Going down in history as one of the, if not the worse, experiences of my life. DO NOT entrust your loved one to this facilities care if they need medicine management or they are not basically totally independent! My mother lived here for a little over two months. In that timeframe, they messed up her medications NUMEROUS times, they did not return phone calls, they left fecal matter on my mother (as seen by hospital ER departmemt) and robbed her of her dignity: just to name a few. All they care about, from the very top, (management: case manager, head of nursing, and their executive director) is MONEY. They are ruthless, all for-profit, unwilling to work with you, refuse to hold themselves accountable for their errors , they try to intimidate, pass the blame, do the bare minimum, and then try to stick you for rent and services after you've moved your loved one out (after a legal and necessary medical evaluation required by NY State proved they were unable to meet medical needs)! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE place. I do not understand how anyone in management at Greenpoint can sleep comfortably at night. I literally pray for the residents. Any perspective families looking for a place for a loved one, feel free to PM me on FB, I'd be happy to answer questions and share: NOBODY should go through what we have gone through.

Ask to see the “barbershop” and “beauty salon”, to attend the “devotional services” and “fitness classes”, and to see the “kitchenette”. Sit on the patios and porches, as well as the “comfortable lounges”.

-Most “care managers” are paid minimum wage and have no more training to care for people than a fast food restaurant cashier. (There’s a reason they are called “care managers” instead of CNAs, and it’s because they are not certified.) -Understaffing is “hidden” by counting one person as two positions...if a care manager takes a weekend class to be a “medical technician”, then the claim can be made that there are is a “caregiver and a med tech” in the building, but it’s really one person doing two jobs, which means less care and attention for people. -Most people are doing two jobs; As of October 2018, the Designating Nurse is also the Health Care Coordinator, The Executive Director is also the Resident Care Coordinator, the Sales Director is also the Program Coordinator. There is no maintenance person and only one part-time housekeeper, so....with most people doing two jobs, does that mean most jobs are only half-done?

Spend a day here, unannounced. Participate in the activities- if they actually happen- just because activities are listed on a calendar does NOT mean they actually take place. Eat a meal. Talk to the residents. Ask staff how long they have been there and if they are CNA certified. Then go do the same at other facilities. If your loved one is going to live here, you should at least spend one day walking in the shoes you intend to put them in. Don’t be fooled by untruths presented on a “tour”....and the $3000 “community fee” is negotiable- don’t pay it!

Visit more than one time, at different times of day and evening, different days of the week. Talk to residents and their families. Ask for references. Ask how long each staff member has worked in their current position at this location. Within the past two years, there have been 4 different executive directors, 2 different nurses, 4 different cooks, 3 different maintenance people, 3 different housekeepers, and 4 different activities people. That doesn’t even include the caregivers, because there have been too many to count. This place can’t retain staff in any position-and then ought to tell you something.

Staff, while “sweet”, is largely untrained, uncertified as CNA or GNA, and unmonitored. Turnover is incredible, and being understaffed is a daily occurrence.

This facility was very warm and inviting, mom recieved wonderful care, this has all changed with the changes in managment. There are a few that are still there but they are aweful! No activities are happening on the 2nd floor, anytime I would voice a concern they act as if I am a botger to them, the coordinator for the 1st floor is extremely rude. The new director has no clue what he is doing and it seems he allows the staff to do just anything they want. This place has turned into a nightmare! A lot of people have moved out and I know of more that are looking to move including myself. My mother deserves the best and she is not getting that here any longer!

This facility used to be so warm and inviting this has dramatically changed in the last few months. All of the good staff are gone even the members of management who were so involved and sincere are gone. The ones who are left are unprofessional and rude are always sitting in their offices very cold and unfriendly. My mother sits around all day and has nothing to do. The staff are always on their phones or gossiping . There are no activities on the 2nd floor where she lives and I do not see very much going on on the 1st floor either. The new manager and the new nurse do not seem to know whats going and feels like they really do not care to know. I am seriously thinking about moving my mom out of this facility, I have seen quit a few people move out and I can see why. Look into other facilities before moving into this one!

Talk to residents and their families for REAL reviews. Most of the positive online reviews here are outdated or have been borrowed from another location’s website. There is no fitness room, no religious service, small pets are not welcome, there are almost no activities, and the staff to resident ratio is never 1:8 , although all of this is claimed to be true online. Even the photos are outdated- the place doesn’t look like these pictures anymore.

I hope my opinion keeps families from placing their parents at the facility. There is no one left in management that cares. When [name removed] left, after several others before her, I lost all hope. Good employees left one by one without saying a word. The activities are nonexistent on the second floor, there is rampant racism and what's left of the employees there do not even smile. My mother has been found many times alone and in despair. All the good ones are gone. Hopeless.

