Crazy place, would be better for someone active

This was weak, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week it was just weak. I know they get a high rating but once you move in they kind of forget about you, it's crazy, you can't find your key, you can't find a diaper, it's just crazy. We're all going to get there eventually but what's important is that they take care of you. I'm not trying to bash the Fountains, they're fine if your active but my father in law wasn't. Their facility is nice and it's clean, I mean it's clean, clean. I could walk around there with a glove and not pick anything up. They had given my father in law the code to leave out the door and I was like "what the hell?!" and then he gave that number, which he barely remembered, to another man who went out and got drunk. It was crazy, it was like high school days when you went out, got drunk and came home. I guess when you get older you start to miss those days, and when you're 80 you really miss it.

It's going downhill, the only saving grace is the activities director

It's alright, I mean, I like it here a lot, there are some issues, meals, the chef is totally out of it. We were having good meals and then I think it went straight to his head and the managers now are so bad, these are all new issues but at the present I couldn't recommend it to anybody. The management has no idea how to handle it, I love my unit and the maintenence man who takes care of it is just fine but there's rumors that he may be moving too. The activities are great, should the activity leader leave we'd be lost, there'd be nothing here. There's a difference between what corporate expects of sales and what actually happens, she gets you to sign the line and then hands it over. If you were to speak to other residents they would say the same thing, as soon as they get it together they lose it again.

big turnover in managers

since my friend moved in on July 6 there's been a worrisome turnover in managers. . My experience with them so far is that they've been either rude or unhelpful. No toilet paper in the room on two visits so I brought my own. No one has been in weekly to clean as promised. Huge water puddle outside the door that must be a leak because it never dries up so the carpet is ruined. On the positive side is that the food is good and served on time. My friend reports that there's lots of activities. Pleasant atmosphere and the residents seem happy.

I have been disapointed with Deep Woo...

I have been disapointed with Deep Woods failure to provide a wheelchair accessable bus for my loved one there so they can participate in bus accitivies(shopping,Christmas light tour,etc.).I was also shocked to learn that no one on staff has had even basic CPR training and choking assistance training. Food is acceptable but a dietician on staff or available to review special diets for residents would be helpful.

Both Managers were very welcoming and accomodating to take Mom and I on the tour. Very nice and clean location. The staff seemed friendly and most residents acknowledged Mom and I during the tour. We got to stay for lunch which was nice. The rooms we saw were nice. Since this facility includes all three meals, it may be outside Mom's budget.

This is the right size for us. High rise building. Also good location, great services. But the building was built in the 70s, the apartments are poorly laid out with dreadful kitchens. However, it's on our list of acceptable places so far.

Apts are very small. Staff very friendly. Only exercise area was a small room w chairs where they do "sittercise". Two activity rooms wjere they do games & have speakers. They have a person who will help us apply for va benefits & tell us how to secure her assets before move-in. 1br/1ba = $2395 - all inclusive. There is also a 1br unit for $2700 that has a larger living room area. No kitchens, small fridge & microwave. Little cabinet space, small closets.

Great local staff

The local staff at this facility are great. Holiday retirement corporate and softbank, beware. This facility does a great job of giving options of activites for people to do. I think there is so much opportunity for better. I would not recommend this facility, my advice to any family would be to keep looking. They are doing the best they can, but it is a big corporate business.
