I am very happy with The Oaks, I feel they take good care of my mother. I absolutely love that weather pro, they take the memory care residents on outings.

My mom is in memory care unit, so it's taken time to get used to the protocols. Everyone is happy to answer questions, address concerns. My mom raves about the food and they have a wonderful activity director. My mom has never been very social but she is much more so at Westmont. The unit is kept clean and organized. And they are committed to helping the residents have a full life.

Granted it is a very beautiful facilities. I was disappointed in the wear and tear in the residence, bathrooms and things that were not working correctly. Seems kind of expensive for a place that doesn’t take care of its plumbing issues but other than that it’s a fantastic facilities maybe it was just that particular room.

This facility checks all the boxes for a continuing care place. There are leased homes available, no cottages. The exterior presents as an attractive and quiet establishment, but the interior appears dated and in need of cheerful paint and new carpet. Cleanliness does not appear to be an issue. Food was unimaginative and not very good. Staff was friendly and efficient. Price was very reasonable. Apartments again seem dated and utilitarian, lacking in charm.. In general, I liked this place with it’s location on a mesa removed from the congestion of the urban area and with beautiful views.

It would be helpful to have an orientation booklet which describes mealtimes, how to arrange for a meal in your room, how to call for assistance, when to use the " emergency" button on the lanyard, medication dispensing, etc. My loved one moved in quickly, and didn't have a very organized first day. The staff are friendly, respond in a timely manner, and are conscientious. The maintenance staff was especially helpful. She really enjoys the activities and this has helped to make this move a positive experience. Also, the common areas are clean, spacious, well-decorated and bright and cheerful with seasonal and holiday decorations. It makes for a very pleasant environment. She has a 2 room apartment, which is perfect for her - I think a single room would have been too tight. She says that the food is okay, and sometimes good. She enjoys her new eating companions in the dining room. The dining room staff are attentive and courteous. Overall, this move from her own home to assisted living, has been difficult. I think that Lakeview has done a very good job in making this transition easier for her. She is meeting people and making friends .My greatest worry is her safety and I feel that she is in good hands. This area of the Oregon coast is quite isolated. I hope that her time at Lakeview with activities and new people to meet will help to convince her that this is the best place for her. I still believe that Lakeview is the best place for her in the Lincoln City/ Newport area.

Working with coordinator [name removed] we had a tour, she is great to listen to us describing Moms needs and our concerns about what makes her happy. Rooms are generous and well designed. They have nurse staff on duty, offer rehab assistance and have a Dr. Who comes twice a week. Close proximity to hospital. They also allow mom's cat.

I recently had the pleasure of touring the facility and I must say, it was an incredibly informative experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with such a warm and friendly atmosphere that instantly made me feel welcome. The tour girl was knowledgeable and passionate about the community, providing insights into the area's of mixed culture, and future developments. It was great to learn about the various amenities available, like the beautiful courtyard , local shops, and community events that bring residents together. What truly stood out to me was the sense of community spirit. People seemed genuinely happy to live there, and it was clear this is a place that values connection and engagement among its residents.

-Staff has been great. Small hiccup on pricing and how the deposits work but people couldn't be nicer -activities are good. Westmont isn't overbearing on how they get a new tenant situated so that's worked very well with my mom, who was still driving when she got there so was transitioning from being fully independent -meals have been fine and my mom is eating much better than she was on her own -room is good. I like the alcove shape of her studio better than some of the square rooms they have.

Apartment size is great. Staff is great. Food/dining is good. Activities are good. We are very happy with our experience. My mom is fitting in well and the staff are great to her.

Facility is clean. Nice courtyard. Most of the caregivers are very kind and attentive. The activities director is amazing. The nurse practitioners have changed 3 times in the year that my mom has been there and that has been frustrating. And communication is a bit difficult. We are hoping the new director of caregivers will be more proactive in organized and consistent communication.

Staff has been helpful although there's a big turnover rate. They have lots of activities and a wide variety of activities. The food in the restaurant is plentiful and geared towards a wide variety of dietary needs and restrictions. The room is a studio, with a big window, mini kitchen including a refrigerator and plenty of storage space. The bathroom is a good size as well as the closet. All in all, it's a good deal.

Overall cleanliness is excellent. However, charges for housekeeping I don't really understand as the housekeeping is so inconsistent on an individual level. Also, the quality of it varies particularly on the weekends, but since this is a problem with all facilities, I would say they do better than most the med techs are very good. The food is excellent. I am disappointed in the outside living spaces. They are poorly furnished, and under used given the incredible outdoor environment of coastal California, I think the residence would thrive if they got outdoors, more often, including my own husband.

Note a lot of these are not at the top as Westmont of SB is still going thru newbie pains, but the staff are doing best they can to update and correct things as quickly as they can and are open to listening to residents, but I believe sometimes their hands are tied by corporate level sadly. Westmont of Santa Barbara has a charming atmosphere, and the people are most welcoming, both staff and residents. You'll often be greeted with a smile.

There is a nice sense of community here and yes, I would recommend Westmont of Carmel Valley to other families based on the experience so far.

The med techs are not very responsive to questions. I don't like the location.

Food is a major complaint.... lack of staff causes long waits for ordering, food is often cold & not the best tasting. Another thing that I was displeased with is that I thought a price increase would be annual on the anniversary of move in... we got a large rate increase in January (5 months after they moved in) and the rate increase was different for each client, not a standard % increase.

The staff are friendly at Westmont. Westmont is owned by a Canadian corporation and is only one property in a large portfolio. As such, they care about one thing, the bottom line, profits! This makes it difficult at Westmont because the resident to staff ratio is too low resulting in slow response times. They are overworked and underpaid. And turnover is high. All that to say they do the best they can.