If I could give a -10 stars I would! Nasty place in rooms where you will never be allowed to go because "that resident did not give us permission to go into their room". Never enough staff on shifts other than 1st because that is when they can put their best foot forward and lie to you! Looks are very deceiving the main places are beautiful but care is so much more important and it is not there! I have a friend who has a family member there and I heard the horror stories, so I went for a visit to review placing a family member there. Everything was just so impressive so I ask my friend to visit with them and boy did I ever see the other side to that coin! ?? I was appalled and very disgusted with what I saw. While we were there they came in to give medicine and it was all messed up! Medicine that had been stopped was still being administered and the new medicine was "missing" or not on the cart! Never would I put my loved ones here. No one cared period they just walked off and said "Oh well".

After my elderly sister had been there 2-3 weeks from the hospital, her medication was a mess and they gave her an insulin shot every morning at breakfast but not once did they prick her finger to find out what her insulin level was before giving her the shot; that came straight from the nurses mouth. I asked her personally how did she know how much insulin to give if she didn't check her blook sugar and she said it wasn't on the doctors orders. This information was given me after she was found in her room on the floor from a fall before breakfast. Her blood sugar was 800 and blood pressure was 60, of course she was sent to the hospital and in ICU for many days then they inform the hospital they would not be taking her back so I had to find another home. This family is sooooooooooo very disappointed.

When we arrived for our tour the lady that met us said that there was a mess-up with the scheduling of our tour, never offered to reschedule our tour and informed us that if "we" wanted to look around on our own we were more than welcome to do so. She pointed down two hall ways and said go ahead. So we did do a short self-guided tour and left. And no we will not be back.

We should have checked patient families for experiences. The facility is nice when you tour and very quiet. The receptionist are very sweet (but they are not always at their desk). That's where wonderful ends and nightmare begins. You have 2 Aides per wing (16 pt at capacity) and a Med Tech who floats. (at any given time of the day several different (shifts) CNA's can be found sitting in the residents dining area on their phones) Our family member ran out of medication after the 2 week supply they arrived with was gone . No one called us or the RX, MD as to why they had no meds it was 4 days when I found our family member in a deteriorated state barely able to walk When I asked an Aide what's going on she said "Well ( ) ain't had any medicines in 4 days." After much effort and a call to the RX some of the meds were delivered at 1AM Sat morning , but not the main medication desperately needed.. I was told by one Med Tech it would probably come in morning. Well the next day no meds. Next Med Tech says RX doesn't deliver on Weekend your family member will just have to wait until Monday, turns her back to me and walks off ! I was [Removed] by one of the DON's on Monday morning for questioning the rude med tech who said our FM would have to wait until Monday for Meds in front of the Med Tech ! We ended up taking our FM to the ER to get the medications. I'd like to say that things got better, but they just got worse by the week ! Within 6 weeks we removed our family member [Removed]. In the 6 weeks our family member lost 15lbs . There should be a BBB for these facilities. We filed a report with the [Removed] who said we may or may not get a call from the State ???? ** Red flag STATE WILL ALWAYS CALL. We phoned ourselves and filed charges. Just because your family member has dementia do NOT dismiss their claims. Let me also say I witnessed a patient in a geri chair being propelled from his room so hard that he entered the hallway and bounced off the opposite wall. Neither aide attending him came out into the hallway when they heard me ask him if he was okay. They had an epidemic of stomach bug, flu and upper respiratory going around for weeks. We would routinely see Aides enter the room to toilet the patient, go through their drawers, clothing, bedding wearing the gloves and leave the room never disposing of the gloves then re -enter the room to finish toileting redress patient. One patient was sitting in the common living area on the sofa with a trash can between her legs to throw up in. This place has more than a FEW bad apples, it appears to be an established care practice. I now have difficultly sleeping for worry about the poor patients that are still in that place. We were never approached by the [Removed] that our concerns were being looked into and[Removed], she ([Removed]) did however let us know we would still owe them for another month once we told them we were leaving. They can change Administrators, but unless the staff is cleaned up I would strongly suggest for anyone to avoid this place at all cost !!!

My mother had a short term stay at this facility and it was not a positive experience. She fell twice while at the facility. The second time she fell, they left her on the floor in her room alone while one staff person called the ambulance and the other one checked on other residents. My mother was in pain and scared and alone in her room waiting for the ambulance - a staff member should have stayed with her - luckily she did not pass out. I would not recommend this facility. They only have pull chains in emergency situations in the room and bathroom. They should have safety alarms/life lines on each resident. My mother pulled so hard on the chain that she fell over. Another time she fell and could not reach the chain and had to scream for help. Also they rarely provide fresh fruit to the residents. I think they do minimal for the residents as far as assistance.

If you going or a visit, it is great. Once your loved one is in there, it is a nightmare. The nurses stand around on their phones and iPads. Very uncaring, just there for a paycheck. If your loved one can't feed themselves, they will not get fed properly. Definitely get references from patients families - not the people/numbers they give you. When you go to visit your loved one, the patients are drugged up and sitting around in wheelchairs. And if they get sick or injured, the staff waits too long to get medical care.(days or weeks). From what we experienced, this place is a death sentence. Their Facebook reviews are great because they can edit and delete what they don't want you to see.
