We were told that the community would check on our loved one once per hour, and make sure she was eating and that didn't happen. They didn't communicate issues including falls to us in a timely manner. I would not recommend this community to others.

I am too claustrophobic for retirement living. They are money hungry, all about the money not the residents. Rooms were too small. Staff was good. They have places outdoors where you can take your dogs off their leash.

Not enough staff to handle all the problems in a swift manner.

This place is very dirty. Part time unfriendly top managers. Do not put your family members here.

Big campus facility. ALF, independent, and Memory Care sections to the building. The memory care area was under construction at the time, and I tried to look past that, but the common areas were small, with old, outdated furniture that also seemed cheap and flimsy. I would only consider this an options if my Grandmother could move to ALF and have a private room. The rooms were set up like actual apartments with a kitchenette, a living room, and a bedroom.

This community I toured for my mother's care. The community was clean and taken care of. They do offer activities. We did not see the meals. I think other families might see this community to see if it would be a good fit for their family member to care and value.

I am not happy with the care that my mother has received She does not like the food or strict eating schedules. Facility is not well maintained and is not sanitary for other than independent living. She is already looking to move out. We would not recommend this community.

A big disappointment with the Holiday Retirement property. Very narrow hallways, too.

Did not like this facility at all. Was old looking not updated and frankly not too clean. Went to visit a resident in his studio apt which felt more like a hospital room with a kitchenette

I wasn't very impressed with my tour of this community. The community looked a bit wore down. I would say it needs some up dating. The appearance wasn't very appealing to us. It looked like a place to you would when you were close to the end of your life. Just wasn't the community for my parent and their needs.

Our experience with Summerfield Retirement hasn't been a good one. My loved one is in their memory care wing, and from what I have seen they are just not staffed appropriately to properly handle the needs of memory care residents. The facility just seems understaffed in general, and the people they do have seem young and under-trained, as well as being somewhat rude at times. The response times for care issues are slow, and I've also had problems getting reponses to maintenance issues and with their laundry service. They are apparently looking for more staff members, but at the time of this review what they have is not adequate.

Did not accept me because I was not "weight bearing." They no longer have ECC license. Didn't like the place anyway - very disorganized and somewhat messy, with only one unit design large enough.

My Father moved in here March of 2013. Everyone was very helpful in the move in and it all seemed fine. This facility is in Florida and I am in Ohio so communication was very important to me. Overall they did a good job contacting me if something happened. Until they didn't. He had some issues with falling and one day I get a call from a hospital saying he had been admitted after going to the emergency room. THREE DAYS EARLIER. Springhaven never contacted me to tell me he had been taken at all. He had been confused they tell me later and then fallen. It wasn't until the hospital finally got my contact information that I heard about it. Unfortunately he passed away a couple of weeks later. We were able to spend some time with him before he passed which I'm thankful for. Now at this point I'm taking care of his estate and need paperwork for Long Term Care insurance to be reimbursed. Mind you this should have been being done by them so my Father would have the money in his account to pay for his stay. They were a couple of months behind. Good luck getting a hold of them after someone dies to get everything in order. I finally searched for the company that owns them and called them and finally got some action. It was very frustrating dealing with all of this while also processing a parents death. Maybe my situation was an isolated one. I hope so.

Their communication could be better. When my loved one went to the hospital, but they never called me. I called to find out why and they haven’t gotten back to me. He seemed to be okay there though. I don’t even know if he was wearing shoes when he left – what happened to his wallet.

Don’t go there. They didn’t take good care of my grandmother. They ruined her clothes so we had to buy new ones. The food was not great. It just wasn’t a good experience now. It’s not a good community to bring a loved one to.

Not one to add to the list! It was very dark and dingy looking. It didn't look like anyone was happy there at all. It was a bunch of depressed old people. In terms of care, I didn't see any staff there. The facility itself was not that nice. It really felt depressing.

Spoke with Marcy week of July 7 '13. She is to send info to Dad. Not licensed for assisted living. If need help must bring it in. Hospice can come in. 2 bed on north side of bldg $2350. Lg 1 bed on shaft $2250. Dad feels too old doesn't want!

I toured Sunset Lake Village looking for a place for my husband and myself. I didn’t like this place. I really didn’t see anything spectacular about this community at all, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others.

I am having a lot of problems with them. When I took my mom there, I was told that there was an RN during the day, but she is not an RN, she is an LPN, but technically she is not even an LPN because she hasn't sat before the board. There have been several med errors; she fell and ended up in the hospital, and they didn't notify me of anything. Two different times she went without medication for the majority of the day. The so called head nurse is not head of anything. Since the new company took over it has pretty much gone to hell. I talked with the lady at the Medicaid office, and she really didn't like what she saw when they inspected the place. They are sending their top nurses out to do another evaluation. I am really upset. It is a beautiful place and in the beginning they were doing really good and the food was wonderful. Now she get to choose between a turkey or ham sandwich.

Feels like an institution. Not well kept. Does not feels homey. Needs a lot of work.
