Value was terrible. I had a one room bedroom and front room combined at the bottom of the scale, there was a good view of the bay, but there wasn't $2000/month value of being there. I got most of my care through the VA. There are no care services available at the fountains, and you only get two meals a day. There were a lot of activities available, but I'm in my 70's and you have persons there in their 80's and 90's so there wasn't a lot of interaction.

As a former resident (moved [Removed]), I do not recommend Regency House, a Holiday Retirement community. While the residents at Regency House are talented and compassionate retirees and 95% of the hourly staff genuinely care about and serve the residents despite not being supported by their employer (Most are part-time with a close to minimum wage incomes, no benefits and no paid time-off.), I found Regency House to be of very poor value and not customer oriented. The corporate parent, Holiday Retirement, seemed to be far more interested in making substantial profits than caring for its residents and employees. I was promised many things prior to moving in. I received very few of them. Some differences between what I was promised and what I received from 12/15 to 7/17 was as follows: 1) I was promised two couples who would live on site and respond 24 / 7 to any pull-cord emergency. This policy changed, and I was given a "help me, I can't get up" pendant to cover my safety from 7:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M. 2) I was promised meals prepared by two "four star" chefs. What I received was school cafeteria plus quality grade food where food options were strictly limited by a tight budget. I can count on one hand the number of times I ate white meat chicken during my entire stay. Frequently, food choices were not available. 3) At around $3,000 / month, I assumed I would get a well-maintained, secure, comfortable and safe apartment. What I received was a poorly maintained building that negatively impacted my health. Regency House did not have a maintenance person for at least eight weeks in the Winter and Spring of 2017. HVAC systems were not maintained, and air filters were not cleaned monthly per manufacturers specifications. (See examples of mold testing that showed extensive mold growth on the AC filter and in the apartment.) There were holes in residents’ closet and bathroom ceilings that remained un-repaired for at least a year. A gutter fell from the third floor and remained on resident's patios for over three weeks. 4) I was promised free transportation to doctor appointments and errands. What I received about 40% of the time were announcements at meals that the bus would not be operational that day due to driver illness or vehicle breakdowns. And despite these (and other) cuts in service and broken promises, my rent was raised $150 / month after one year. If you are looking for senior independent living, look elsewhere. At Regency House, I found myself very frustrated at paying way too much for far too little.

My parent has lived at Washington Commons for almost a year and one of the reasons we chose this facility was the management - [Removed] in particular. Since they left, we have seen the staff change multiple times, the food is less than desirable and the morale of the residents has declined tremendously. The activities are not exactly as described, even non-existent, and they don't really seem to care about what the residents have to say. We are now looking at a different facility and apparently so are lots more - I hear there are over 20 empty apartments. The only good things I have seen, and I'm there often, are the wonderful ladies who serve meals and clean the apartments for these deserving older residents. You definitely don't get what you pay for here. Do not recommend unless changes are made.

Before you get carried away by the lobby, check out the apartments themselves. Note that they do not have central air/heat. Instead, they are cooled and heated by cheap motel-type wall units whereby the temperature is adjusted not by a thermostat but by buttons merely indicating cooler or warmer. The building itself has central air/heat, but not the individual apartments, making it impossible to set the temperature at a comfortable level without jumping up all the time to readjust the buttons (even in the middle of the night). That fact alone removed The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay from my list.

When we first found smokey springs I thought it was the best place on earth for my mother. After the lease was signed and they had our money things changed. Lots and lots of promises but few were kept. Several attempts to communicate but we were ignored. We are stuck to a 90 day commitment with a $4500 community fee to pay on top of the rent. I can't recommend this place for your loved ones. My mother moved in today and wasn't greeted or informed about meal times or anything. When I called they were overjoyed to hear that she moved in and promised to greet her and notify her of the meal menu and times. It is now almost 9pm and she hasn't seen anyone yet. I am less than impressed at this time. I remain hopeful that things will change. If they do I will re-write a review.

I have lived at Whealdon Estates for five months. I love the managers, but the food is awful! If the food was better, I'd have no gripes about Whealdon Estates at all. Had I known what the food was like before moving here, I'd have chosen some other place. So much food is wasted because it is unpalatable. They have nothing for the diabetic (which I am). I furnish 95% of my food and yet I still have to pay what everyone else pays Whealdon Estates.

I’m getting indigestion after every meal. I’m having to take Tum’s and Pepto-Bismol and the staff is not as friendly as I expected it to be. I’m having to pay additional food going out and buying food that my stomach can take.

