My mother moved into Arbor Terrace Norwood in [date removed]. She walked into the facility with the aid of a walker singing and dancing. In the space of 11 months she fell 3 times. One time requiring 10 stitches to her face. Within 8 months she was confined to a wheelchair and hasn’t walked since. Her basic needs regarding hygiene weren’t met. She had dirty feet, scales, peeling skin and black pitted areas. On one occasion I found bruises on her body that had been there for sometime. It was only because I bought new clothes and took her into her room to try them on that I discovered them. I was told she bumped into a counter . I was denied a copy of the official report. As a result of the falls my mother wasn’t the same anymore. Every fall is traumatic for a dementia patient. It became hard for her to feed herself and so I’d find her dirty with breakfast and lunch remnants all over her. She’s a shell of who she was 13 months ago and I blame Arbor for not keeping her safe. Stay away.

I am in CNA school and a fellow student told and showed us proof about the shady practices that take place here. She was hired as a caregiver but they had her passing meds, Inserting tubes, cleaning tubes, and etc as an unlicensed person. This is a safety concern! No one without a meds license or Cna license should be inserting tubes or passing meds that’s such a liability. BEWARE! I was so disturbed by what i heard and saw and had to post.

If you want to see your loved one decline rapidly then memorycare is the place to accomplish that. However if you care about your loved one and wish to ensure their longevity then seek another facility as the director of memorycare and the upper management at the facility is only concerned about superficial appearances. The cosmetic look is golden but once you have signed on you will see all the cracks are in their foundation and once your back is turned you will see the true service for your money. Think twice as this is a costly decision on many fronts!

My mother was there for over three years and the level of care continued to decline as she needed more care. Medications were messed up and left laying on the floor (more than once); feces was not cleaned up on bedding (more than once); rather than attend to her incontinence issues, they would double up her Depends. Was left in room to eat all three meals - never encouraged to join others. Doctors orders were given to help with bathing and brushing teeth - neither happened. Would push her alarm button upon falling and often it would take over 30 minutes before staff showed up to help. Staff was not responsive to emails or calls. Room, while spacious, was rarely cleaned and had an odor that was never addressed. Very expensive for what you get...or don't get. If your loved one is extremely independent, they will thrive here. But if they need any assistance, they will quickly diminish as we saw happen with my mom.

Arbor Terrace seems to be unable to accomplish what we at home did 100% of the time… administer medication to my mother. As of today — [date removed] — they are still working through her supplies from May. What’s more, I was only informed that she wasn’t taking her medication a couple weeks ago. My mother suffers from Alzheimer’s as because Arbor Terrace neither administered the medication nor informed me promptly of the problem that might have been addressed, her condition has declined significantly. One of their charge nurses has repeatedly provide me with false information and is argumentative and unprofessional. I would not recommend this facility. The facility is nice and most of the staff is professional, but some of the nursing staff is horrible. And that’s tge most important staff.

Don't be deceived by the appearance of this facility. Checkout Complaints filed with PA Gov. of facility and director of nursing [removed] I moved my loved one out of Arbor, as the facility was unable to perform the care and services it prescribed under the state mandated Resident Supported Care Plan RASP. My patience was exhausted after many many months of complaining about, among many other things, finding her sheets dirty and her room un-cleaned as well.

The facility is not a good choice for a person who needs a higher level of hands on care. Nursing/ care staff is difficult to work with in solving problems. May be okay if someone is fairly independent. I would not recommend the facility.

My father was at Solana 2023. They were understaffed quite a bit of time and lied about that. When he first got there, the food was excellent then it went downhill. I felt as if I had to go every day to make sure of his safety and cleanliness there I changed his sheets and clean the bathroom Near and to the very end of my father’s life I was there almost 24 seven monitoring him because they couldn’t seem to get his morphine to him on a needed basis I have everything documented and it’s not a place you would want to send your family member at the end HORRIBLE!! I’m reading this and if there’s any other way, I could tell people about this I will please don’t let them fool you.

Don’t let your eyes deceive you! Grounds are kept well, interior design beautiful, and that’s about it! Spending money on a luxury-like resort! Meals - same thing everyday, stale, if you’re late- you’re not getting a meal! Hygiene- if you’re in assisted living, you pay for care- which is a minimum of two showers a week. Lucky if you even get one! No staff and they make excuses! Laundry- once a week, if you forget to put your laundry bag out- you’re out of luck. And count your blessings if you get everything back! Or you might even get someone else’s clothes! Housekeeping- once a week. Hopefully you have not made a big mess, or that person gets so mad! And the nerve of you to stay in your apartment when he/she comes to clean. I mean can’t you just take a nap in the hallway! Staff- there are some decent staff like some aides and med techs, but most recently a lot of them are quitting. In fact, there’s hardly any more staff! Save your money and RUN FAST!

