I think all of the staff are great. The dining probably works ok for the residents, but is limited for guests. I'm a vegetarian and there is about one option per meal and it's the same, so I don't eat there much despite my mom asking. The dining experience is great. The place is very clean and comfortable, the apartments are nice, the activities are good (but could still have more variety) and my mom is fitting in well. Best of all, its 2 blocks from my house, so I can take care of my mom easier.

Nice people, they know answers or know where to get them. Apartments are fine, they aren't big but big enough. Amenities are what they list.

The staff is very welcoming friendly and helpful. So far the food has been great. Lots of variety and The Culinary department is open to suggestions from the residents. There are plenty of activities whether it's games, music from a religion or just coffee time with other residents. There's also a happy hour on Friday afternoons. I give this rating because the rooms themselves are a little outdated but the building itself is kept up to date even though it's 20 some years old. I do have a washer/dryer in my unit and that was important to me. There are rooms available that have a balcony or patio or also a gas fireplace. Mine does not have any of those amenities. I also don't feel I was giving much of a choice of rooms when I moved in. It seemed they only had one available for me although I know after I moved in there are a lot of other new residents so I'm not sure what the situation was there. I definitely do not have one of the nicer rooms. The bedroom is good size the living room is a little small the bath/ shower is nice. Lighthouse keeping is done every other week at no additional charge to your rent. And one meal is included per day and no additional charge.

I chose to stay at the Waters of Kingsley Shores. I found out that prices were about the same everywhere in the area. I've made friends here. The new administration, which took over in August, tries to accommodate requests. Our rent by [date removed] will be $[fee removed] more than when we moved here. The $[fee removed].per second resident will be raised to $[fee removed]. We are charged a $[fee removed].fee just to live in AL even though we don't require assistance at this time. The facility is very close to our daughter. We don't have the energy to move right now.

The only thing I would say that was negative, is that I wasn’t sure how often they consistently conducted their activities to keep the tenants engaged. My mom definitely needed that and I just wasn’t sure how consistent that was throughout the day. Otherwise, I thought the place was fabulous, it was clean, And we were very happy with Mom’s care there.

Broadwell offered many of the things we were looking for in a home for Mom. She is very happy with the design, size, and features in her apartment. The staff is friendly and they do work hard to provide activities and options for the residents. They hold monthly meetings to hear concerns and suggestions from the residents. Their biggest struggle has been the culinary offerings and staff levels....it is an ongoing work in progress.

We chose Broadwell Senior Living because the facility was clean, they have a fitness center onsite, there is the ability to have PT appointments onsite, many activities and the friendly staff. There does seem to be a lot of staff turnover. Not confident in the ability to provide nursing assistance if it becomes necessary.

It is a lovely facility, and I do like the layouts of the assisted-living apartments. The balcony option is very nice. They have fun activities for the residents and a highlight is on Thursdays, they have a social hour from 3 PM to 5 PM for everyone. It is nice that they have a salon right on site and also a nail option manicure/pedicure. They are very welcoming and friendly. However, I feel, depending on what kind of care is to be given to the resident that the aides/staff should be better trained and prepared. They do need to make some improvements on their culinary system, but I believe they are working on that. Overall, I would recommend the facility. My parents are happy there and that is what is most important.

Would recommend, however, not enough kitchen staff so meals are late or not well prepared. Both overcooked and undercooked. It is shocking that a low sodium diet is not offered. There is not enough care in preparing the food. For example it is common that desserts are still frozen or the directions for re-heating frozen pie are not followed. They have a new culinary director which has improved things a bit. The food is too dry. Meat is frequently overcooked. The fish is usually excellent. There does not seem to be any quality control. No one tastes the food. Great place to live, excellent.

The staff in memory care is wonderful. I was not as impressed when Dad was in assisted living. It was great he stayed in the same apartment, but among other things there were staffing changes going on at the time we were moving Dad to assisted living and I had to follow up a lot or I felt he would have fallen through the cracks. My dad has lived at The Waters for about a year and we are on our 3rd medical director. I am hopeful the new one will stay. The director of the facility is friendly, but I feel he delegates my questions. This may be appropriate for his role, but I feel "put off" at times. The head chef in the restaurant is new. They serve a lot of chicken dishes. I don't know how much fresh fruit my dad gets so I try to bring that for him. Memory Care doesn't have a microwave or an ice maker, so that is inconvenient and the refrigerator in his room is dorm size, so the freezer is pretty much useless. We chose The Waters because of the location. The admission person, [name removed], is wonderful. The decor is bright and friendly. The ladies at the concierge desk, {names removed], are so welcoming, helpful and friendly.

I would say if you have time, shop around. Word of mouth and resident recommendations are helpful if you have the time to spend. We picked this community because it was close to family. They had newer units that hasn't been lived in. Had just 2-3 weeks to make decision.Staffing is the biggest issue. Not enough. Weekends are worse than weekdays.

Positive comments for [name removed], the activity director - takes input from residents and provides a variety of activities. The handyman has been very helpful. Housekeeping for the residents is not great and they have had a lot of turnover. Food is okay, not great. My mom has no real complaints about it because she doesn't have to prepare it.
