Westmont Living

Having had no preparation or expectation that I would be having to locate an assisted living/mental care facility for my spouse in a short period of time, I was dazed. The staff at Mariposa walked me through the facility, explaining everything and applied no pressure. Basically they gave me the confidence to let them take control and lead me though the changes which I would be needing to expect. It was difficult to gradually turn over control of everything, including laundry to strangers, but my spouse was becoming a stranger and the old rules no longer held. At first, he was put in an assisted living room, but it became obvious that he needed to be moved to the mental care unit. They got me in touch with Central Coast Hospice who would be handling his medical needs and my confidence in them was immediate. My spouse gradually began to accept them and the changes. All of the staff have been respectful and their concern seems to be for both his and my wellbeing.

Overall it is pretty good. They have communication problems in regards with the residents and the resident's families. It would be nice to see more ability to communicate with the staff and dining for my loved one, as they say there is a lack of fresh fruits and vegetables. They've been short staffed the entire time my loved one has been here.

The staff members for the most part are very friendly, and the only real care services our loved one needs is the house keeping and meal service. Westmont Village is also the only community that has a full kitchen which is exactly what our loved one had requested. From our understanding she enjoys the meals. The activities are still limited and not full opened. The pool is not opened yet, but they do offer great physical therapy. When the activities are fully opened they still limit the number of residents that can participate.

This residence didn't fulfill my needs. The Director of Sales was a very pleasant and helpful tour guide though and I appreciate her time.

It seems to be very well managed. They have many opportunities for the people living there to participate in activities as well as they can during the pandemic, and they're opening up more and more. I wish that there was more green space for the people that live there to be outdoors. There's a lot of concrete and not many plants, as the community is located downtown in the heart of the city. I also feel it's very safe and secure. There's a locked gate at the entrance, and no one can drive in without permission from inside. It's so convenient that they have their own doctor on staff so I don't have to take my loved one anywhere for labs. They always have a nurse on staff as well. The caregivers have been very attentive when our loved one has needed extra support over time, and they just seem very caring.

My mom has been at Westmont for almost 3 years and she loves it! She is in memory care and the staff all love her and she thinks they are her family! When we do have an issue, we call and it is taken care of in a timely manner, most of the time!! My family and I are happy with the care of our mom!!

The assisted living part would be about a four out of five. We did have to call them a few times to make sure the things that they promised were getting done. This community is very clean, and compared to the other communities the value is about right in the middle, and the rooms are adequate in size.

Absolutely loved this community! We sampled the food which was delicious. We toured the facility and saw happy residents and caring staff. The only drawback for us is that there aren't any Spanish speaking residents.

It was a good tour. Once I am ready- I think I will go here - It is everything I like.

We (my sister for whom we were seeking a new living situation, myself and my husband) were very pleased with our initial experience with The Oaks at Nipomo dealing with the sales director ([Name removed]). We had agreed to certain concessions and expected that they would be honored. However, [Name removed] went on vacation, and someone from corporate, [Name removed], came on the scene. She was rude, pushy, a lousy communicator, and would not honor the concession agreed upon with the sales director. As a result of our dealings with [Name removed], we were ready to go Merrill Gardens in Santa Maria instead of The Oaks. We ultimately did move my sister into The Oaks and have, fortunately, not had to deal with [Name removed] again! All of the other Oaks staff we have encounter have been very nice, caring and helpful. One thing that could be improved is to ensure the material provided to prospective residents clearly explains the services available. For example, nothing in the material provided indicated that transportation for residents is free within a 12 miles radius for medical appointments, or that transportation is only provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There are some other areas in the which material could provide more detail. Perhaps The Oaks staff should incorporate into the material answers to questions they are frequently asked by residents. My sister loves the food at The Oaks and has gained weight since moving there, which is good as she needed to gain quite a bit of weight. The menu is varied, tasty and, for the most part, healthy. I would like to note, however, that the monthly rent is a quite a bit more than Merrill Gardens and some other senior living communities in the area. This may be the reason The Oaks has so many vacant units.

the facility is very large and hotel like. Doubtful they have enough staff. It does look nice and has many activity rooms. Just not well suited for High assisted living.

[Removed] gave us a very good informative and friendly tour. We could also live at Westmont Town Court.

My husband is doing well in the Memory Care and the community is fine. They have activities for the residents. I join with him so he can try it out. The food is really good and I usually have dinner with him. They charge me $12 for a full course meal. That is a salad, the main course, and a dessert. I am also pleased with the caregivers in the Memory Care. They are very caring and positive.

My dad seems to be liking it here so far. He has joined some activities and enjoys socializing with the other residents. The food from what I have been told by him is good he is enjoying it. The staff is friendly and kind. The inside appears to be well taken care of very clean and makes you feel like your at home.

My mom is enjoying the environment. It has been going well. It is what she needed and we are satisfied.We chose them because of the staffing it was the right fit. The food is fine, mom is happy and not complaining. She is definitely participating in the exercises and other activities. We have no complaints, I see the community is in order and I don't see anything bad when we visit. It has been nice for someone to manage her medication, which is helping her condition to be more better. .

This is a newer community and it looked nice. It felt like we were walking into a mountain lodge. The people we met were nice. This community was just a little farther away than what we were looking for.

The staff that gave my loved one and I a tour of there community where friendly and welcoming to us. They had a very clean facility with lots of great amenities available to all of there residents. I have no complaints about our visit, they just would not take my dad. They said he needed more care then what they could provide.

I also toured Cottonwood Court. I thought it was a very nice facility. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The tour guide was able to answer my questions and give me good information. It was a good experience but we found another community in a better location that for my loved one's needs better.
