Great place for loved ones

The activities at Chandler Memory Care are great they have so many different things like painting classes, crafts, kickball, and for Halloween they prepared trick or treat bags to hand out to the kids. Our first impressed was great, the community is very clean and everyone is very friendly. Overall it really does seem like a good place for your loved ones .

The best part is the people

This facility just got a new Executive Director and is going through changes. I hesitate to give feedback because things could change, but did want to share our experience so far and give feedback about how things are currently. Cleanliness of the overall facility is great, it's kept very clean. Housekeeping and cleanliness of Dad's room could improve. I will say the staff and nursing care overall has been amazing. I can honestly say, some of the staff are really good and have been the saving grace of this facility. However, they've started using agency staff and the more they do the lower the quality has gotten. There are a few regular staff who make all the difference. For example, the chef [name removed]. He is possibly the nicest person on the planet, so sweet and genuine. He's always high fiving the residents and uplifting them. He genuinely cares for the residents here and it shows. He's like Tinkerbell without wings! The food is ok and the activities used to be great but lately haven't been as good. The Activities Director used to really be on top of things, but hasn't been as much lately. They just switched to a new medication management company and the other one was so much better. We've had issues with them, mainly with charting and communication. The previous Executive Director was so accessible and that was a great thing and I loved it. He was great about communicating, texting, and calling. Always open to suggestions. I get the feeling that with the new Executive Director that won't be the case, but I'm not sure yet. The new ED just doesn't seem as pro or super interactive. The previous sales lady [name removed] was amazing. She was like the world's best advocate and would be quick to help resolve any problems. She's been promoted, so we don't have that anymore, but she was amazing. They are reasonably priced, but price and care needs can be tricky. That's something to be aware of. One thing we've had issues with is the resident 'contract' that they set up prior to move in. The contract is made for each individual resident based on their care needs and assistance level needed and is priced separately. Dad's contract included shower assistance/more showers, being checked on every 2 hours, and having assistance getting to and from dining. Those things never happened. I discussed it with them and asked about it. They ended up changing his contract and care/assistance needs to less. I think they did it because they didn't want to provide the extra care/assistance and not because he didn't need it. So that's been frustrating. There's a common area for the residents upstairs, but not downstairs where they spend most of their time. That's something I wish they would change. Overall, I don't mean to be completely negative. This place isn't terrible. We've just had some issues that I hope will improve and get worked out.

The Best Caring Staff for Your Loved One

This community has an on staff doctor for the residents to use. However, my loved one's insurance won't pay for this as they haven't in the past. We now have to find our own doctor for our loved one. The staff are great people. This is an older community. The staff communication with the family has been good. The food is wonderful and my loved one loves it. The community has been able to accommodate my loved one's requests to eat in their room. There are three meals a day served, and there are choices to choose from. It would be nice to see more bingo played for the residents. Parties, religious services, bingo, and more are some of the activities offered by the community.

Charter Strives to Meet the Needs Of It's Residents and Families

A private room can be pricey here. The community does have an option to have a shared bathroom and hallway, with a private bedroom and this was a great option for my loved one and family. The staff are great to work with if the family has questions or concerns about our loved one. The Executive Director step down to work at the Marketing Director, and the community hired a new Executive Director. The new Director called a meeting to hear what the family and residents had to say and is working on addressing these concerns. The community serves a lot of sandwiches for dinner and this can be hard for the residents to swallow. I believe they could serve more pasta to assist the residents with choking hazards. Charter has nurses on staff to assist the residents.

Community Tour

The girl we met with at The Landing of Long Cove was great. I got the feeling that hey cared a lot for their residents. A lot of people who were there had been there a long time, so based on that, the care must be good. I think the most important thing about the facility is that it's small, so everybody knows everybody, and the staff definitely knew the residents. The facility maybe just needed a bit of updating.

More assistance for your loved one but a little pricey

My loved one was at another community and we had some issues with assistance. We came to this community and they are willing to care for my loved one and you do not have to be completely independent for them to take care of you. This community works well with people who need assistance. The staff are very friendly and they have a step up memory care unit. It has been a challenge for my loved one but we are trying to get adjusted. They also let my loved one out to eat with the other residents in personal care for my loved one to be able to socialize.

Great Transition

It's been a good experience. A lot of that has to do with how our family member has adapted well. So we're very pleased. She feels comfortable there, and she was able to make her room homey. And they take good care of her.

Our family had an in person tour and it was nice but the facility was not as nice or newer as the other ones we were touring. The room layout was not the best, and it was not as clean. it was the least expensive but not the right place.

Great Place for loved one

We just had our first in person visit and there were some things that we had to addressed. I feel like they are doing the best that they can and I am happy that my loved one is here. We had lunch during our visit and I was not very impressed with the meals. One of the main reasons that we picked this community is because they have a lot of nursing staff that are there to always check on the residents. They bought a rabbit to the community and my loved one was engaged and went to see the animals. They also often call and text my other loved ones to let us know how she is doing and if there is anything else needed and they also send pictures. The community is great my main concern is just lunch.

Forest Hills Commons review

Forest Hills community is a lovely place, they keep the facility spotless. It is nicely decorated without being overbearing. The residents really seem to enjoy life here, and we are constantly getting new residents all the time. The staff is vey caring and there is a good relationship between the staff and residents. The staff are always greeting us and calling us by our first name. The day to day food is about average but the special meals our outstanding. The special meals include lobster, and prime rib. For Mardi Gras we had a big holiday dinner it was just outrageous. I find this place to be very comfortable and would recommend to others coming here and giving it a shot.

Good overall. Some area for improvement.

The residents are very friendly and seem a lot like a family. Our main contact at the facility is very responsive and takes action well. Some of the nursing is too busy to give thorough care, which understandably could be a bigger issue if your loved one is slower moving themselves. The facility is cleaner in the common areas than in our loved one's room, but it's clean overall. And he says the food is good.

a wonderful place if you like the building

I am in independent living at another facility and looked at Charter a few months ago because it's cheaper. The director is wonderful, the program is great, especially for people with some physical issues. The activities are varied and they seem fun. The person who gave us the tour said that the facility is 25 years old, but I think it's much older. I found the building dark and depressing. Maybe you wouldn't agree; if you can look past the building, you'll like Charter, but I'll stay where I am. I might consider it later if I need more health care.

Acceptable but I kind of expected more

They were very friendly to get to business, and then once we had signed, a couple of the people we had talked to just kind of disappeared. The front desk was phenomenal though. The girl who works there is probably the best person I've talked to in my life. The place looked lovely. We just didn't get to experience much in the short time we were there, and also because of Covid.

I would recommend

We chose Chandler Park because of the convenient location as well as the value for the money. They do send emails to keep families updated but sometimes the ball is dropped on communication, but I know it could be due to covid. I do think that they could improve on the quality of meals. They do provide good activities here for the residents to participate in. It seems like the CNAs here are really friendly and helpful and I would recommend to others.