We were lied to by The Barclay representatives selling care for memory care patients. We were in a bind to quickly find memory care for our father who was living in AFL and had wandered off at night in the cold in only his pjs. They told us we would find great care there and that he would be "cared for like they care for their own parents". He received very little care and was put in quarantine on the incorrect belief that he had c-diff as soon as I gave them our notice we were leaving which was 5 days after we moved in. I had the director of nursing telling me how horrible the working conditions had been for her in only 5 months she had been there to the point she was leaving to go back to her old job. Too bad she had not told us this in the pressure sales meeting we had with her in it. The staff was suppose to be constantly walking the floor of the unit because "you will find we do not have a nursing station here", but I always found them sitting on couches in the activity room.

1. This rating is based on their actions after my father passed away. They allowed ppl into his room to steal from him. Then they had the nerve to say owed a balance bc he didn't give a 30 day notice. 2. The common areas were clean but they lacked in keeping my dad's room clean. We were prepared to come every week to clean but they offered. They were hit or miss some days. 3. For the most part the ppl who worked there were nice. The residents were very polite and friendly. 4. The food was hit or miss. There were moments when my dad had to order food for delivery to his room and they forgot about him. 5. It was hit or miss. 6. He used to say the quality went down. It wasn't as good as it was when first moved in. 7. They were creative in keeping the seniors busy and active. 8. It was cost met the quality of the facility if that makes sense. However, I would not recommend this place to anyone based solely on the fact that they stole from a deceased person. Very unacceptable

The facility is gorgeous but this place is grossly mismanaged. There isn’t a single person on staff that cares about getting a timely response to you. I have been waiting for almost a year for a rent refund following my mother’s death. Mediocrity would be giving the team the benefit of the doubt.

The woman who toured us around the community was very negative. She told us it would not be a good fit for my dad and that we should look elsewhere because he is not in a wheelchair or needing a lot of help yet. I appreciate the honesty but it was not a positive experience. Apparently the residents here are more like nursing home patients. The rooms are very small so this makes sense.

They need more staff! They should have come through with what they said when they were selling me on this. Need more days to take you to the doctor. The laundry rooms have crummy washers and dryers and we only can use at certain times. Need to empty garbage more. Laundry room smells horrible.

What got us was that it offered everything they wanted in one shiny new place. Unfortunately, the place is falling apart. But, still, it looked nice on the tour. Food and staffing, I suppose, were the two biggest issues. But there were lots of major issues, including billing errors and care lapses. It's was a costly error in more ways than simply money.

A relative is a resident in the memory care unit. The staff is rude for the most part, there are some pleasant staff. But, they question what you have brought and tell you NO Candy, NO more books, NO cokes. For God's sake, this person deserves the right to die by chocolate if she wants, she eats her regular meals so WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? The staff will not help if this person can't get the t.v. on, they don't provide toilet paper! If this relative (or any others there) can't remember things, how are they going to know to ask their guardian or family member to bring t.p.? For the amount of money she is paying to be there, you would think the staff would cater to her, but alas, it doesn't happen. They even took her phone away when they thought we were calling too much! I proved that it was her calling me, not the other way around and had to get lawyers involved to get the phone back. I don't have guardianship over my relative and it breaks my heart to see her there.

My mother has been living there for nearly 2.5 years now. When it opened, the place was (and still is) beautiful. But to be honest, the way the corporate office manages the community is absolutely detrimental to the residents. Office politics seem to be at play in personnel changes and the quality of care and the food especially is horrible. After the first ED left, who was wonderful, responsive, caring, and committed to the quality of the community they have now placed [name removed] in that role. She has zero experience, does not return phone calls, makes poor hiring decisions, and knows nothing about resident care. The Director of Sales is her best friend. And the Resident Care Director is not a nurse. In fact she is not even a CNA. They have let the staff that are trouble makers run them ragged. The food has been terrible for some time. They promoted a director of Culinary Services that doesn't bathe and cannot cook anything other than cafeteria food. All for show.

My mother in law had an appointment last [date removed] to tour the facility with her husband and my husband along with myself. Something came up and she could not make it so she asked that my husband and I go in her place. My husband contacted [name removed] first thing Monday morning, [date removed] to let her know, which he did not speak to her but left a voicemail. [name removed] never contacted him back. On [date removed] my husband and I showed up to New Haven 10 minutes early for the appointment that was scheduled at 11 am. [name removed] was unavailable but would be there, which was fine because we were early. We continued to wait till 11:25, we decided that with the lack of concern for a potential tenant that was a good sign to leave. We have found that River Park has the concern and care needed for her and her husband.

This facility needs to be closed, renovated and cleaned. Most of the residents are rude and uncaring much like the staff. It seems to be operated much like a hospital. It’s a you get what we give you attitude! I’m so sorry that my loved one had been placed in this facility. Hopefully, this review will keep you from putting your loved one there.
