They're good on some things and really not good on others. They are good with activities and their food is good and the arrangements of not having to move from independent to assisted is really nice. You get to stay in your own apartment and you just add services. The food is prepared by a chef and they have many choices. I think they try to do a good job with all of that but they don't follow through with anything they promise they're going to do. It's been really frustrating. First, I had to renegotiate the lease agreement because what they told us and what was in the legal document didn't match. It started there. Then my mom took a fall in the dining room. After rehab I wanted to bring in a cake in for her but I needed someone to make sure she went to the dining room because she doesn't like going down there. They said absolutely we'll make sure that happens. I called to verify, they assured me a nurse would go and get her. I got a cake and brought it to the dining room. I go up after work, she's sitting in the dark in her room. No one came to get her for dinner. That seems simple but that was a huge thing for my mom and they didn't follow through. There were other times that they said they were going to have a psychologist see her because she's having a hard time integrating. They said I needed to get the paperwork in by 9/10. I had it in on the 8th or 9th and called on the 10th to confirm. They said I got the paperwork in too late. The facility is beautiful and they have a lot of opportunity there but they have a huge problem with their communication. It's one thing after another and it's just really frustrating.

Visted Amethyst Gardens, connected to Amethyst Arbor? Not as nice as Atria - possibly declining? Big apts though. Nice green belts. Billiard/poker area bedraggled. Library not as impressive as atria. Slightly lesser clientele.

Property is attractive. Seems a bit close to the airport (plane noise), and no mention of pet acceptance.

Toured with Director, nice but dated, across Union Hills from Westbrook.

Looks very nice. Aging in place! 494 and 35E. Probably airport noise; beneath new runway flight path.

This place was nice, but to large in area. Also they are under construction in parts of the building.

Gorgious setting, nice apartments, food pretty good.

The view from either direction in this building was fabulous. The place is very affordable for my mom and meets a lot of her criteria. I had one concern, however. In the apartment that I toured, the balcony is a good few inches above the floor in the apartment which would mean my mom would have to step up to get to the balcony. This would be dangerous for her.

I think they were understaffed, like just about every facility at this point. There was poor coordination within the facility. I didn't think management was good at all. My loved one was in hospice care, and I don't think Senita Ridge communicated well with hospice, especially for her end of life. The facilities at Senita Ridge were just okay. There was a vast difference between their med care unit and their memory care unit. Their med care assisted living facility I thought was amazing. Their memory care unit was not. In the beginning, everything seemed nice and went smoothly through the admissions process. But then after move-in, it was like she was forgotten.

My parents are currently at Regal Palms. They used to love it, but in the last several months things have gone down hill FAST. Of particular note the meal service has changed dramatically. They used to have a choice of 3 different entrees at night, now it is one, and more often than not, that one is inedible. A lot of the reviews I read mentioned how good the food and food options are - that is no longer the case. I've tried to call and write to their Corporate offices, but no will will talk to me or response. When Management doesn't care, care goes down.

I have eaten at the Commons on Maurice numerous times over the past few years. Breakfast is very good, lunch is adequate but the quality of the food at dinner has been deteriorating to the point that it is not worthy of the expensive monthly rent paid by residents. There are three entree choices each night for dinner with lots of chicken offered, some pork, fish, hot dogs, cheeseburgers. The overall quality is not good and frankly, offering hot dogs and cheeseburgers for dinner is not acceptable. Most, if not all food is frozen/prepared and not made from scratch. Obviously, there is not a chef onsite. The residents frequently voice their concerns about the food to the Management team. Their answer is always the same-- that there are three options offered on the dinner menu. Well, if none of the options are very good there is nothing to choose. Instead of addressing the quality concerns, they placate the residents and do nothing to improve the food. I don't blame the onsite Kitchen Manager, I am sure the corporation has made an unrealistic food budget for him/her to follow. I would hope the management will make an attempt to improve the quality of the food.

I would not recommend this place to others unless they were terminally ill. When I was touring the facility I saw a room that had two beds that were toe to toe with each other and they placed a curtain around them. To me this was just on a low level that I did not feel comfortable placing my loved one here. It seemed really scary looking and you had that feeling of being in a really old hospital. Not at all homey.

Since moving my loved one into Amethyst Arbors, nothing seems to be turning out as we expected. The place is too big and confusing for her, and I don’t feel that she gets enough help from the staff. She’s always anxious, stressed, angry, and depressed here. We are giving it a little more time to see if she warms up, but I feel unsure. I would not recommend this community to others.
