Best place for my mom!

Everyone on the staff are friendly and helpful. They help identify my mothers needs and our concerns then made sure they were taken care of. My mother had to move from her home to another state where EVERTHING was different. The put my mother at a dinner table with other people who had travelled a lot and my mother fit right in. The chef made special meals of things she was used to eating. The staff found out what activities my mom liked and they come and get her to attend. Before my mother got here she was not eating or socializing. Now she is in the dining room with friends at least two meals a day, is attending events, and even going out to lunch every Friday. Her mental, emotional and physical health have greatly improved since joining the community. We looked at several places in Texas and Louisiana. I do not think we could have found a better place!

New, pretty, good staff

New, pretty decor, cheerful soft colors. The staff is very warm, kind, thoughtful. Food is very plain, but my parents seem to like it. It's only about one third full so far, so it feels very quiet in the hallways. The activities director seems to really be taking the residents' preferences into account. Very clean - good staff.

I have been very pleased with The Vil...

I have been very pleased with The Village of Meyerland from the initial visit to the time of move in. The staff is very concerned and knows the residents names and background. They are very personable, and the facility has a homey feel to it. The Village is new, and very clean. The food there is fairly good. On a scale from 1 to 4, I give it a 4.5. And I would recommend The Village of Meyerland to others.

I am impressed

I am really impressed with the new management at Magnolia Heights. They have been very helpful and responsive in addressing any issues that arise. Just the other day I heard a new family moving their parents in say that they really liked the food, so it is not just my opinion that the food is really great in comparison to other care homes. It is a beautiful building and rates very high in my opinion to those that are located in the Spring area.

Beautiful place, and excellent food!

We were only able to use this community for a short time before a medical emergency necessitated a move, but we were very impressed with this place! It's a brand new community, and the facility itself is beautiful! The staff are very attentive and friendly, and they keep the place looking very clean. And the food was absolutely wonderful, it was always delicious and included fresh fruits and vegetables.

Happy with our choice

We are on our 3rd director and have had significant turnover in housecleaning staff, kitchen staff, and marketing. The new director has been very active and open to the residents. I sense there is difficulty in getting help from corporate headquarters. There are some maintenance issues but we have a relatively new maintenance director who is working hard to support the residents. Overall- We like it here - the residents are great : friendly, helpful to one another and caring.

Review for Spring Creek Village

The community was mostly nice, but there was always a shortage of staff that actually wanted to help the residents. The therapy department was not very good. There was no doubt that the facility's main interest was financial; however, the maintenance was mostly good, the management mostly responsive, the food was okay, and many of the staff were really nice and kind. Overall I would recommend spring creek village. There are also many nearby shopping and eating resources.

Review for Wood Glen Court

I chose Wood Glen Court after extensive online research. I read individual reviews and comments on more than 20 locations. I also had my bad experience at Solera Skilled Nursing Facility to compare other places to. I found the service A Place for Mom, to be a hinderence to getting to talk to admissions staff at Wood Glen and other places. I realize helps the facility screen the applicants, but was not helpful for me. Staff Communications was very good.

Our Experience

Staff is very friendly and knows everyone's name. Housekeeping is okay-once my mom figured out their schedule she was fine. Sometimes they don't bring her laundry back on schedule, but once she asks they take care of it quickly. Communication about programming and events is very good. They use the LifeLoop website/app. Communication on the nursing/care side could be better. If I have a question or concern I don't always get a response the same day. But then they take care of it quickly. The move in process did not go as smoothly as expected. But after a few hiccups, things are good. I can text the director and she will take care of it. According to my mom, the meals are not great and they run out of certain things sometimes. But she is not a reliable historian and is a picky eater. Besides all this, my mom is much happier than I thought she would be. The activities director hooked her up with a few ladies within her first week there and now the 4 of them are inseparable.

Positives and negatives, but overall pleased.

There seems to be a high turnover of staff. I don't think she ever saw the physician who serves at the facility. Not even at the beginning. She was not allowed to take her supplements because it wasn't on the Rx list, but no one helped get them on the list. She never had a working microwave the whole time, even though we asked several times. I came to visit and her bathroom sink was clogged. The staff was always very friendly, remembered her name and remembered some of her preferences like apple juice at her meals. Also, the layouts of the rooms are really good. My mom didn't really take advantage of activities and I wish they had encouraged her to more.