Despite us telling them that our mother needed her Parkinson's medications religiously on time, they gave it to her 2 1/2 hours late and she really suffered. Their response time was disgraceful. My mother waiting an hour to 40 minutes whenever she buzzed for help. I would never recommend Arbor Terrace unless your loved one is very independent.

My experience at this facility has been terrible. One of my biggest complaints here is the food. It comes out ice cold. All of it, no matter what it is. I will say, they did hire a new Chef and things started to improve. But he got fired and now they're back to what they were. The meat, the vegetables, everything is served cold. It's to the point that hardly any of us go to the dining room to eat anymore. We prefer to have our meals delivered to our rooms so that we can heat them up before we eat them. Another big problem is that no one listens to your concerns here. If you complain, they tell you to leave if you don't like it here. This facility is a month to month agreement versus a traditional year lease, so it's easy for them to tell you that. Another issue is that help is never available. I know of 2 residents that have fallen and pressed their 'call button' for help and they waited for over an hour for a response/help. It's terrible. The only good thing here is the Physical Therapy. My husband and I both use it and it's very good. But not enough. I don't know how this place stays in business, to be honest. I don't think that the owners are aware of how terribly things are being run. There are hardly any Independent Residents left here. My son's reasoning for moving us here was so that someone would be there to help if we need it. Well, I don't get help here. There's never help available. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

my mother is a resident in memory care. a short summary: 1. promised a particular room. shortly before admission, informed that the room was unavailable (which they knew was likely when the first room was promised). 2. they refused to give necessary medication. their rationale boiled down to: we screwed up the initial paperwork on admission. you fix it. 3. my first call to their nursing director was not returned. my next call went to her voice mail box -- which was full. box was still full during my next call days later, even after their executive director had been informed. 4. when i filed a complaint with ahca, their executive diretor retaliated by sending a notice of eviction and then threatened to charge me with elder abuse. real nice. 5. falsely claimed to outside callers that i refused to provide a telephone for my mother. there is much more; but i only get 1000 characters here.

Please do your research before sending your loved one to live here. The facility might look nice from the outside and in the lobbies, but the rooms are absolutely filthy and the “care” they provide is subpar. When we were packing my aunt to move her to a new facility we found trash under furniture, dirty sheets and wipes stuffed in with clean ones, trash in her closet, trash and rusty razors in her nightstand, broken windows that had been “fixed” with cardboard and duct tape, and poop stains on the walls. There is also a serious lack of communication by the administration with family members, and questionable practices where it comes to medication and nutrition. We also often found my aunt (who has dementia) laying in bed in the dark staring at the wall because no one had come in to turn a light or the TV on. I will be reporting Arbor Terrace Lanham to the proper agencies because no one should have to live in a place like this.

My mom has mid/late alzheimers (started in 09) and moved into a 1 bedroom here several months ago when her husband passed and she didn't get along with her planned caregiver, who doesn't speak to me. I wasn't included in picking this place, but I went in once just before she moved in and of course they were nice then. I haven't heard from my mom since she moved in. I live 5 hours away and I have no idea what's going on with her. the residents don't have phones in their rooms so you have to get them a cell phone - but my mom can't figure out the new phone they got her, much less how to call me on it. Every time I call her, no one answers and the voicemail is full. I've called the facility multiple times & asked them to call me back or help her call me and nothing. They don't respond. I'm her only child and they won't help AT ALL. I don't understand why she's not in memory care and why she isn't getting more help with things like keeping in touch with family.

Mariposa was disgusting, I saw things that scared the daylight out of me. They did not have proper staffing and it was affecting the residents. We saw a woman sitting outside by herself and she had a long sleeve shirt and pants on and it was very hot outside. We brought her inside and she followed us around and no one had an eye on her, we had to find a caregiver to come get her. It was very upsetting to see and we had many other instances with other residents too. It was a very bad tour experience.

DO NOT put any family member in memory care . We had family neglected and i reported them to the state and they were found to be deficient . Make sure you look up the state deficiencies . Probably fine if not in memory care . Head nurse was mocking during family members demise .

Aesthetically looks beautiful with the fresh flowers in the lobby. Unfortunately the care and cleanliness are extremely disappointing. I had to more my father, and thank goodness I did. He is seems so much happier and definitely taken care of better. Please think twice before sending your love ones to the memory care unit.

My father was a resident in the memory care. They tell you anything to get you in there, but if your loved one truly has dementia or Alzheimer’s they staff is not trained to take care of them. Countless mistakes and neglect to name a few issues they have. Please look elsewhere and don’t get fooled by the initial warm welcome, it turns very quickly.

It's very expensive, and anything you ask for besides just the regular rent costs more money. Recently they tried to charge $5.50 per meal to have your meals delivered to your room. No warning, they just started doing it. The food quality is atrocious. I would say 3-4 days out of the week at least, it's chicken and asparagus, or some weird kind of soup. There are no fresh vegetables. No consideration to what elderly people want to eat or how they can eat it. It's plated terribly, and very unappetizing looking.
