Extremely unorganized – no one can answer important questions. Staff will state they will get information regarding the care of a resident, but they do not call back/provide answers. This facility also misrepresented the VA aid and assist funding, making it sound like it was a “given,” and would reduce the monthly bill by half. However, those funds are NOT guaranteed and are difficult to secure. Sadly, we found that out too late. There seems to be an overall lack of staff being able to answer questions and depending who you speak to you will get different (if any) information. My father has had to wait in line for a half hour to deceive medication and has waited for his meals. The longest wait was one hour. I would not recommend this facility. There are many out there that are much better organized, less expensive, and offers better care to its residents.

I stayed here for a few nights to see whether I'd like it. For many reasons, I would not move into this place. The food--mediocre and not tailored toward those with diabetes or heart disease. The service--often rude or abrupt or nonexistent. The activities--inane, with staff talking in a sing-song tone of voice to the residents as though they're children. Cleanliness--I viewed health violations in the little café (which is hardly ever open). I also got sick from eating a sandwich there. The hallways: they have a strange odor (mold?). The rooms: cooled and heated by cheap motel-style units that cannot be sufficiently regulated (as another poster noted). DO NOT LISTEN TO MANAGEMENT'S RHETORIC about "sailing pelicans and dancing dolphins." That's hogwash. Also, since the building is on the water, all residents must be evacuated from the building even if the smallest storm is coming that way (not to mention that rust on the exterior of the building is a constant issue). As another poster noted, management is SELLING A PRODUCT, and they'll say anything to get you to live here. Try it out free for a few days and decide for yourself.

The care at this community was not what we were looking for. We were misled about the care that was offered here. We did not tell me that it was not independent living. They were understaffed and the community was not clean. They only had one elevator. The menu was average. They did have activities that they were involved in. I would not recommend this community for other families.

Facilities were amazing. Had an appointment with [Removed] at 1pm. She was 10 minutes late and offered no apology. She gave us a quick tour, sat us at a table, showed us literature and almost pushed us out. My sister in law also felt the same way. No negotiating on prices was made abundantly clear. Leaving, I felt they were just interested in our money. Was very disappointed.

I went in for a tour when searching for an apartment for my father. We were left standing in the entry (we had an appointment) for 15 minutes or so. A woman then arrived to speak to us but was totally disorganized and seemingly uninformed about the facilities. One iof the tenants sat in a television area alone with no one even speaking to her as we waited and wondered into the hall way. We did not complete the tour and left.

Our experience with The Fountains at Boca Ciega has been a very poor one. My loved one is on the memory care floor, and from what I have seen there is basically no actual "care" given to the residents. My loved one, and the other residents on the floor from what I can tell, are all heavily sedated and basically left sitting in chairs. We are moving our loved one out as soon as we are able.

My father lived in the community for about 6 -7 yrs and really enjoyed the activities and the friendships he made. It is a very beautiful community and the food is very good. Beware though - you will not get the large entrance fee back if you or your loved one needs to move somewhere else for medical reasons. The contract states it will not be refunded until the apartment is occupied. This can take years - so far my father's apartment is empty 11 months after he left. My father's health declined suddenly last year and I had to move him closer to family. Most of his money was tied up in this community and it could be years until he get this chunk of money back - this is a huge problem for us! Six years ago the apartments were filling much faster than they are now and we did not foresee this issue. The other concern is that many people assume they can use the skilled nursing located on the property if needed, but the facility turned my father down when he was being release from the hospital and needed skilled nursing.

It was terrible! It smelled like, I don't even know what the combination was, but it was bad. An alarm went off and the maintenance guy came over and flipped the button and didn't even check on it. We went into the church services and the people looked like they were strapped into their chairs slumped over, and didn't look happy and vibrant at all.

Fraudulent operation - following the death of our family member, the facility has failed to refund months of prepaid rent for the months subsequent to our family member's death (despite clear language in the lease agreement obligating them to do so). They have lied, stalled, and obfuscated for weeks on end. Regrettably, we have finally arrived at the point at which we have no other option but to pursue legal recourse (and we shall do so with vigor and a purposeful resolve to ensure that others are spared the misfortune of dealing with this fraudulent organization). Save yourself the trouble (and legal fees) and keep driving past this one...

