Mother moved in and loves the apartment everyone is very friendly. Staff and other residents

We are so happy to living in Porthaven now. We spent a lot of time visiting the different homes in our area, and finally picked the one we liked the best. When we first inquired and told them we wanted a ground floor room because it was better for our two little dogs to poop on the grass instead of the rug. We were told it usually is a one or two year wait... but we said thats ok , we will wait and made a holding deposit.... well "6" days later we got a call saying a ground floor became available...... We took it right away, and that day put up our home up for sale. So our house sold within a few weeks and we moved in as soon as we coud. We love it there, the people, the staff, the location in the center of Port Huron was an answer to our prayers..... Thank you Lord for looking after two old folk. Amen

We have lived here for 2 months and already feel at home. It was quite a change moving from a 2000 sq. ft. house to a one bedroom apartment, but the adjustment was easy. The people here are very friendly and helpful to new folk who are asking questions. It is nice to have an outside door and be on the ground floor so we can let our two small dogs out. Staff is friendly and courteous and there are lots of things going on, if you want to join in.

It has been a great place for my mother.

We toured the Elmhaven Manor during their off hours so I don't really have a fair assessment, but one of the residents actually took us around. They were so welcoming and accommodating it was such a positive environment.

Everything there is great except for the food. The dinners are not eatable 50% of the time. My mother has her meals delivered to her apartment. They come anywhere from 5-6:45. The portions are smaller than the ones that they serve in hospitals. The meals are basically the same every month. The food flavor is basically for someone one a bland diet. For almost $9.00 you would think it would be better.

The care has been going well for me. The staff are nice and helpful and they keep the community very clean. I do not eat here but I have a stove, sink and counter space to make my meals. I also do my own cleaning, it is not included with the rent. I have recommend this place if they have the availability. Susan from A Place For Mom was very helpful, she was a jewel.

We were very impressed with the facility and staff - the activities and other offerings seem to fill every need and concern we had for our mom.

This was the only place I found where my friend qualified for a Rent-Restricted program. His apartment is very nice, freshly painted and carpets cleaned. Any small problems are dealt with promptly and in a friendly manner. Activities, doctors, and personal care services are available at extra cost. Meals are very good. Overall, we are very pleased with Elmhaven Manor.

The staff were very accommodating. The apartments were like new. The activities were well done. The only minor negative was the food. Although their menus were varied and complete. The food itself was "food service" supplied. Overall I would recommend it. It's very conveniently located to downtown Ferndale.

The staff is amazing. Always helpful and friendly. They have a lot of great activities and outings but my mom doesn't take advantage of those yet. She also prefers to cook for herself but I do see a lot of people who enjoy the dining area. Mom loves the new apartment size and location She really enjoys her private patio. They do have a mouse problem. And cigarette smoke from the guy across the hall is unpleasant. However, the staff does a great job helping with everything to the best of their ability. So love that.

It's well maintained and clean. Yes we would recommend Grandhaven Manor to other families based on the experience so far.

After looking at several retirement communities for my mom we chose GrandHaven Manor II. This community is located close to shopping and activities. The staff are friendly. There are community activities available to the residents in the building allowing socialization. The on site optional caterers for dinner provide healthy and good tasting food. My mom has made friends and enjoys the activities. Grandhaven Manor II also offers apartments from r seniors who have low income.

I arrived shortly before Thanksgiving and Christmas and every space reflected a holiday . It was obvious that the staff cares about the atmosphere presented and the different emotions it stirs up in the residents. The home is not a dumping ground for old people but a vibrant joyful place that provides a opportunity to live an independent life. Staff is friendly from the management group who instantly recognizes new arrivals and remembering names and apartment numbers. Maintaince, housekeeping and all staff members are helpful without being "syrupy sweet " or condescending. I'm happy here.

Mom likes her apartment. The price is reasonable for what you get. I would recommend it.

What we like the most about this community is the friendliness of the staff as well as the activities. Based on the experience we have had with Westhaven Manor we would recommend this community to other families who may need a place for their loved ones

Everyone there has been great. They did recently switch management companies To me, it looks like they have some great choices on the food menu, but my mom complaints. I would recommend The James Ferndale to others looking for independent living.

We live in different states, so extremely limited contact. I liked that holiday meals were available for purchase. My Mom didn't leave her room. Any negative experience was her fault.

This is a nice place but to expensive.

The staff at Swanhaven Manor are all very friendly. Areas for improvement- Food- generic, limited variety, small portions. I understand inflation, but still... Activities- limited space availability so often go on a waiting list. Seems like the activity is filled up before the lists are even posted. No good exercise program available, although was part of the sales pitch. The rent increase for 2023 was very reasonable.
