True Connection Communities

New owners are focusing on facility updates that can be advertised and in the entrance area while not cleaning the carpets in the halls, the elevator floors, the windows and doors on the upper floors and back halls where we live. Hall air conditioning units continue to be an issue. Doors are suppose to have security looks, but several do not work and have never worked. There are no automatic door openers to assist handicap individuals. Having said all of that, the residents are wonder.

A large number of residents are not meeting the definition of "independent " I do really like my apartment. I would recommend this facility only with reservations.

The biggest complaint was around the food service. When we toured it was fabulous, but after she moved in the service became slow, the quality of the food was mediocre, lacked variety and certainly wasn't worth the long wait! Limiting which meals are available was a problem because she rarely took advantage of breakfast meals. Mom was still buying groceries and making her own meals more frequently than we had hoped. Although, I felt the activities offered were robust, my mom took little interest in the social life so the overall experience didn't justify the cost of the facility.

Management is erratic. Communication is lacking. Chef is good. However I had a "memorable" Thanksgiving dinner The turkey came from a roll, which appeared frozen, string beans were "old" and watery and worst of all no potatoes AT ALL.!!! (interesting that mashed potatoes were on the menus the following 2 days!) The apple pie was totally frozen. I used my utensils to help me pound the pie . I just lost my appetite . I was very disappointed and hungry. I also observed that many people at Verena are depressed . Fo the past 4 months there has been a large turnover in personnel. We need another bus to take us around and get out .We need more speakers I know that some residents are looking at other communities!

I have lived here for a couple of years and current management needs to listen to our complaints better. They need to address the problems quicker. HVAC filters need to be changed every 3 to 4 months, not 6 months. House cleaning needs to spend a longer time and do a better job.

The community and staff are good. The food offered is horrible. The quality of the food needs to be improved along with the quantity of food available to the residents. There is hardly any staff available in the kitchen either. There are two meals available to the residents daily, and there are choices. However, the choices provided is not the food that the kitchen has available, so they are not making changes to the menu. There was one time they closed the kitchen to give the staff the day off and provided Little Caesar's pizza to the residents for the meal.

Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby gave a nice tour. The staff very helpful and very friendly for the time that we were there. Their pricing was about the same as the place we chose, both of which were less than others we looked into. Pine Ridge Villas had more options as far as room selection. However it was a much bigger facility than we were looking for. The hallways were much longer, which would have been difficult for my loved one with mobility challenges to navigate.

Parc Place was on par with a couple other places I toured in the area, but I didn't like them. The facility didn't look clean. It had a smell to it like an old folks home. It was cheaper, but I just didn’t have a good feeling from it like I did from the place we chose.

We had a good tour with Verena at the Glen. It did have kind of a weird set up though, right when you walked in you were in the dining area and we were not the biggest fan of that.

They just changed hands, and the management is making changes. Due to new management, I would recommend you find another community. They keep changing the hours for meals. Most of the time you don't get what you ordered. The dining room is back up within the last two weeks

There's a third party care staff they offer with different pricing tiers, and I would recommend checking out what services they offer, for instance how many people would be on hand for an emergency, etc. Pine Ridge keeps the common spaces and apartments pretty clean generally. We've had some issues with the staff responding to the call button in a timely manner. My loved ones are not fans of the food. They've had a difficult time adjusting, but sometimes that's up to what you make of it.

The people are nice. They are changing ownership currently. During the pandemic the community shut down common areas and this was different than what was sold to us. Families weren't able to come visit. This was hard on the residents. The vaccines were originally slated to have the residents to find it out. They are now scheduled for [date removed]. There are residents who are looking to leave. The food is really good. The kitchen staff are amazing. There were maintenance issues and it took several calls to get items fixed. The maintenance man is very nice and able to get items fixed.

Friendly (most) Main concern reminds food (meat, potatoe, not jazz it up, and not know what it is).

The place looks nice enough, but I found the very fast way the lady said she was "all out" of apartments in my price range (despite that price range being one of the reasons we scheduled a tour) and whisked me off to look at some that were around 3-400 dollars higher to be rather off-putting. That aside, the facility itself seemed to be lovely - well maintained and all - just not the right "fit" for my family.

I did receive a phone call and [name removed] was extremely pleasant. My mom is on a fixed budget, so it was too expensive. Still, [name removed] was very nice.I would have given a higher mark had I gone in for a visit.

These are apartments. You have to access them from outside. The ones on the second floor have hallways with rails and you can use the elevator. So in order to go to the common areas or the office you have to walk outside. There nice spacious apartments but a little bit high in price for what they offer.

Many fun activities planned. [The] facility is clean, nicely decorated and well maintained. Maintenance staff is slow to respond to residents requests. Need to get nurse back they fired.

The furnishings in the rooms seemed outdated. The rooms were smaller than at the community we chose. The community did not seem as well cared for as other communities in the area. The grounds were nice and the staff were friendly.

My mother moved here recently and she is becoming acclimated. The staff has done a very good job of welcoming her and are very friendly.They could do a better job at breakfast.Sometimes the food is skimpy and they could offer more variety. Also, the existing residents should be more welcoming and encouraging to the newer residents. Sometimes my mom will go down to eat and can't find a seat because people have "reserved" them.
