Ultimate Care Senior Living Management

I found the staff helpful, and I think the staff is very nice. My only concern is they should have maybe a little more social engagement. Every time I call or ask about something they are very nice. I like them a lot, and whenever I come in the front door, everyone is very, very nice, they knew her name right away.

We toured this location when we were looking into respite care options for my loved one. This was a nice looking place, the facility itself was clean and well kept and the staff were all very friendly. However, we discovered that in New York state respite care stays must be a minimum of 30 days, which is much longer than we were looking for. The cost is also higher than options we saw in other states.

The Bristal at Woodcliff Lake opened in November 2013 and is still in the process of getting organized. The main issues we are having is the "patient to aid" ratio and shortage of trained help. This is probably related to their attempt to keeping costs down. Management employees are filling in to do lower level jobs. Because this facility is corporately owned, the corporation determines when to hire more help which might be a problem.

My husband and I liked the Bristal for many reasons. It is located about six minutes from our home. It is beautifully furnished in the lobby as well as in all the public rooms. We were always greeted at the desk with courtesy and immediate attention and we wanted all of this for my 91 year old mother. We met with lovely [removed] Joyce Sokoloff and Joan Shapiro took us on tours and helped to explain the basic arrangements for my mother. When my mother visited the Bristal she was willing to make the move. Mom is only here for one week. Already, she has made friends, learned about events and has participated in many activities. She is walking better since taking up exercise class!

The Bristol is clean, beautifully furnished and has many on-site activities. We sampled lunch, met residents and toured the premises freely. My mother felt comfortable there.

From the first visit my family and my aunt felt a immediate comfort. It is clean, warm and welcoming. The studio apartment is large and well appointed. The three meals are very good with plenty of choices and the bistro an added plus. The staff are friendly and helpful and make a point of knowing everyone's name and helping the residents feel at home. Of all of the age-in-place communities in the area, this one is by far the best value.

They are a brand new community. They were very good and the community was very lovely. Everything was good here I just didn't get the feeling like they were completely setup yet and not at full gear. The community is very nice and the staff was wonderful.

$ 2695 monthly semi-private. Refrig. and microwave in apt. with kitchen sink, cabinets for dishes and food and a kitchen table. Good recreation, walking on premises and walking groups, residential area and active community. All inclusive except if needs bathing, dressing and grooming $20.50 daily or help with ordering meds and dispensing them $1750 daily. I can order the meds and dad might be cable of bathing, grooming and dressing soon. Meds kept in dad's apt. $1000 deposit. Have semi-private available now and will give us up to 3 weeks on deposit which is refundable. Met both Judy and David, but David gave me the full tour.

I toured with Alan, and while I could find nothing wrong here and there were even more activities here than sunrise, the population was older than my aunt. I feel that she for now, has more independence than most of the residents here, and might feel out of place. The memory floor, the residents were much later stages dementia than she is at now. This location did not seem as appropriate an environment for my aunt as sunrise. However it is large and had a beautiful balcony with lots of staff and activities. Residents were milling about to and from lunch, bingo etc.

Pros: great layout, near shopping. The Director was terrific. Cons: view of train tracks and cemetery.

Beautifully decorated. Lunch meal was delicious and chef was very cordial and accommodating. Majority of residents were females who used walkers to be mobile. Backyard/courtyard was lovely. Halloween party with DJ was taking place while we were there. Many residents seemed quiet and reserved. Smell of urine in ladies' bathroom on first floor. Director was very informative and gave a great presentation. Room size was adequate and rates were daily. 5% discount for veterans. Daily tidy service.

This is the front runner at the moment. Director spent quite a bit of time with us and was very helpful.

The staff is a bit cool. They wont cut fingernails. They want you to use their beauty parlor regularly. Theres no place to go for a private phone conversation. Yes its clean, thank God Yes they have activities You must visit resident n be aware

The entire staff goes above and beyond to make sure my Mother is comfortable at the Bristal North Woodmere.

I think the only complaint my dad had has while he was at this community was the food. He had mentioned multiple times that there was never enough choices to choose from and that it felt like they had the same meal all the time as well as the food always being very bland. Other than that I have been pleased with the quality of care he has been receiving as well as the friendliness of all the staff members.

I'm not there enough to go by but from what I saw she is okay with everything. The food could be a little better and they need more fresh vegetables. More like fresh salads. Everything at the facility is cooked or they receive sandwiches. They grew up on big bowls of salad and use that at the facility.

Being brand new, the facilities are beautiful. Also being new, there are only a few residents in the memory care section, which appears to provide sufficient personal care by the staff but may limit personal interactions with others. Not sure if they are up to speed with their activities yet. There was a glitch with the transfer from the nursing home to The Bristal due to the defined dietary requirements of my sister. The Bristal cannot accommodate a pureed diet as indicated by the nursing home. It took about three weeks to resolve the issue (twice) which was very frustrating. The overall staff is friendly and helpful. The ratings are based on the first week of residence.

The place is beautiful! I camped out on their couch when I got them moved in. I guess we are a little disappointed that there aren't many people that they can connect with. They seem to be having a difficult time adjusting. There's also a restaurant downstairs that must do a disco thing on the weekends and you can hear them late at night, it's a beautiful place everyone there is attentive and lovely. Behind the restaurant there is also is a recycle center or something similar that is kind of noisy.
