This has been a HORRIBLE experience. Our Mother has been there less than a week and has fallen three times with two visits to the ED. We paid $12,000 to place her here with all the expectations of good care and supervision. Shame on them. We will be moving Mom to somewhere with adequate supervision.

My family had a very bad experience with Sunrise of Crestwood. We had to remove our loved one because the staff made major decisions regarding our loved one's care without consulting the family or any physician. The decisions that the staff made without consulting the family resulted in emotional distress and harm to our loved one and in huge additional costs. I cannot begin to explain how much stress the management's actions have caused my family. This place is only good for residents who have no problems other than walking. If your loved one has any other medical or cognitive issues, this is not the place for them. The staff is young and inexperienced, and most of all, lack compassion and kindness towards the elderly. The executive director is new and does not have a clue about how to run an assisted living facility. She relies on other people who have been there, such as the Care Manager, who is equally clueless and a rude person. The directors and managers (especially the Regional Nurse Manager) have no concern about the welfare of the residents. They view the residents more as liabilities than as human beings, and treat them as such. Like I said, if your loved one has no medical or cognitive problems, then they might be okay here, but the minute there is a problem, be prepared to have the management make bad major decisions about your loved one without consulting the family or a physician.

My parents have lived there 5 months. There cost has doubled. My mother has never been this sick and we originally went in for care for dad. I would never recommend this place. Food is the same. Activities are terrible and the same all the time. People are sitting around doing nothing. No parking Not sure how other families deal with the cost, but look at your invoices. 5 months and none have been right. Now they insist on administering their meds and they can't even have rub for sore muscles, cough medicine, cream for eczema. So disappointed in this place and will be moving them out asap so they don't run out of money.

VERY COSTLY They get you in and then within a couple months the price sky rockets with "extra care..." they think family member needs but oh wait it will cost you $$$$ per month. Not happy at all. If we can move mom we will. Its all about money Activities are the same all the time and residents are just sitting around falling asleep. bingo during day, movie at night. woohoo What happened to activities that get seniors excited, keep their minds going, laughing ......

I have had a loved one in this facility for over a year now and I concur with a couple of the other reviewers. Many improvements are needed. When I signed up to bring my loved one to the facility, I was misled about so many things but the two things are the care and pricing. Jean, the head of Wellness should not be dealing with the public as she is a very unfriendly person. The Executive Director just hides and smiles and always seems to turn their issue back around on your loved one as if that is going to appease people - to blame them rather than correct their problem. Three times over the last month, my loved one pressed the alarm button and no one ever came to help. This is totally unacceptable. This place only seems interested in how much money they can charge for services they don't provide.. The food is tasteless and when my loved one, who will eat most anything complains, I know it's bad. I've eaten at 3 Assisted Living facilities and this is way below even cafeteria food. The location of the facility is great but I am currently looking for a better solution. This place is just not cutting it.

The care at Sunrise for my wheelchair-bound 81 year-old mother was horrible. The staff lacked careful attention to her needs-like keeping her oxygen on, toileting needs and cleaning her properly. Almost every day, my mother had a new cut or bruise on her legs which she had difficulty recovering from. As a result, a wound nurse had to look over the care of all her cuts and bruises which no one from Sunrise could explain. The caregiver assigned to her was rude and intimidating. My mother was scared of her and eventually we asked for another caregiver. Every day, I left there feeling very insecure about leaving my mother there since my mother really could not do anything on her own. When my mother needed to go the bathroom, she would push her alert button and no one would come. Please do NOT send your loved one to this place. It was HORRIBLE!! My mother was only there for 1 month and then we took her out to come live with me. I knew I could take better care of her!

I can't believe people put their loved ones here. They should be shut down

Staff are nowhere to be found, the building is filthy, the director could care less about families! Do NOT move anyone you love here.

Very disappointed. My mother in law is there, she is so out of it that she can't ask for her pain n stomach meds that doctor prescribed 3x a day. We as her children told them she must get them because if she don't she will b in lots of pain. They say they asked her n she didn't say she wanted them. She can't answer any longer for herself she's in her last days, we n the DR just want her to b comfortable n they don't follow DR orders

Very unhappy, came here because my mother needed extra care with meds. Was suppose to get it around the clock every 6 hours, they didn't give it to her in 13 hours n she was in extreme pain. Spoke to supervisor promised it wouldn't happen again next day same thing terrible experience. There very nice but incompetent

