She is not there anymore. We left her there two weeks and she was miserable. It wasn't the right place. She was always alone in her room and we could tell it wasn't working out; the personal attention wasn't there. We have since hired a live-in care giver for her at home, and that is working out much better.

With some good aspects. [name removed], second floor nurse, was excellent. The location of the facility was good. There were some standouts, but there were a lot of people that were just not happy to be there and were not kind to my husband. A lot of the staff were not qualified to handle my husband's health challenges. My husband's dietary needs were rarely honored. [name removed] did not participate in many activities. it is good to note that there are two elevators for the entire place... and there are 14 floors I think. And the dining room is on the first floor. Not great.

As a whole it was not a very pleasant experience. I understand that they recently acquired new owners and were trying to make improvements cosmetically, but there were a lot of things that they will not be able to change. The building is way too large for a very understaffed labor force. Hallways are very long and narrow and unnavigable with two people on wheelchairs or walkers trying to pass each other unless one steps into a cubbyhole at the doorway. Did not like people sitting on the balcony over entryway smoking and throwing cigarette butts down on the ground making a large pile at the entryway. Nine out of 10 times , facility smelled of urine or animals, dogs. I felt like I was constantly in a battle in everything I try to get done. And some things never got done especially with maintenance, very poor staff. Most caregivers were nice, but overworked and slow to respond usually. Biggest downfall for my mom that I experienced also was the whole dining room experience. It was pathetic to see a bunch of people lined up 30 minutes before the dining room opens for assisted-living clogging up the hallway and around the only elevator that serviced all of those floors in a rush to get into the dining room because as I witnessed on more than one occasion, assisted living got the leftovers from independent living dining room and if the first choice ran out cafeteria worker would holler out sorry no more choice A, so you are going to have to have choice B. Constantly ran out of salad and my mom came from a facility that had a full-blown salad bar. She did not like the seating arrangement, never knew where she was going to be seated or who she was going to be with. All of that being said it was a UTI that landed her into another facility where she is very happy and it is a much better fit for her. Unfortunately I would not recommend Spring Haven to anyone

It’s nice but mediocre. You get what you pay for. My grandma doesn’t have the biggest budget and this was the only decent place that takes Medicaid. Staff is nice, but the smell is like urine in some places of the building. New to the facility, but hoping for better changes.

Just like jail-3 hots and a cot. The quality and quantity of food leaves a lot to be desired. You better hope you like chicken and fish, because both are served 4 times a week. You should also make sure you show up right on time for meal service or else you won't get a meal. Today's lunch was half a grilled cheese sandwich, flavorless beef broth with a few vegetables, and seasoned squash. The swimming pool has been closed for 40 days while they repair the patio in what had been one of the hottest summers on record. They don't seem to be in any hurry to finish the job either. Incompetency runs rampant in the assisted living area. The head of nursing refuses to order residents medications, and as a result they go days without necessary medications. In the 2 years I've lived here we have had 3 management companies and 6 executive directors. The final straw was at dinner when we were told there's no coffee because the company that provides the machines haven't been paid in 6 months.

If you care for your loved one, this is not the place for them. My wife entered the facility in the middle of [date removed] and was admitted to the skilled unit on the 2nd floor. There are four beds in a room. Not a good health practice. Some of the staff is helpful and some I found in the break area using cell phones for long periods many times. I also noticed that at times when the food trays were placed on the table, sometimes the food was not warm. The quality of food is not good. I noticed that some of the staff would take the leftover food that the patients did not eat.The rooms and hallways are not that clean. On one evening there was a flood in my the room my wife was staying, The aids placed a bed sheet on the floor and said maintenance will look sometime the next day. In the middle of [date removed] [name removed] (a wannabe social worker) is not capable for her position My wife had many falls and half many were not reported on record. Do not send your loved one here.

Memory Care has a definite lack of interaction/ activity for the residents. The courtyard is very abandoned with unsafe/ broken furniture and uneven walkway and the door is frequently locked to access the outside area. The residents are cooped up and stuck with/in front of TV for greater part of the day.

Our experience at this facility was not great. They were very understaffed. I will say that most of the staff they did have really tried, but there just wasn't enough of them. Housekeeping wasn't great, it never really looked clean. The laundry service, however, was fantastic. My loved one's laundry came back crisp, clean, and folded nicely like it came from the dry cleaners. Communication with the family was pretty good. The director of the Assisted Living side was excellent. She was the one really good thing about this facility. The food was a hit or miss. Sometimes it was good, sometimes it was terrible. The hallways are really tight, 2 people with wheelchairs or even walkers could not get by at the same time. The building itself is very old, it's not a pretty place. But my loved one was on a budget and could only afford what she could afford. This facility wasn't our first choice, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I do feel like they didn't place my loved one at the level of care that she needed. She was placed at a lower level than I feel like she should have been and it seemed as though that was done because they knew they didn't have enough staff to provide anymore residents with higher levels of care. I would not recommend this facility to family and friends unless it's all that they could afford. If you have no choice/limited funds, it's at least a place to be.

The facility is run down, short staffed, bad food, lack of activities and a depressing environment. The construction work in the Memory care area to fix plumbing leaks has been taking months to fix. It has displaced so many residents from their rooms and dining areas. There is no regard for the horrible living conditions there.

Most Med techs are there just for the job. They lack in taking the residents in memory care outside. My loved one always had trouble with meds. They were found in his room or pocket. Eye drops were rarely given.

Spring Haven is very institutional looking. It is such a large facility that I knew my mom would have a very hard time finding her way around. The staff were not as friendly or welcoming as some others we visited. It just did not feel like home.

The main issues are that they are very unresponsive, it is very hard to get a hold of anyone to go and check on her. The kitchen has been under construction for 3 months now and the residents are having to eat off of the cheapest paper plates you can buy and drink out of little Styrofoam cups. I would not recommend Truewood by Merrill Bradenton to other families looking.

This community is absolutely fantastic outside but inside it is one little room. You could lay in the middle of the room and almost touch both sides. I wanted a bigger area for my living space. I feel like this community needs to be redone, the outside is so beautiful.
