VERY nice facility

Smaller but cheaper. Looked clean. I liked the 2bedroom and 2 bath floor plan.

My sister is in the memory care. It has been fine so far. As far as I can tell it is clean, they have not updated the memory care yet. They have activities provided but they could use a little more. My sister is satisfied with the meals. They are taking good care of her and doing excellent with her.

This is a very nice facility for the money. Mom's room was recently remodeled with new carpet and beautiful plank flooring in the kitchen. The Alcove apartment is very roomy compared to some other facilities that we toured. And the bathroom is very large too. The lobby and dining areas are also very nice. Mom loves the food there, which is very important. There are lot's of Holiday decorations and a general happy feeling everywhere. The only recommendation I would make is to ask that the facility have a dedicated 'activities' coordinator - someone who plans and facilitates the parties, events, activities, etc. The staff there seems to be a little skimpy, except on the kitchen side, and I think they could definitely use someone who initiate an upbeat attitude with the residents. When Mom was new she didn't know who to go to with questions or concerns, except the front desk and oftentimes they didn't know or didn't have an answer. More activities would be helpful -- coordination with the Cultural Center activities more often. I haven't seen much of that or much participation. But generally speaking, a very nice facility with beautiful grounds!!!

Emerald Springs is a very nice place overall (especially for Yuma!). The management was very accommodating, and really worked with us well throughout the whole move-in process. The facility itself is well kept and clean, and it is in a gorgeous location. However, there has been one big drawback that we've run into. Although the location is an assisted living, and is "wheelchair friendly", it is actually very hard to navigate in a wheelchair. Even just going from her room to the dining room there are multiple changes from carpet to linoleum that stop her dead in her tracks if nobody is pushing her. It just does not seem well thought out, and we have not yet heard back from them in regards to adding plastic strips between these transition areas to alleviate the issue.

It's going pretty good so far. The caregivers themselves are awesome. At first we were in love with it, when we toured. The communication with us isn't as great as we would hope. There are a lot of laundry mix-ups. They are fairly clean, but I have seen things that hadn't been tended to after a few days, but the overall cleanliness is pretty good. The activities are very good. It's beautiful and the grounds are beautiful. Though I would like to see a little quicker response to maintenance issues, especially ones that might pose a danger.

The Amethyst has a lot of qualified people handling each person's case from the very beginning and throughout my mother's stay. There was a lot of paperwork and running around to collect the necessary documents and personal information, but it only contributed to a thorough and conclusive plan of care. Each question has been answered was followed up, although not always timely. When concerns were addressed with laundry turn-around and food temperature, the outcome was very satisfactory. All the staff address the residents with respect and care and ask quite often to help the resident. The Inn at the Amethyst has the feel of a family hotel with lovely ground areas, fountain, and a secure environment. The dining room is clean, the large living room is comfy, and the activities vary. Although mom was not brought in of her own accord, she is slowly acclimating herself after 6 weeks, has a friend, laughs occasionally, and is asking for more of her things to be brought in to her room. Just what I was hoping for!

This facility is nice and the staff is very friendly. The living quarters are pretty dated and could use a facelift. One concern is that the Medical Director is not as communicative as she should be with family members, it seems that she should try conferencing family members in if she has concerns about the need for additional services or referrals that should be made or make those suggestions to family members so they can evaluate the situation and facilitate decision making.

My Mom has been at Amethyst for 5 weeks. Overall, her experience has been positive. The staff is very accommodating and helpful in all ways. The residents are also very helpful and nice. My mother is particular about her food and the quality of the food and the execution of the dishes is not always on a par with her expectations.

Mom has complained a few times about the food being terrible. They have a problem in the kitchen and need help. That has been her biggest complaint. Overall it has been decent, but there are a couple of small areas for improvement, especially with the food.

It’s an absolutely beautiful facility. The activities are great! I’d have to give them a five. I’m a little concerned about their food service. They seem to be very short staffed for wait staff. Parking is limited.

The Commons was a nice place for my father it fit everything we were looking for. The families are well looked out for, the value of service is very good and the staff was very freindly and attentive. depending on the care type it was a little out of our price range but it is a place I would love for my father to be!

They did not have assisted living at River Commons. They had a nurse or a doctor on staff but that's not the same thing. If you needed a little bit of care then you would have to move. There is a pool which my mom would have liked but we ended up going with a place where if you are in need, you can go up to several different levels of care so that she could stay at the same place.

Care services - not able to judge as she is living independent. The one time she needed help was not a good situation. The meals are not good right now, short staff at times creates problems. Does not participate in activities and the value is overpriced. We had problems right from the start with her apartment not being ready. Management, while very nice people, doesn't seem to know how to manage especially conflict. The food situation has gotten worse. Some meals have not been edible. My mom keeps food in her apartment so she has something to eat when the menu is bad...yet she still pays for food she isn't able to eat. Staff is very friendly.

I was frustrated with lack of follow up calls, I'd leave a message and not get a call back. Also, she was left alone most of the time while the staff sat at the front desk. Her husband told them what she was able to eat, but the information took a few days to get to those who prepared the food. Rather than leaving her lying in bed, they might have gotten her up in the wheelchair and brought her out to watch others doing activities and spent time just being with her. And maybe other residents as well. The staff just didn't seem to know what to do other than clean and feed.

It wasn't the place for my mom & we had to move her. The food they have to learn to cater to food allergies they wouldn't even budge. One nurse was awesome the rest it was just a job and shouldn't be taking care of the elderly.

The advantage of this facility is it allows you to move between buildings as their care needs evolve. It is crucial to monitor what services you are paying for versus what is actually being provided. From an Independent Living perspective, the facility is commendable. The same cannot be said for the Assisted Living side. We were paying over $[removed] a month for services such as bathing, laundry, room cleaning, and clothing assistance, none of which were being performed. These homes often document tasks as completed when they are not. My mother's room was dirty and undusted; the same dust ball remained on the floor for over a month, indicating that the floor was not being swept. My mother smelled of urine and had not been bathed, despite the staff assuring us that she had. Her feet were filthy, and her toenails were excessively long, as they had not been cut for six months or more, despite my repeated requests. I've filed a complaint with the state as I am worried about other residents

All the staff have been nice. I don't think as much attention is given to memory care. It is harder. We have seen the price increase and they are not checking her overnight or changing her as per the contract. We have a camera in the room so we know things aren't getting done. Higher staff has been very nice and meeting with us to resolve these issues, but we're still not seeing results. The food looks good, but I haven't tasted it myself. My last bill was over $[removed] and would only be worth it if all services were done. We have hospice coming in now, so it would be hard to move her at this point.

My mom was at Emerald Springs Senior Living for Respite Care. She was supposed to be there for several weeks, but left after 5 days. Originally I would have rated the facility at a 4, but by the time she left I would rate it at a 2. Other than an insect infestation, the facility appeared to be clean overall. I think I would recommend this facility with reservations, as I feel that the insects were an isolated incident. They attempted to rectify the problem. The staff was very helpful.
