The room was old, sad and sterile

Her room was extremely sad, it was horrible. The condition of the bed she slept in was bad. With that in mind, she was not there to live. It was just a short stay, but from what I saw being in that room for 2 weeks would have depressed me. It was just old and sad and sterile. The general lobby was fine.

I felt this was an ok place. I did not like the fact that they discounted the need for memory care almost immediately based on my descriptions. The lady I had an appt with was late and the facility was not as inviting as I would like.

Nice place for the most part, could use more staff at night

I think for the most part they do a fine job at Belvedere Commons, the facility itself is well kept and clean, and the staff work hard to take care of the people who live here. Unfortunately it has not been a great fit for us, as the level of care they are able to deliver isn't quite at the level my loved one needs. They are able to provide for him just fine during the day, but their staffing levels at night do not allow them to keep a close eye on him. We are having to bring in additional assistance to make sure he is watched at night.

I am having one major issue.

I am having one major issue. The day to day care and the staff and facility have been good. I don't have complaints about how clean it is, or the staff, or the food, none of that stuff. My problem is with billing and administration. There are a lot of extra charges, and they charge extra for everything, even things you may not need. The charges have been as much as 4 times the original price. I'm told one thing from one person, and then something else by a different person.

Nice. Very Hospitable and kind. Residents and staff seem to genuinely like each other and have repoir. we came when they were about to play a movie. Clean and tidy, but a bit tired in decor. Room floorplans are small. Passed the 'smell' test!

With Covid, they did the best they could. Brookdale would be a good facility with the proper staffing.

The director and the sales director went way above and beyond. They are absolutely wonderful, fabulous people doing the best they can trying to meet expectations. They're having some staffing issues, but that's just the Covid situation right now, everywhere you go. They've been without an activities director, which as been hard. But the managerial staff is fabulous. There could be a little more hands on care and more encouragement. But most of the nurses are very nice and very good. They're very tolerant. My loved one could be a bad pill, and they really and truly were incredibly sweet and great to her, especially the night time nurses.

would not be my first choce

My uncle was there for three years, many articles were stolen and their prices kept getting higher. Food was okay. Med staff was at times difficult and my uncle was always drugged. We had to leave him there because it was a locked facility. If a family has other choices..choose Brockdale last.

They do not follow through

This community is fine for a respite stay. I do not see that they follow through with what they say. They do not keep the residents rooms as clean as they should. The rest of the community is ok, although there is a strong odor. The community seems to be understaffed on the weekends. The staff do not always seem attentive to the residents. They currently do not have access to call for assistance from the bathroom.

Under new management

Brookdale has a new manager - this seems to be a big improvement. Brookdale Hermitage is also to start new ownership in 2024. Unfortunately my experience with Brookdale is while they were in trouble. The cook left abruptly - one night the management finally ordered pizzas because there was no one to cook dinner. Housekeeping and nursing staff were pulled to cook. Staff was going through great turnover and often short staffed. Staff suddenly taking vacation and not returning. No one to transport or drive bus for doctor appointments. This was at the same time that my mother's health was declining. Also great inconsistencies in medication administration, mother not kept clean, room often smelled of urine, mother developed a bed sore. I brought in Hospice who informed me they had no nursing assistants. A couple of Brookdale nurses and one nursing assistant were able to help me when they were on duty . They are under new management and I believe they are getting their act together.

Brookdale Fort Myers review

We do think Brookdale Fort Myers is a very nice facility, but overall we have had a very disappointing experience. We feel there are some hygiene issues that are not being taken care of, our loved ones room is not always kept clean. We wanted a place that has activities and while this community does they do nothing to help get our loved one engaged or any type of encouragement. We feel that when we bring up questions or concerns to the staff and management they listen and say it will get done but never does, so there is no real follow through.

An Unavoidable Mistake in Selection

I would not recommend Belvedere Commons of Franklin to others for their loved ones. They didn't have enough staff. In fact, there were times I couldn't find a staff member to answer a question, especially in the memory care unit. It was very difficult to have a conversation via phone or email, it was a little better if the conversation was done in person. The number I would call would ring into the assisted living area, and then a staff member from assisted living, would have to leave and go to the memory care unit in another building to find the answer out for me. My loved one was able to leave the community after being moved to the memory care due to construction workers leaving a door open. There was another staff member that caught my loved one and was able to get my loved one back in to the community, and called me to inform me of this. I overall was very displeased with the experience. The community always had an unpleasant smell to it. The bathroom in my loved one's room was never really clean and the toilet wouldn't flush. Some of the caregivers I couldn't understand very well due to a heavy accent. The only way I would recommend the community is for the assisted living portion and if your loved one was able to assist with their own care.

Memory Care
July 4, 2017

LOOKING FOR MEMORY CARE ONLY! This is a very quaint property and a bit aged. There are two buildings one for assisted care in the other is called the village for memory care. The buildings age is reflected in narrow hallways but also has a very homey feel. There are three sections that house about 10 rooms each and open up into the hallway that leads to a common area with a lunch counter style sitting area for meals and activities with tables placed at various areas. Each section is dedicated one for males, one for females, and one for combination. The three sections open into a common hallway that they are able to go into and enter any of the sections they wish to, but they need to be able to be able to grasp the doorhandle and open it. Otherwise the doors stay closed. There is access to outdoor areas with lush vegetation. The rooms are tiny, and able to convert into double occupancy rooms. However, even with a semi wall separating the two beds the room becomes very cramped and the roommates very close to each other when they sleep. We feel on mom would not have the presence of mind to open any doors to explore and would feel closed-in by the tight surroundings around her. Staff appeared to be very nice and competent.
