Change is GOOD!!!!

I am a resident at the Bristal Armonk; I spent a month last year as a respite resident, and decided to return as a permanent resident. First I must say, such an improvement with the new Director, Ms. Johnson. Ms. Johnson is caring, poised, professional, and has the best customer service, and it has apparently trickled down to her staff. The aides are very helpful, along with the wonderful front desk staff. If there is any problems, we all know to the see the "boss Lady", Ms. Johnson, and things will be resolved. Thank you Bristal, thank you Management.

Rapid response to a fall.

My mother has been at the Bristal since April 2013, and has been enjoying having people to eat with, socialize, and controlling her own thermostat. This week, she fell in her apartment, and for the first time she pressed her emergency pendant. I was outside waiting for her to take her to an appointment. I realized something was wrong when she didn't answer her phone or come down. I went upstairs and there were two aides with her and the ambulance had been called. The quick response and knowing she is watched gives me a sense of relief. When we returned from the ER, she was given TLC all night and the next day. We both felt so comfortable. Can't praise the staff enough.

The Bristal changed my mom's life!

After my Dad died, my mom was alone, severely depressed and a shut in. After I visited the Bristal in East Northport, I envisioned a new life for my mom. Well, the staff and residents brought my vision to a reality! Today, my mom is happy and fulfilled. She has pleasant company at her meals, and has plenty of activities to fill her days. Both the wonderful staff as well as the friendly residents made her feel welcome from the first day. The facility is beautiful and well maintained. My mom enjoys the meals, activities and trips. She is hardly ever in her room! My family is grateful to the Bristal for turning my mom's life around!

My parents moved into The Bristal a year ago. Before their move they lived in a one family house for 57 years. No longer able to drive, their days were isolated and difficult. Their friends had moved or were unable to visit. I lived over an hour away and work full time so was not able to give them the assistance they needed. Since their move to the Bristal they are active, happy and well taken care of. The premises are immaculate, the staff caring and helpful. They are only 20 minutes away from me now so I can visit more frequently. This was the best possible move for our family and we do not regret the decision at all.

Happy to see my Aunt's transformation.

My Aunt has been at the The Bristal Assisted Living at Lynbrook, NY since the end of January. Prior to that she was living at home but kept wandering away in the middle of the night and was highly agitated and combative out of fear since she was losing her memory with dementia. It was not an easy decision to put her in a facility. It was actually the hardest thing we've ever had to do. But we were afraid she was going to seriously get hurt or even die with this cold winter, as a result of her wandering. we had nursing care at home, but it was just too much and there was no joy for her. We are happy to say that my Aunt seems to be thriving at The Bristal Lynbrook with the help of the great staff who have been extremely nice and caring of her needs. My Aunt is participating in the events that they offer - dancing, music, games, etc. We feel that she is safe and cannot walk away in the middle of the night, the way she was at home. When my sister visited, she sent me a video of my Aunt dancing - and it just made me cry to see her so happy! It was fantastic! Dementia sucks royally, it's such a horrible disease! Everyone has to deal with it whichever way they can. We are very happy that my Aunt is being well care for and would recommend this place to anyone who needs this type of service. They allow visitors to come whenever and the atmosphere is upbeat. I think the staff are wonderful and they treat all the patients respectfully and kindly. That's so important!

Living at the Bristal in Sayville-Reflections

staff is very attentive and caring. residents are encouraged to be active and participate in the numerous scheduled activities. memory care unit is clean and the environmental color scheme is very relaxing. the facility is new which is a plus. food is above average, not gourmet and every once in a while room temperature if you are last to be served. overall a very nice place for a family member especially with dementia. every effort is made to address their needs. residents are well dressed and clean. not all medical specialists are available on a visiting basis which is the only draw back. perhaps this may improve in the future.

A fine assisted living facility

My mother recently became a resident of the Bristal at East Northport. We were also invited to have a meal there and sample the food. Our waiter, "J" was courteous and very professional. The food was wonderful. My mother has been there now for almost four months. She is basically healthy with some ambulatory problems, and she is getting the help she needs to get stronger. She has made friends and is involved in several activities, such as bingo, bridge, movie night, and "balloon volleyball". The staff is very friendly, as are the residents. We no longer worry about her living alone, and she is happy to be surrounded by people. I wuld highly recommend the Bristal to anyone who is in need of assisted living.

Well worth a visit to the Bristal

The Bristal cares for its residents. The staff knows everyone by their name and uses it respectively. Food is awesome and a great variety is offered to those who don't necessarily want a big meal. The table placements of seniors are decided by things they all have in common, so it is a very comfortable dining experience. Bristal is a safe environment and is decorated for each holiday making residents feel they are part of a community.

The right decision

9 months ago I was faced with the difficult decision of moving my grandmother out of her home and into the Reflections wing at the Bristal. Once she settled in , I noticed little things like the staff was able to get her into a much needed routine. My grandmother even went to the onsite beauty salon to get her hair & nails done. This was something that I could not encourage her do. I believe my grandmothers quality of life has improved far beyond what I could have provided for her. I can't say enough about the staff, they will treat your loved one like family.

Great Choice

The building is well maintained and the apartments are fairly spacious. The staff really seems to care and take pride in their work. They greet, schmooze, and engage the residents, and there are always activities and excursions for those who want to participate. Food services are probably their weakest "asset", but then again, I find it hard to believe any single place can always satisfy everyone day in and out. Mom has been there for a few years and management and staff have always been responsive to any issues or concerns we've had, and I know she is well cared for.

I think it's good, the staff is good,...

I think it's good, the staff is good, she is comfortable there. the only thing I am a little disappointed in is we wanted a studio and they gave us a larger one bedroom and it's costing us more. The place is immaculate and the staff has been great. The food is ok, not great and not awful. They do give you a lot of choice. I think a lot has to do with the person who is staying and I think they offer enough for the residents to do and it's up to them to take advantage of what they offer. It's very clean and the furnishing are well kept and very cheerful. Yellows and greens a little more of a contemporary feeling, brighter. A lot of staff. I looked at a couple and the Bristal was less of a sales job than some of the others. The community speaks for itself they don't have to sell you on the community.
