My wife needed more care than they were able to provide. There are many add on charges, and the rates just kept getting higher and higher. It was not the place for my wife and her needs.

Brookdale has a new manager - this seems to be a big improvement. Brookdale Hermitage is also to start new ownership in 2024. Unfortunately my experience with Brookdale is while they were in trouble. The cook left abruptly - one night the management finally ordered pizzas because there was no one to cook dinner. Housekeeping and nursing staff were pulled to cook. Staff was going through great turnover and often short staffed. Staff suddenly taking vacation and not returning. No one to transport or drive bus for doctor appointments. This was at the same time that my mother's health was declining. Also great inconsistencies in medication administration, mother not kept clean, room often smelled of urine, mother developed a bed sore. I brought in Hospice who informed me they had no nursing assistants. A couple of Brookdale nurses and one nursing assistant were able to help me when they were on duty . They are under new management and I believe they are getting their act together.

Our family had an in person tour and the staff members were very friendly but the facility was a bit run down. We did like the dining area. The residents are allowed to help themselves to fruit and other items throughout the day if they wish.
We do think Brookdale Fort Myers is a very nice facility, but overall we have had a very disappointing experience. We feel there are some hygiene issues that are not being taken care of, our loved ones room is not always kept clean. We wanted a place that has activities and while this community does they do nothing to help get our loved one engaged or any type of encouragement. We feel that when we bring up questions or concerns to the staff and management they listen and say it will get done but never does, so there is no real follow through.

I would not recommend Belvedere Commons of Franklin to others for their loved ones. They didn't have enough staff. In fact, there were times I couldn't find a staff member to answer a question, especially in the memory care unit. It was very difficult to have a conversation via phone or email, it was a little better if the conversation was done in person. The number I would call would ring into the assisted living area, and then a staff member from assisted living, would have to leave and go to the memory care unit in another building to find the answer out for me. My loved one was able to leave the community after being moved to the memory care due to construction workers leaving a door open. There was another staff member that caught my loved one and was able to get my loved one back in to the community, and called me to inform me of this. I overall was very displeased with the experience. The community always had an unpleasant smell to it. The bathroom in my loved one's room was never really clean and the toilet wouldn't flush. Some of the caregivers I couldn't understand very well due to a heavy accent. The only way I would recommend the community is for the assisted living portion and if your loved one was able to assist with their own care.

LOOKING FOR MEMORY CARE ONLY! This is a very quaint property and a bit aged. There are two buildings one for assisted care in the other is called the village for memory care. The buildings age is reflected in narrow hallways but also has a very homey feel. There are three sections that house about 10 rooms each and open up into the hallway that leads to a common area with a lunch counter style sitting area for meals and activities with tables placed at various areas. Each section is dedicated one for males, one for females, and one for combination. The three sections open into a common hallway that they are able to go into and enter any of the sections they wish to, but they need to be able to be able to grasp the doorhandle and open it. Otherwise the doors stay closed. There is access to outdoor areas with lush vegetation. The rooms are tiny, and able to convert into double occupancy rooms. However, even with a semi wall separating the two beds the room becomes very cramped and the roommates very close to each other when they sleep. We feel on mom would not have the presence of mind to open any doors to explore and would feel closed-in by the tight surroundings around her. Staff appeared to be very nice and competent. Company: License: Combined Assisted Care and Memory Care? YES Our Memory Care is a separate building from our Assisted Living. # of rooms: 30 Access to outdoors? I wasn't very impressed with my experience with this community. When I first called to set up my tour, the lady that I spoke with informed me she wasn't going to be there, but someone would help me. When I arrived on time for my tour, nobody was ready to give me the tour. Once someone finally became available, the tour was decent. I didn't feel this would be the community for me.

65 residents - very sterile environment - not very homelike. Noticeable odors - one area smelled like feces had not been properly cleaned up - and another area smelled like there was mildew damage. The memory care area seemed dark and like the residents were in another world from the rest of the building. I did not like this at all for my MIL. This was not the place for my loved one but the administrator was very cordial and answered all questions and concerns that I had. Very affordable - but needs work so that the atmosphere is more homelike

