Peace of mind for your parent(s) and YOU!

I just recently moved my 86-year-old mother into OPP from my childhood house - she had lived there 57 years! It was a very hard experience for her to give up her home but she just couldn't keep it up any longer. The OPP staff have made her transition from a huge ranch home into a 2-bedroom apartment very positive and pleasant! Even the residents have embraced my mother with open arms, always talking with her, involving her in the activities planned and helping her feel accepted and important. OPP has an Ambassador program that pairs the newcomer with an established resident, who assists them their first week there, showing them around, making sure they get to their correct meal sittings, answering all questions, etc. It's such a relief for me, being out of state, to know that I can call any of the staff there at any time to ask them to assist her, o r check in with her if I can't reach her by phone. This is an older retirement community, celebrating 30 years in Overland Park, but it is centrally-located, has great services, and is professionally operated.

great value

Though my husband does not take place in the activities, they have two wonderful activity directors that provide a wide variety of activities on a regular basis. My husband gives them a few challenges but they take it all in stride and do a good job handling him. They are very caring and personable with the residents, getting to know each of them personally by name. There is a very homey atmosphere to it that I didn't find in a lot of other places I visited. They also don't pile on the extra charges that I have noticed other places do. They are very up front and transparent about what the charges will be. They have better 24 hour nursing coverage than a lot of other places. It is a great value. The only area for improvement I can think of is that my husband has mention the servers that serve the meals don't seem to have much serving experience.

Amazing place!

They do an amazing job at Church Creek! There is absolutely nothing that they don't do well! Their sales team is amazing, and was so helpful throughout the whole move-in process. And they have a really excellent home health care service as well. All of people here, both the residents and the staff, seem very friendly and happy to be here. They are also very reasonably priced for what they provide, and there is no buy-in fee, it is strictly rent based. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking into senior living!

Loving caring home for senior citizen family members

Dad moved into Green Place from a nursing home where he wasn't happy and was only sitting in his wheelchair in his room except for meals. The staff at Green Place worked with him and got him walking some to meals and participating in multiple activities including outings in the community, milk shake Monday's, Friday drinks on the patio, and church services. They learned how to calmly care for him during a recurring medical episode so he wasn't disturbed or disturb other residents. When he took a sudden turn for the worse with all family out of state the staff kept us informed of his situation and we were confident that he was receiving the best care in the most caring home! When I came to visit (never pre-arranged) the home was always clean and calm the staff was attentive to all the residents, not just my dad.

My father was a retired farmer and the decision to move “to town” was a difficult one for him to make. When he made the decision to move to Swan Place, he was welcomed with open arms, plenty of hugs and meals that were both delicious and nutritious. The staff even made sure to have his old fashioned oatmeal available for breakfast. His apartment was a beautiful home with large windows for plenty of sunshine, a large bathroom, a bedroom that was easily large enough for a queen sized bedroom suite and a living room/kitchen area that was large enough for visiting friends and family to relax and enjoy time with Dad. He was partial to the courtyard where he enjoyed sitting in the gazebo and enjoying the weather. With all the wonderful amenities, the best part for Dad was the friendship of other residents and of course, the staff. When he spoke of the staff, he maintained that the only thing that was missing was their angel wings. Their ceaseless efforts made sure Dad wanted for nothing. Whether it was a warm smile, a hug or just stopping by to see how his day was going, Dad was surrounded by people who truly cared. As a daughter, it gave me peace of mind knowing that Dad was truly enjoying his new home. I will never be able to fully express my gratitude to these wonderful people for their care and concern. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Swan Place as a new home for a loved one.