Our tour at River's Edge was awful. The smell hit you as soon as you walked in the door, just a vile, moldy, urine smell. The staff was not cordial at all. They were late and didn't have their paperwork together. They took me to see a nasty, roach-infested room that was already occupied by a resident. It was just awful.

I had a terrible experience here, and would not recommend to anybody. The value for cost is extremely high for the services provided, and the meals are terrible. I stayed for a year to see how it would work out and during that time was the COVID pandemic and they never kept us in the loop with what was going on. The lady in charge talks bad about the residents, she plays favorites and involves herself in drama. There is a big gossip pool. It is more like a nursing home environment and not independent living.

I moved my mom into the blake over a year ago, and as other's have stated, at first the staff and management were wonderful. Then the corporate office came in and fired the director. After that many individuals left, the level of care my mom gets is good, but current management has no process for anything. If something is missing, or you want to report something, there is no process currently in place. You tell the receptionist, and she says that she will let someone know. I had purchased a phone for my mom, and it was working, then after several months it stopped working. I asked to have it fixed, and after a month or two, her phone disappeared. It's been about 6 months now, still no phone and no explanation. Now with this virus, I can't call her, when I try to set up a time to see her, I get no response. The management people that Corporate hired to backfill the people that were either fired, or left, don't even try to help, they ignore the residents family and don't care. Sad!

On [date removed] I signed papers to rent an apartment for my mother at Washington Commons with the move in date to be [date removed]. On [date removed] I found my mother on the floor of her house where she had fallen and hit her head on the corner of her dresser. I called 911 and she was taken to University Hospital. She stayed at the hospital 5 days and on [date removed] was transferred to Walton Rehab. At this time I was still planning to move my mother to Washington Commons. I got the keys and moved a bed frame with rails into the unit. The doctors at Walton Rehab say my mothers condition is serious. My mother needs 24 hour care. Washington Commons was no longer an acceptable place for her to go. On [date removed] the case manager at Walton Rehab called Washington Commons and explained the situation--stating she would send whatever paperwork was needed to break the lease especially since my mother never moved in. Washington Commons stated there was nothing they could do and to make sure I paid the other two months rent that is due. No associate at Washington Commons has ever met my mother--she was not issued an emergency call pendant, the toilet bowl tank lid was never repaired, no meals ever eaten, and the move in checklist not completed. This company does not even want to work with you after they get your money. They say good friends make good neighbors, I say where are the good friends?? because Washington Commons is not one of them.

Unsafe place to live. Food is not edible, lukewarm, most of time is not what listed on menu. Facility has no management nor direction and need managers. Residents money, jewelry and clothing is frequently stolen from apartments. Management plans to replace all locks with same type currently in use. Current locks are easily tripped via a credit card. Clothes dryers on 2 of 3 floors are malfunctioning. Takes 2-3 hours to dry light weight clothing. Per management, “the issue is very expensive and is in the walls.” The dryers need to be replaced. ART to meals no consideration used in presentation. Example white fish with no paprika or other color, mashed potatoes, and cauliflower. Majority of foods are lukewarm or cold OR you be served a grilled cheese sandwich with solid cheese on white bread that has not browned. Dietary servers as well as management who often fill in have long hair no hair net. The chef only wear a chef hat when he has waffle station.

Management rented me an apartment knowing that it had no hot running water. I didn't find this out until I had moved in. I patiently waited but after two months, I still had now hot water. I moved out and requested a refund of my money. To date, six months later, I have heard lie after lie and I still do not have my refund. I contacted the region manager as well as the CEO and have found no-one that cares about what happened to me at Nouveau Marc in Kenner, La. I observed several other negative issues while I was a resident there. Please contact me before you or one of your loved ones consider residing there. I will be contacting the BBB an taking what ever other actions that I can take.

Since the move to the community the general manager has been very rude to me. The staff are not attentive and do not communicate well with me or my loved one. The meals are not good they don't have any taste to them. The person that had me sign my contract with Whealdon Estates was very dishonest and now things have changed drastically putting me in a bad financial situation.
