First I would like to say that the facility is always very clean and the patients are very well taken care of. The food is really good and they always have activities to keep the patients entertained! The weekday nurse is always caring and kind. She goes above and beyond for both the residents and their loved ones. The reason I am giving a less than perfect rating is the administrator. She seems very attentive at first and no follow thru. It seemed everything was put off for others to do. Once we moved my grandpa into the facility she was never around and didn't seem to care. The long term care insurance was not billed properly or sent in a timely manner. When he passed away she didn't even visit us or give condolences. My aunt didn't receive her refund for months and the administrator stopped responding to emails or phone calls. The overall experience was good but I believe her multiple oversights made it more difficult for our family overall dealing with the passing of my grandfather.

Clean Community, but Not The One For Us

I toured this community for my mother, and her needs. My tour went well overall, but I knew this wasn't the right fit for my mother. The community was clean, and looked nice. The staff was kind, and friendly. One thing I noticed is that there were a few women just sitting in wheelchairs, and staring off in space. Also there was a gentleman wandering the halls, and that was concerning to me. It is a nice community, but not the one for us.

Looking Forward To Improvements

The care is going well for my loved one. He is getting good meals based on his blood sugar level I believe he is eating very good. They have activities available but he is not participating. I noticed there were many staff walking through the place. I was not happy with the care when I found him wet and dirty and when I told them they took care of it right away. The laundry was not done either. There is room for improvement, and I hope it will be better when I visit again.

Care for dad

My father is happy at this community, but there are a few suggestions that we have given to this community. We have asked the community to give more attention to small injuries that might go unattentive by the staff. The staff is excellent during the day . We found that the staff is not as attentive on the weekends. We have a hard time getting issues address on weekends. Small improvements sometimes get over looked. He is happy, but they need to make improvements. Other families should tour this community to see if this is what they are looking for.

Not very appealing !!

I was not very impressed with this community during our tour. The building inside and out did not seem very appealing to me and did not have anything that stood out to me. There was too much construction going on during our visit as well.

My experience would not recommend

My experience helped me to realize that I NEVER want to go to a facility like this when my health declines to a point that I cannot take care of myself. Sorry, but it was a terrible experience for my wife, and no one there seemed capable of dealing with that.

Review for The Cottages

The food was okay but my loved one did not really like it. My loved one did not participate in the activites. They seem to be understaffed, and the management was uneven. They advertise trained staffed and it did not seem like that, after being there for awhile. Overall, it was not a good experience.

Not impressed

We took him out due to the quality of the care he was receiving. I was not impressed, the turnover rate was extremely high. The administrator that I dealt with was very nice but she always seemed exhausted and it seemed like she did not enjoy her job. It is a locked down facility due to it being memory care, and he got out. I found out the person who up kept the grounds was also cooking some of the meals, so they were understaffed. When we went to see him he would have on other peoples clothes. When we finally took him out of here, we did not get items that we sent him with and he had others clothes sent home with him. I feel like they did not follow through with what they had promised in the beginning and I would not recommend them.

Horrible Experience!!

My father was residing in the community and things did not go very good. They staff would lock the doors to the rooms of the residents the whole day until the night. One of the residents once asked if i could open the door for her because she was hungry and wanted to grab a snack out of her room. I paid a lot of money for services that he never got. I would not recommend the community to families it was a bad experience for my loved one and other residents living there.

Do not place your loved ones here. Understaffed, constant turnover. Residents fall and go to ER all the time. [Removed ] by sharing resident's information with employee's family members. Diet is super high in sodium. The place is pretty but terrible in terms of care. Moved my loved one after 2 months.

Pretty facility on the outside but not much more to offer. The floors inside are constantly dirty. Constant turn over always short staffed. They promise you the world and then don’t follow through. The nurses never return you’re call. Nor does anybody answer the phone after hours or on the weekend. The place is so unorganized nobody knows what they are doing. Theirs too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Do not move you’re loved one here.

Save yourself the heartache

Save yourself and your loved the pain. Neglect is the one word I would use to describe the level of care that this facility provides. I would go so far as to say that their neglect of the residents leads to more death here than what could ever be proved. Residents stay slumped in their seats for hours upon hours, the ones that can't use the toilet on their own don't get changed regularly. If the resident needs hospice care, the cottages seem to think that their duties cease altogether. Communication between management, nursing, and staff is ridiculous. If you want something attended to, don't leave a message with management, you are better off seeing to it yourself. After hours are the worst, you are hard pressed to find more than two employees on duty; and when you do find them, they are sitting playing on their phones. But what would you really expect from employees that get paid 9.00 an hour? Turnover of employees here is extremely high for that reason. While management takes in on avg. $5,000 - $6,000 per resident a month.. The facility may appear inviting and nice, but if your loved one isn't 100% able to care for themselves, i.e: bathe themselves, feed themselves, walk, use the restroom, etc.. You're asking for trouble. Oh, and if a loved one passes while residing here, don't expect to receive condolences, a card, flowers, or any other regard. Your loved one was merely a source of income.

Terrible place for your love one

Terrible place for someone you love or care about, the whole staff in my opinion is inadequate, after the first month of living their my dad's clothes seemed to always be dirty and his bedding was soiled and after bring this to their attention it still took several weeks to have his bedding cleaned, hell I had to go above everyone's head and get the Director of Operations involved to get it completed. If you have a parent or relative that has Alzheimer's you know that on occasions they will have episode that will required them to go out for evaluation, One day my dad was having one of these episodes, THIS PLACE loaded my dad up in an ambulance and had him shipped to the wrong place for evaluation and they turned right around and shipped him back to the cottages, they even question the Cottages ability to care for patients, you talked about putting an Alzheimer patient in a tail spin. This was when I knew the nursing staff was inadequate and after 6 months had my dad removed and relocated to another facility.