Riverwalk Commons - Assisted Living with a Home like touch

The administrators at Riverwalk Commons were very helpful and provided any information that was requested as Mom and Dad considered the move. My parents were so impressed with the friendliness, cleanliness and warm feeling they got as soon as they entered the building, that they reserved an apartment the same day as the tour. Which was a good thing as there was only one one-bedroom apartment and one studio available at the time! The cost of their apartment was very reasonable. My parents were moving to the Noblesville area from an assisted living facility in their hometown. They are actually paying less than they were! We ate lunch at the facility on the day of the tour and other residents came up to us and introduced themselves and a couple residents even sat at the table to have lunch with us. We were impressed that many of the residents we met that day had lived at the facility for several years and they gave unsolicited good reports about Riverwalk Commons. This was a strong selling point for me as was the fact that many staff members had been there a length of time as well. It speaks volumes about a place with people want to stay. The move has been a smooth transition and staff at the facility have been friendly and have offered any assistance that we might need with the move and the transition. The other residents have been extremely friendly as well. Residents have come up to my parents and introduced themselves and some residents have come to Mom and Dad's apartment to meet them. Meals have been excellent. I have eaten lunch with them once since the move and the food and food service was just the same as it was on the day of the tour. You order from a menu a meal time and there is a good variety of foods offered. My parents do not eat chicken or turkey and my Dad is not a fan of fish. The menu has always had choices for them that they liked. The food has been well prepared and served fresh and warm. The kitchen/wait staff were friendly and joking with residents as they took food orders. The staff also knew preferences of several of the people at the table. My parents like the fact that they do not have to get up or eat meals at a set time. Riverwalk Commons staff really tries to make assisted living as homelike as possible. My parents are able to keep their desired sleeping and eating schedules. Riverwalk Commons also has a nice variety of activities including several outings. My parents like to eat out and Riverwalk takes a bus of residents out regularly to local residents. The last trip of which I was aware was to Wolfies. The restaurants chosen are those that would appeal to older adults. There were also shopping trips to Walmart. My parents could go to Walmart or visit other stores in the same strip mall with Riverwalk Commons providing the transportation. They also provided bus transportation a couple Sundays a month to the local Methodist and Catholic church. I was speaking to Dad the other evening and Rivewalk took a group to the Palladium in Carmel for a show. I am really pleased with how the staff is striving to provide the residents with a good quality of life with lots of varied activities from which to choose. There are a lot of offered activities that my parents would like to do. The location of Riverwalk Commons was a plus, too. It is close to shopping, pharmacies, and Riverview hospital. My parents are going to take advantage of the doctor who comes to the facility. It is easy for them and a comfort for me that they will not have to go out in bad weather for doctor appointments nor will miss doctor appointments due to bad weather. My parents are pretty independent and are not using many of the nursing and care services available. It is good to know that these services are there if the need should arise.

My mother is very happy & doing so well at Overland Park Place. She is going to exercise class , playing Bingo, Cards, does not miss any of the entertainment that they bring in from speakers on health to music. The food is great because there are choices for breakfast , lunch and dinner. The food is very good and the portions are sized for the older adult. My mother says she is at the perfect place for her. My sister and I go see Mom no less than 4 x a week. It is always clean and the people are happy.

Forest Creek Commons is Fantastic in all respects!

Caring for older people is a calling and cannot be faked. Starting with Denise,The Director, and Carried through by the entire staff is a True Kind and competent approach. I am not easy to please and am a devoted only child. I adore my 91 year old Father and am beyond satisfied with his new home..The facility, staff, level of care and especially the Food is simply the best.

Wonderful place!

They did a wonderful job taking care of my loved one! The facility itself was lovely, and always clean, and the staff were very friendly and professional. All of the people that helped my loved one, from the care staff to the dining staff, were very attentive, gracious, and caring. They helped him recover enough that he was even able to tell them that himself.

We toured this community when we were looking into senior care for our loved one. I thought this place looking very nice! It had a homey, comfortable feel. The residents here were happy, and were obviously getting lots of love from the staff. We would have liked for this place to be an option, but unfortunately they only had availability for studio rooms, which were very very small.

Very friendly staff, and great care!

Rose Estates was recommended to us by a few friends, and overall we've been very pleased with how things turned out! We moved my loved one here from another facility that we had a very bad experience with, and were feeling very apprehensive about looking for a new community. Joe, the PR person here, spent over an hour on the phone with us, reassuring us and answering all our questions. The care here is very very good! The staff are extremely polite and easy to work with, I never feel like I'm bothering them when I check in on my loved one and ask about her care. The facility itself is a very clean nice looking place, and it has a comfortable homey atmosphere. It is also a safe and secure building, with a security code system at every entrance. The only issue I've had is that it can be difficult to get in touch with specific people at times. The front desk people are not willing to track down your loved one or specific employees if they are not immediately available.

We fell in love.

My mother has dementia and was unable to transfer herself any longer from her wheelchair. Due to being unable to transfer herself we needed to find a new place for her. My sister and I toured 12 facilities and Stratford was the last one we visited. You learn so much touring and speaking with the different facilities, so our checklist as to what we wanted for our mother was pretty much defined when visiting Stratford. After visiting with Lorie and touring the building, we felt that we had found the place where our mother would be well taken care of. They are a memory care facility and understand the needs of their residents. Staff and residents were very friendly. We had gotten to know more people there within two weeks than a year and a half at the other place. There are monthly Family Dinners and we are getting to know other families and no one has ever said anything negative about the place. They have a policy where any problems or concerns are addressed immediately. The only draw back for some may be that they are unable to provide transportation for wheelchair residents, but we have been able to work this out for our mother. Great place, great staff and for what your love one receives, a great price!
