in memory care are not regularly changed or bathed. Disgusting. The aids have little to none training in talking to seniors and don't seem to care much at all about their well-being! I would keep looking. For what you pay, you are only getting meals and a locked building.

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO LEGACY AT MAIDEN PARK IN GREECE, NY.

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO LEGACY AT MAIDEN PARK IN GREECE, NY. My husband was there for 3 months. I missed 4 days out of 3 months of going to see him. He eloped 2 weeks after his admittance and again shortly thereafter. The facility advertises "safe and secure". So far from the truth you can't believe! The second time he eloped was at 11:26 PM in 20 degree temperatures. How long did it take before he was brought in? Your guess is as good as mine. I have had conflicting timetables! We have been refused to see the tape which tells us someone is "hiding" great information. Two employees were sent out to find him of which they reported him "running". Can you picture a 90 year old man that walks with a cane "running"? When he finally was brought in, it was reported he was cold and chilled. Administration said "he was warmed" and "OK". They also used the excuse "it was change of shifts" and that is why it took longer to go after him. Of course I was not aware of any of this until 9:00 AM the next day! Why wasn't he taken to the hospital to be checked out, not even his Doctor was called. Due to neglect of "Legacy at Maiden Park", Administration called a meeting between them and our family the following Friday. They "kicked him out"! Their words were "he needs a higher level of care than what they can give him". On April 8, 2018 (Sunday after last elopement and meeting), I with other family members and friends, went to visit him only to find him very lethargic and behaving abnormally. We had difficulting waking him, he was walking very slow, his speech was slow and didn't make sense. We asked for a nurse to come and then we questioned what meds he was given. She stated she was a nurse, but we later found out she was only a med tech. (Earlier that day we asked for him to be checked for a UTI.) At that point we asked that an ambulance be called because no one there was doing anything to evaluate him. And this is called "memory care"? NO WAY !!! Alzheimer residents do not need nursing care, they need love and protection that Legacy can not give. He is surely not the first person to elope from there, there have been several elopements, and as of recent another resident has twice. Even the police were called on this person to bring them back inside On another note, a couple weeks after moving in, his shower was not draining properly. It was growing mold around the end where water was standing. One of the "Nayas" reported this, to whom, I do not know. Nothing was done. A different person called the "head of maintenance" of which he checked this out. He said the only way to fix it would be to replace the shower because the pitch was not toward the drain. As of April 29th nothing was done to fix this problem. I believe everything happens for a reason and this was a blessing in disguise because now we can be reassured that he is in a facility where he will be safe and properly cared for.

Distressing Changes in 2017

My dad has been here for almost a year and there have been some changes that are distressing. The Activities Director left for another job several months ago, and they really don't do anything but play bingo now. They used to bring in musical performers like a guitar player or a man who plays the organ, but they haven't done that for months. They are supposed to have movie nights but they never do. They haven't had trips to the dollar store or lunch in months. My dad doesn't mind the food, but there are people here who can't eat what they serve because the quality is so bad. But the worse thing is, my dad turned 90 last week, and they raised his service fee so that they now are charging him $8900.+ a month. When we signed up the sales team told us they wouldn't charge for wheeling him to his meals, and with the new nursing coordinator, they are charging him hundreds of dollars per month to wheel him less than 20 feet to the dining room. The aides are nice but they are terribly understaffed. We have been thinking of looking for a new place for a while but since they have literally doubled his monthly charges, we have no choice. When his money runs out there is no guarantee they will even have a Medicaid bed for him. Sad and distressing treatment to our family.

Better care needed.

I am not happy with the community for the care that is needed. They are understaffed for the residents. They do not always clean as needed. The menu is not good and needs a lot of improvements. The staff does always not keep track on her medications. We would not recommend this community for other families.

We wanted to walk out in the middle of the tour.

We were there for a tour, and it was probably the worst on so many levels. Not only was it dirty and it smelled. The director had no idea about the population, or the needs of those with memory issues. The director asked me if I was the one looking for assisted living. Even my mother was offended at some of the thing that was said. There was no activity going on, we wanted to walk out in the middle of the tour.

Beware

Crimson Ridge has gone down hill! The director is nothing but rude and I would say an ambulance chaser. Most residents need higher level of care yet she places all at risk residents and staff by expecting all to preform this higher level of care. I cant tell you how many phone calls I received of mother falling and how many trips to the emergency room. I cant blame the aids /nursing staff they weren't trained/hired for this level of care needed. Diabetic residents that received insulin administration would have chocolate cake for lunch , midday snack and again at dinner for desert. My mother's blood sugar was out of control and she was placed at risk. When I went to the directors office she stated she had no time to speak she was busy. Im from out of town so I figured I would at least be a priority ,no ! She shut her office door litteraly on my face and I did see her not once but 3 seperate times go to smoke. I guess that was more important then taking those minutes to speak to a paying customer. Non the less we pulled mother out of Crimson Ridge the following week due to being rushed to the hospital for a blood sugar level that was critical high and mom unresponsive. BTW no one is CPR certified at Crimson Ridge and if it wasnt for the wonderful ambulance staff we would not have mom this day. Please be aware of this place , sketchy director and all that is wrong with the place . Remember looks are deceiving and so is Crimson Ridge.
