Overall, Truewood by Merrill Bradenton is a pretty good facility. However, the night shift isn't so good with meds and there is only one nurse for the whole facility. My loved one was a resident there for three weeks and then I pulled her out.

Although improvements were being made inside and out, got tired of tracking through sand to get into building, did not like seeing a pile of cigarette butts at the door, smell inside was unpleasant also. Staff was friendly and pleasant to work with. Often times short staffed especially when it was time to go to the dining room. This is the worst part of the facility, food was seldom very good, People started lining up in the hallways 30 to 45 minutes before the dining room open, I soon figured out it was because they run out of food quite often and then left with the second choice on the menu which was not very good. It is sad when a cafeteria worker comes in and tells you that they have run out of food and you're going to have choice B, they got all they had from independent living so assisted-living got the leftovers. I felt like assisted-living people were treated like second-class citizens. Did not participate in any activities, so cannot really rate. This was one of the less expensive places around, so you basically get what you pay for. My mothers experience, would recommend when they get all issues straightened out, there are certain things that cannot be corrected that being only one elevator for a large number of units for assisted-living and the very long narrow hallways.

Dining service wait, additional housekeeping staff, site clearance of 29 two story villas with no information as to future parking and access, elevator repair/adequacy, outside lighting are all areas of improvement. As a early advocate and influencer for senior/assisted living in Oklahoma 1976-2008 I see positive signs of dramatic improvements in the Oaks since I moved from Port Charlotte after Hurricane Ian in October, 2022. The Oaks is on the path of reinvestment and reformulation of their ALS business model.

When it comes to the overall experience, we do wish there was more availability when it comes to physical therapy, massage and case management - especially about VA case management connection. For the care services they seem to be disconnected with adapting to personal needs. I expected more advocacy on the part of staff. Instead it's the least involvement that looks uncaring.

We toured The Oaks of Clearwater during our search for Independent Living for our loved one and it was okay. However, the facility felt very institutional to us. We decided to continue with our search and to keep looking.

Our family had an in person tour with Balmoral Assisted Living and overall it was a nice tour experience, but comparing it to a newer facility it just was not going to be the place for our loved one. They also were dealing with damage from the recent hurricane that hit.

Areas we think Spring Haven Retirement could improve on - the overall cleanliness of the common areas. They could have better desserts. However our loved ones enjoys the meals they provide, and she enjoys the other residents. It is a nice community, but they do have areas that could be worked on.

Elevator issue's constantly. Mail is always lost, never makes it into their mailbox, even after multiple complaints. Aides aren't always available due to being understaffed. Dryers are taking much longer to dry residents clothes now. House keeping is suppose to come daily but has only is only coming 3 days a week lately. Nobody seems to know who is responsible for what. Always have reconfirm issues to be handled/fixed. A lot of promises were made up front but after move in were quickly forgotten. But management seems to be striving to get better. The Memory Care floor (which my parents live on) has had a lot disturbances from the amount of unstable residents. Management has yet to come up with any solutions. Montessori program promised, still has not been implemented and we have been paying since September 2022. Understaffed. Too much salt, oil, breaded foods. Need more healthy choices. Ranges from too bland to over spiced. Need more middle of the road. Activities - 3 stars but to be fair my parents aren't very big on participating. For value for cost large floorplan is a big factor in this response.

They have been great. They changed chef's, so things have really changed in the kitchen. The woman who is over the activities is great. I picked this community because the reviews talked about it being homey, and it was less expensive othan other places. It feels like family, especially with the smaller group setting in the dining area. They are very understaffed, and it would be nice if they could higher more workers. Also, they could improve on the cleanliness of the grounds, interior( carpet, furnitire, and etc)and more regular housekeeping services.

I think the staff is lovely and very nice. My loved one seems pleased with the food. I'm just disappointed that they have not gotten their dining room going yet, which limits the true social and family experience. Also they have two elevators, and one has been down since November. Spring Haven is a for-profit senior living community, and I feel that because of that they are not giving the proper attention to the building.

This tour was of the memory care unit. Their staff was nice, but the place seemed kind of dreary and run down, and didn't seem to have the same level of activities as the facility we ended up at. Spring Haven assisted living side looked nicer than the memory care side, but we didn't take a tour of the assisted living side. We were told there was a plan to renovate the memory care side at Spring Haven at some point. If they made those renovations, the overall tour would be a 4/5.

For the most part the interior is fine, but the exteior part is not well kept. They are adminstering his medication and meals. It had a lot of turneover-with staff. For 88 years old, he's in pretty good shape, it's the mental state-memory that he needs assitance with.. He seems fairly content with the food. The cost is fairly reasonalbe compared to other places. Good for him, not real big. Not fancy. They have some activities. Overall it's a smaller setting which might be good for some folks. They have 3-4 floors, and each one has a wing. They have cafeteria style eating. That's nice which is more intimate.

It's a nice place, and overall its a good deal. The activities director is very busy all the time. Activities include get togethers with musical guests and entertainment, crafts, bowling, Margarita Monday's, etc.. My apartment is the 1 bedroom with a fridge, cabinet space, and a nice bathroom. I also have a fairly big closet. I would recommend Truewood by Merrill Bradenton to others.

I really liked The Princess Martha when I toured it a few years ago. When I was ready to move, it was a definite possibility because I saw no negatives when I saw it the first time. I found it hilarious, there was a man in his underwear drinking coffee standing outside of his room, it made me laugh.

Out of the three communities I toured, Spring Haven was at the bottom of my list. They have a much bigger campus than where I chose, and I have mobility issues. The people who live there didn't seem to be as friendly and that does make a difference. I've spoken to people at my community and they said they chose it because residents spoke to them during the tour.
