My loved one was a resident at Viva Senior Living at Easley. The facility was great when she initially moved in because she needed help following a broken bone, but as she became more independent, it became increasingly difficult to justify the cost. She also never liked the food.

I don't really think that our experience is necessarily a good barometer. My husband was there about a month. The reason I sent him there was because they said they could manage his diabetes and aggression. They could not. He was sent to the hospital 2x because of his blood sugar. The 2d time he stayed in the hospital until he passed away. To be fair I don't know if the place exists that would address the challenges that we faced- which is really too bad because my husband can't be the only person who had the difficulties he had, yet there seemed to be no facility which was equipped to an handle a patient like him. It was a frustrating and heartbreaking experience

At first, I found this facility to be great, people were friendly, the rooms were really nice, just a wonderful place. Unfortunately, my mom spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital and rehab, and I found out that while mom was not there in her room, things were stolen. Patients' rooms were kept locked when they weren't there and while I can't speak for others, I KNOW for a fact that one of the facility workers had gone in to "tidy" up her room before she came home from the hospital, but things came up missing. And I know this for a fact because my husband and I had stopped there a few days earlier to pick up some stuff of mom's and when we left, we knew exactly what was left sitting on her countertop. I immediately told the person in charge (who was actually the person who told me how this employee had gone into mom's room to clean it up) and I was told that an investigation would be conducted. But every time I would see this guy and ask him about it, I would hear the same thing. Now yeah, this guy was a wonderful guy, but he was the one who told me who went into mom's room! Unfortunately, my mom passed away last May but I was still upset over this employee going into mom's room (which had to be unlocked to enter). Eventually the guy in charge told me that I was given a refund amount added to the final refund check owed to me, but that didn't happen, I couldn't find it anywhere in the paperwork. So, yes, it's a nice place but please don't leave any valuables there, no matter how much mom wants otherwise.

Some of the staff were great but they were often understaffed, so a three. The residents were friendly once you reached out and got to know them but it's a big place and if you're a little shy, you'll feel lonely. Sometimes the meals were good, other times they took forever or forgot people or weren't very good. The activity people kept changing so things were not always as planned. Extra care needs monitoring, not enough repeating staff to understand resident preferences.

My loved one is currently a resident at Woodland Creek Transitional Memory Care Community and her experience at this facility has been just okay. However, we have a few concerns. The meals are not sufficient. Soup alone is not enough for dinner. Also, the care team doesn't do personal hygiene with the residents. Lastly, the activities are only for selected residents.

The meals that are prepared are good, our loved one has her own room which is something we like about the community. The improvements can be with the cleanliness, the facilities themselves could be cleaner. They could take the residents outside more and have more social stimulation for the residents.

The facility was very nice. The care staff were terrible. My mom was there 17 days and had 3 Skin tears and a jammed toe and no one took ownership for anything. My mother was terrified to even let them touch her. We moved her out immediately. I would never recommend Commonwealth Senior Living at Cockeysville to others.

I would only recommend someone going there if they have full-blown Alzheimer's, or really really bad dementia. We picked this community, because of timing and was also the best fit at the time for my mother in law that has anxiety around a lot of people. Smaller facility. The only thing people need to be aware of is that a lot of the people there are more full on Alzheimer's, and really bad dementia. It's not a great place for elderly that are showing signs of dementia. (Beginning stages)

My mother actually passed away right before Christmas. They handled that very poorly. Towards end of COVID severity, staffing became a revolving door with the exception of the marketing director. Communication was never wonderful but with staff continually changing, it was chaotic to say the least. Messages did not get passed along. Maybe I didn't develop the proper rapport, but management was usually unavailable whenever I was there!

Commonwealth Senior Living in Berryville does not provide daily personal care and hygiene for my mother, she wears the same clothes day after day and sits in urine and stool in her brief which rarely gets changed. It's sad and disappointing to see such lack of care for a human being

Oh, [name removed] was really bamboozled. [name removed], the rep for Commonwealth, told her there were daily activities which there isn't and farm to table food, which there isn't, and he basically lied to her. She wishes she had never moved. I feel terrible because I helped her find the place. The expectations and follow through with promises have not been met. They need to be honest about what's there. They all seem to do this, because [community name removed] does the same. They say on their website the food is mouth watering delicious-the food is horrible with the cheapest of ingredients-tough meat that you can't cut, rubbery pancakes that you can't cut etc. Makes me mad how they treat old people.

Commonwealth has the potential to be a great facility. Unfortunately, my mom's experience was during the time of a perfect storm of being understaffed and having the chef quit. The nurse, [name removed], is phenomenal, but she is only one person. She is not able to hire caregivers, temp agency folks, administrative duties, be available 24/7, etc as she is expected to do. She never complained. The marketing person, [name removed], is awesome as well as were [name removed] in Finance and [name removed] in activities. Due to all of this, mom fell 3 times, did not feel safe, lost significant weight and had multiple UTIs due to being left in her urine and feces. She is now in a new Assisted Living. She hasn't fallen, is no longer incontinent (no even once as she gets a timely response to her button), no further UTIs and has regained the weight and more as she will eat if the food is edible. Again, Commonwealth has potential, but I wonder what they do for their staff in that they can't keep them from leaving.

My tour guide, [name removed] was very approachable and helpful. She answered all my questions and did not rush our time spent together. I would give her a 5. The facility was not to my liking. It seemed much more institutional and a lot of the staff were listening to some rather loud music. I felt that Hope was also a bit more for residents who are in more of a decline with locked doors etc... It just wasn't the correct place for mom.

The biggest issue is the staff, does not respond fast enough to the call button. My loved one is not getting the level of care, that they are paying for. They need to improve on response time, and they need to hire more staff.

When our loved one first moved in all of the staff were great, but after our loved one being there we just felt they did not really care. They were very friendly to begin with but there was a lack of communication and when your loved one is there we feel that families need to hold them accountable. Now this was our families experience, we do encourage families to go check them out and see if they are suitable for their own loved ones. We did like how open, airy and light the community was.