The director of excitement is what keeps us there. Without [Removed] there would be no Grace!!! The great staff i.e. CNAs and HHa are now scheduled off more than they work. How long will they be able to keep them? A number of residents are way down...like it was when the state came in last summer and shut them down. The residents are the ones that suffer when numbers are down. They have a marketing guy but really he's in the building too much to really be selling Grace. So once again the so-called chef-inspired meals are white bread hoagies with chips for dinner. No nutritional balance for seniors! Where the fruit Salads etc. Every meal needs vegetables for fiber etc. Not one person in the meal prep is a chef. Cooks yes!\There an executive director but she is never there and very out of touch with residents and families and I have observed her with the staff she seems to be mad all the time. A micromanager who doesn't know her job. Bring back [Removed]!! I see that the staff is struggling to met the residents needs due to the lack of hours and support . The Med Director is great. Smiles and accommodates everyone and is another reason we stay. She knows her stuff. We pay a pretty penny and to be honest the level of care, food are way down. Have been for 4 months. All summer. Thank goodness for [Removed] you keeps everyone busy and engaged!! It used to be a 4 star...not anymore!! Lets hope they get it together or 5 of us are going to move and then there will be only 12 on the assisted living side

We toured this community. We did not like the atmosphere. It was not clean and needed a lot of improvements in the cleaning. The community was dark and we wanted to the community that was more cheerful for environments. We would not recommend this community. We did not see a menu of if activities are offered.

I would not put my worst enemy at Belvedere. If they want their family member to be cold, hungry, dirty, treated with no respect by staff, and get no assistance whatsoever then Belvedere would be the place for them. My family member had feces on his floor in his room, and they never cleaned it up. He asked them where he might find a lightbulb and they told him to go to Home Depot. He has dementia the director told him by the automatic opening doors that he'd need to go to Home Depot. Even the medical staff where their coat while the two office workers sit in the front of the facility with their doors shut so they can stay warm. The staff is rude to family and residence. The laundry does not get done. The bedsheets are not changed. They had bedbugs. I saw people residents, days in a row and the exact same clothes not having been bathed or cleaned, and God only knows how long. If I was a company recommending assistance for families looking for a place to put their loved ones I would remove Belvedere from my list! I doubt they could pass a health inspection by the health department! Needless to say my loved one was there less than a month!

My aunt, whom I am POA for has lived at the Pavillion for almost 8 years now. I DO NOT recommend this place. In the last few years it seems they cannot keep a director more than six months. Phone calls are never returned. Note that I live in Venice and can visit when I wish and I have been hard pressed to find anyone in charge any weekday that I went there. I must say however that the CNA's and aides are caring but they can only do what they can with an individual owner that seems to care little. They had a major mold problem about a year ago, that has so called been fixed. The last year or so the elevator does not work. They are continually having to reset it. This is an extremely old building with 3 floors. Most of the residents are on walkers or even some in wheelchairs. Imagine these people trying to make it down a stairwell in a fire. I even spoke with the Fire Chief of Venice, he said there was nothing he could do because the building has sprinklers.

The LPN that provides health assessments is terrible she spends a brief 10 minutes asking questions like: Do they know the date, can they memorize 3 words and repeat them after 10 minutes? ,etc. She makes a decision on their need for memory care after this brief encounter. If your loved one doesn't pass, nobody tells you, they just pretend like your going to come back and sign a lease and then they have their memory care unit call you the next day. Brookdale puts people in memory care if they don't know the date. That is a great financial decision for them, but not the best decision for the person. I had 2 other facilities recommend my loved one for assisted living, not memory care. The rooms are small, but cute. One complete hallway smelled like a dirty catbox due to one of the residents. That was really the only thing I found bothersome, other than being completely wronged and not communicated with.

Our family had a terrible experience related to safety, cleanliness, and overall care. My husband was able to get out of facility twice. Housekeeping was negligible was odor of urine throughout! The care an services provided were grossly misrepresented from the start. For starters, he was able to get out twice. Once due to gate left open and unattended. The director actually saw him walking outside in front of facility headed to Royal Parkway. On another occasion, he was brought back to Belvedere by a nice couple who saw him walking on Royal PKW and knew something was wrong. It could have ended badly. Food portions were small and cold. I was told he would be assisted eating. Only one of the aides did that. She worked nights and I can't remember name. I took food myself almost every day and left snacks. Prominent smell of urine throughout facility causing feet to stick to floor. The toilet in the commons areas was beyond nasty with excrement and urine. I was told he would have some type of physical activity. That did not happen. One of us (children or myself) were there every day at different times. I realize he had Alzheimer's and might not be able to do group activities, but was told he would get 1 on 1 stimulation during the week. Difficult to get information. I was told I could call and check on him. Seldom did anyone answer...especially at night. It was equally difficult to reach director or nurse for information. One nurse spoke very little English. We were in process of locating another facility when a UTI sent him to [name removed] and thankfully a spot opened at [community name removed] where he received quality care. Interestingly, [community name removed] cost comparison with Belvedere was negligible. Very short staff. 1 person on duty at night. It was a nightmare experience. I don't understand how it has remained open.
