A Place for Mom has scored Turnaround Solutions with 8.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 455 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Turnaround Solutions has 1,280 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.2 out of 5.
We had a good tour experience with The Boulevard of St. Charles, but the facility was too large. My family member was looking for something smaller that was all on one level.
The staff have been very welcoming and very helpful. The calendar is full of activities and there are many outings to choose from. Hardline phones are not in the apartment, but offered at $80 a month so pretty pricy. So far my mom has enjoyed living there.

The staff needs more help for the amount residents they have. However the staff that they do have is very friendly for the most part. The food there is poor and could use some improvement. The stated that apartment cleaning would happen once a week which does not happen as often as we were told and when they do clean it the bathroom is never truly clean along with the rest of the apartment.

Laundry is a problem. It has gotten to the point where we have taken laundry home because it wasn't done by the staff. This has been a problem off and on since they moved in. As much as we pay for the room and care plan this should not happen.

It's a brand new building, They offer onsite/offsite activities, and have a montly calendar with different activities. We picked this community because of, the location, and timing of when needed to get our loved placed somewhere. It worked out well. It's first class, and I would recommend to other families.

Overall we have been happy with the care. However, getting healthy meal options has taken a lot of time and effort on our part. In addition, the activities have often been poorly executed. The staff is kind and the administrator is responsive to concerns and suggestions.

We chose The Gardens at Arkanshire because of the convenient location and I liked the way it was set up. The girl who gave us the tour was super helpful. I really like that they offer restaurant style dining. The cleaning service has not been available to my loved one every week as promised in the beginning due to staffing shortages. Otherwise we absolutely love the place. I would definitely recommend The Gardens to others.

All in all, I've been very pleased with the facility. My dad is in assisted living and mom is in memory care. We had some issues with communication in the beginning. When mom moved to memory care, I felt kept out of the loop. I really just wanted to know her schedule and to be updated on her appointments and medications. Things were getting done, I just wasn't always updated about them unless I asked. But we have that under control now. The rehabilitation service that works with the facility seemed to take advantage of both of my parents a little bit in the beginning. When I asked for reports on their treatment, I was told that they probably didn't need it and at that point it stopped. They do have a pool and a movie theatre. Housekeeping is once a week and the rooms are kept clean. I would recommend them to family and friends.

The reason we picked The Princeton Senior Living community is because it is newer, clean and all of the staff we have met are very professional. We feel that this is a very safe place for our loved one and a place where he will be well taken care of. We would recommend this community to other families if those families were able to afford it because it is expensive.

The biggest reason we chose Vitalia Rockside is because of the full kitchen inside the villa apartment our loved one has. She is able to do all of her own cooking which is great. The community is very clean but they could use a few more maintenance guys. Our loved one has not participate in the activities but we hope she does soon because they seem to have some fun things going on. Based on our experience so far we would recommend this community to other families.

Things have been going good at The Westbury, it's like moving into a little apartment. As we're still trying to figure out what's what, my mom and dad seem to be doing well. They're in therapy, they're eating well and they're medications are given to them correctly; I can't complain about anything. I would give them a 4 out of 5 because of the cost, but that's the case everywhere. As far as taking care of my parents, they're doing a good job.

The food has always been excellent at The Princeton we have never had problems with the quality of the quantity but because of the staffing issues the dining service does suffer sometimes. The residents are able to go to their snack bar during the day to get sandwiches, salads, cookies, ice cream, etc. There are more activities at the community then what our loved one can keep up with. They have an art room, exercise room, and a indoor swimming pool. Getting our loved one to move here was difficult, but she tells us constantly if she had the choice to move back home she would not - she absolutely loves it here. The workers are very nice and gracious.

It's important to note that my loved one doesn't like it here, but he wouldn't like it anywhere. From his point of view, it'd be a completely different perspective from mine because he doesn't want to be there, but knows he can't be at home. So he's unhappy with a lot of things. For example: the activities - I know they have them and they offer them, but he wont initiate or engage in them. He hasn't experienced them because he doesn't want to, even though we try to encourage him to do so. With the dining experience: they offer round the clock food with different items and three meals a day, but he only goes down for lunch although we try to encourage him to go down more often. But because he won't, we bring him extra food. He's not utilizing a lot of the services, so it's not as bad as what it may seem to be in his eyes. He has troubles speaking up in regards to care services, but from what I've seen they try to do things for him. Another example: he stopped physical therapy because his arms were hurting, but most times you have to build muscle which can result in soreness. So the perspective behind it is that unfortunately my loved one would not be happy anywhere. I know that right now every industry & staffing is an issue. What I've seen is a lot of different staff coming and going with Rock Creek and with that, there are some things that haven't been done. It appears to me that they are trying. The staff issue is noticeable, especially in his case. He really liked one lady and so did I, she was fantastic, but she left. There have been a string of people that have left including directors. There's been three directors since November. There are inconsistencies in the staffing area. There's no chef, but the times I've experienced the meals it hasn't been that bad. There have still been inconsistencies, as other residents there have mentioned that it's not the best. My loved one doesn't take full advantage, but some of the menu items and combinations have been a little questionable. For example: they had a July 4th party where they served hot dogs with beans. Staffing I think is an issue as people need more help, but when you have staff coming and going there are going to be inconsistencies. Although my loved one doesn't participate, as I walk through I've noticed that there are activities always going on. They have bingo, Uno, a lounge area, a workout area, and a garden. The medical at this point is great. He fell one time and had to go to the emergency room; they were right on top of that and made sure he got there. They recognized the fact that he had an infection gong on, so the medical staff seem to be on board and they know what's going on. The other day he made a comment and the head nurse and / or medical director came to him to clarify some things. So I think the medial staff does a pretty good job. One thing we were originally told from the Assisted Living Director, who is no longer there, was that a nurse practitioner would be there every month and that does happen; but we were also told that he would be able to see a Doctor once every six months. He hasn't seen a Doctor yet and it's been past that. I'm unsure if that was a misunderstanding or if its supposed to be included - but I think it'd be nice to have a Doctor who could come and speak with the residents. Rock Creek Senior Living is a nice facility and it's in a nice area. I picked my loved one's apartment which overlooks a greenery of trees and a creek. Some people don't always have that option, some people face the parking lot, so that aspect of it makes it a pretty nice place. It's located in a nice clean part of town. I also think it's great that they work in conjunction with the hospice service, whether it's immediate or a long-term event. That's a nice feature that the residents don't have to leave the community. The fact that they work hand in hand with a hospice service is a nice surprise for us.

Westbury has been understaffed and they were not ready to open when they did. They are continuing to bring in new residents even though they have not addressed the staffing issue. There is very little consistency. There are a lot of things that they need to improve on which includes medical (sometimes there is not a nurse on staff including this weekend), the meal service and activities. Communication has been a major issue, I do a lot of things that should be taken care of by them.
