Pleasant visit, but rooms we saw were small and we did not feel it was what we needed. For example, the bathrooms were not barrier free. Dining facility is small and serves for only one hour a day.

Doing a good job so far

They're doing a good job here so far. The community is well kept and clean, and in general the staff seem friendly. They've got a good amount of activities to keep everyone active and entertained. One nice thing about this community is that is it located very conveniently to shopping and entertainment.

The community was our second choice our first choice was out of our budget. This community is a good community it just lacks cleanliness. The carpet needs to be cleaned and there was an odor of urine when we have visited. They do not seem to push cleanliness on the residents our loved one has gone a week without taking a shower at times. They qouted a minimum price and a maximum price but when the paperwork came the price was higher then the maximum.

No longer an option, Private pay only. Marketing rep, very knowledgeable, friendly, good listener, residents and workers gravitate to her. Thorough note taker. Staff very friendly.+location, memory care, school, library, tubs, pet therapy, pretty property. I did not have an opportunity to observe much staff/resident interaction. -slight odor on memory care floor and lobby, upon entrance,Observations, memory care room seemed crowded, not necessarily a negative. Many Memory care residents were in common area, made me a little sad. Can't envision Mama in that room. Lots of staff and residents moving about on main floor and memory floor. Not certain mama belongs in memory care, in this facility yet?? Woman in lobby, father stays there. She hesitated, noticeably before answering yes, when I asked if she AND her father liked facility Cost is more than anticipated

Ask about the caregiver training before you commit

A lot of promises were made before we signed all the papers, only to find out afterwards that they were “in the process “ of setting up activities. The caregivers do not appear to be trained in dealing with dementia patients as they keep calling family members to try to resolve issues over the phone. We find ourselves directing them how to deal with the situation. Again, we were “sold” on the special care that would be required. Even the doctor is frustrated because the behavior is not out of the ordinary for a dementia patient.

Ask lots of questions before you choose

They went above and beyond to “sell” the facility but once committed we found out that the Memory Care Director and staff were new and just starting to get activities and programs in place. Also, finding that not all staff possess the same level of compassion for their new residents who are having a hard time acclimating to the new environment.

could use : more structured activities on a REGULAR basis; daily exercise; room with equipment music and supervision; continual cleaning and maintenance: wipe down doors repaint doors and elevator doors, fix roof leaks, overhaul heating/air units, wash windows changeround door handles to lever model; change lighting to LED- too dank presently' change carpeting in apt hallways; Food is very good. This is an older facility. It requires a little more care to keep the standards at an acceptable level.

Don’t do it

They were very friendly when moving in . Once the lease was signed, never could get anyone to answer the phones. My loved one was in assisted living. Had to go to hospital. When she was returned there was no one there to let her in. She had to go back to the hospital. Until the next morning. I live out of town, and couldn’t bring her back. Once we weren’t happy had to jump through hoops to get out of the lease. Have to get something from doctors stating she can not be alone, which she was in assisted living which made no sense. Hopefully the new management team will do better

Tour of Oakhaven Manor

Oakhaven Manor is very independent. It is a high rise, about 6 stories tall and I was not the biggest fan of that set up. It was just not the right fit.

It's a great idea, but a great idea only. They have to follow through.

The apartments are not clean. The appearance of the place is rundown. The carpeting has spots all over it. I have four items for them to come and check, things like nails popping up, porches needing to be power washed - they're dirty with spiders all over them. When I moved in, there was feces on the bathroom wall and on the toilet clips. There's "bruising" all over the walls where the paint is being rubbed off. They don't have anyone to clean, and the apartments are not clean and not move-in ready. Initially people were nice, but there was a manager that was horrible. I don't know if they have to have geriatric trainings or whatnot, but that would be very helpful for management. But, that person is no longer here. I haven't heard much about the new manager, but she's very nice and personable and easy to talk with. We'll see how things go. They're having quite a bit of turnover and seem short-staffed. The maintenance staff is good, but it seems like there's no manager that's responsible for overall upkeep. I feel like the building is falling down around us. The food is many bad meals in a row. The activities are for children, not adults. The need to make sure they're doing things for adults. There aren't that many activities in general. They do have parties once a month, and those are nice to get together and see everybody. I think the money you pay is way more than what you get. The kitchens have a stove that you can't even time anything on or do anything with. It's missing a lot of important things that you should have on a stove. There's no microwave. It's not modern at all . This place is so small I can see the whole thing in once glance. I just feel it's overpriced. They should add a pool. That would go a long way in adding value.

I wouldn't even move my enemy there. I would not suggest it to anyone.

I strongly recommended not to go there. It has changed ownership several times and has really gone downhill. With the change, they seem to have had a big turnover in staff. It's no longer as clean as it used to be, and repairs are no longer done quickly. It's hard to even find someone to help you with anything. They don't follow the care plan outlined in my loved one's contract. For a while, they had a visiting protocol where you had to schedule an appointment and have a negative Covid test. But they never verified the Covid test results, so what's the point in having the protocol if you're not going to follow through with it? They let in a visitor who had Covid, and had they checked and followed their own protocol, that person would not have been allowed in.

I like the layout of the Park at Franklin. My uncle does not like the food. They don't have very many menu choices. He says they offer a lot of hot dogs and hamburgers as options. They have outdoor space and a walking path.