I have a family member in memory care with Sunrise going on six months now. They are in great health with only memory/ dementia problems. The care givers seem to truly care about my family member and always kindly call them by name. The food seems to be good with a wide variety to choose from. There always seem to be activities going on. My family member is always clean and seems to be well cared for I can't complain. My challenge has been with the pharmacy they use and the administration of meds, the nursing staff and administration. Moving in we were unaware that my family member did not have Medicare coverage for pharmacy. We had two family members pass away last Spring and so caring for our loved one just fell in our lap. We didn't even have a Medicare card or Ss card on our loved one. We were told by Christy we needed to use their omnicare pharmacy when we signed the paperwork due to convenience. ( we see now it's convenient only for sunrise at our expense) The first two months together were $1400 dollars for 3 meds. I immediately (in person with my bill) contacted the nursing staff in memory care because contacting the doctor was next to impossible. We had no direct phone number and apparently he lives out of state I advised the nurse in person that we wanted to be removed from this pharmacy. Another month of bills came we were not removed. I again called and spoke directly with Stacie the nurse there on Sunday's and we were assured it would be taken care of. Another month of bills came. ( my family member takes only 3 meds and has no significant health issues besides dementia and memory loss. Finally I contacted Christy on a Saturday 4 months after my initial request to be removed....and then was kindly assured Cheryl the administrator would call me on the following Monday. No call. I finally called her extremely unhappy the following Thursday. I decided to go in and discuss in person the ordeal. She assured me they were sorry and would reimburse me on my next bill. She did take $800 off my next sunrise bill. I was so happy. Then The next week I was phoned by the nurse Jana over how my new chosen pharmacy should be packaging the medications ( because they didn't like the way they fit into their medicine cart and were hard to dispense) I was told they had to be in bubble wrap which later I determined was a blister pack (which very few pharmacies do on ALL medications) i was told in the conversation with Jana. "I have 100 patients to worry about and using this other pharmacy is taking too much time." She said all refills we MY responsibility and also announced they were going up on our bill from a med level two to a med level three.... Seemed much like in spite of the pharmacy change. I was so upset. She said she would not be responsible for letting me know when my loved one needed anything from the pharmacy it was ALL up to me. And also I would be responsible for moving the RX from the old pharmacy to the new one. Which I had been assured by Cheryl would be done by the person who oversees the pharmacy omnicare at Sunrise. I was misinformed. I later after talking to my loved ones physician after three phone calls to get a good working phone number. I found out and by talking to a pharmacist directly....a doctor is THE ONLY Person that can transfer a script in this situation. Nurses and admin. again misinformed me My family was just trying to get by with applying for Medicare part D (which you can't do until October to dec and ONLY if you are a representative on their Social security account which is a another challenge in itself) Conclusion: Sunrise was not helpful.... misinformed us and did not care about our problem. One month later Cheryl sent us a notice of a price increase of $400 a month of overall fees. . Seems like retribution to me. Since my complaint I've had papers not given to her doctor that I've dropped off. A residency form taking a week to get and not dated or notarized by April. And continued grief about the pharmacy. It will teach me to never complain again. We are shopping for a better place. Without people working against us.

They have some great people here but they are understaffed. They say they are not but then they will be 2 aides down because they didn't show. Managers do not step up to help. So they over work the ones that are there and things do not get done. They will throw a big party but not have staff to help them to the bathroom. To me you are only as good as your top people and they seem not to want to get in and help. Activities can be great one week but not much the next. Just because it is on the sheet doesn't mean it will happen. This happens often and not much happens on the weekends. Rooms are different sizes, many are small with bathrooms being way too small !! They never thought of wheelchairs. I will say the food is pretty good. The managers are the ones that need to get off their butt and do a better job!

This facility takes advantage of residents. The Resident Care Director has used a clause in the contract to raise care rates for my mother without input or authorization from my mother or me and refuses to comply with instructions. He states, "I am not required to obtain a families approval when it comes to changing care per resident agreement article 1 section F". The rate has more than tripled with an increase of $1500+ per month within 5 months. Further, it appears my mother is being charged for services not received, based upon our observation and commentary from Sunrise aides. It appears the Resident Care Director just wants to increase profit for the business without regard to my mother. I strongly suggest you look elsewhere for an assisted living facility.

My mother has been at Brighton Gardens for 3 years. At first it was a good fit but as her Heath deteriorates due to her age and dementia, it has become a very bad fit for her. There is NO real nursing care available. The nurses can check temperature, heart rate and blood pressure. That's it. The doctor only visits once a week, so if my mother needs any sort of simple, routine test or check up during the 6 out of 7 days he isn't there, only option is to take her to the ER. Hence, do not expect any increase in nursing services as your parent's needs increase. We had to hire additional nurses and other services just so my mother received consistent medical oversight. In summary, I am very disappointed in Brighton Gardens and wish I had more financial resources so I could take my mother out of this facility.

We toured and were thrilled with the look and feel of Sunrise and the level of care for a patient with dementia that was promised. In reality, this is assisted living think hotel room, minimal care, not healthcare. There is a real communication breakdown between patient requests, caregivers, nursing staff and administration. Any medical or physical request was basically passed to someone else who might take care or pass again. Multiple requests for same issues are common and some were never resolved ie request for wound treatment or pain medication. We had to hire an aid for 12 hours daily doubling the monthly cost since they could not take care of our patient and the aid and we seemed to be the only ones taking care of our patient not Sunrise. Patients are kept in wheelchairs if they have mobility issues all day. They lost all clothes and personal items, again, no one there could help us. We had multiple meetings and phone calls with nurses and administration without any resolution; there does not seem to be a chain of command or necessary structure to resolve issues effectively. Caregivers need to engage and speak to dementia patients but only most basic needs are met (and not in a timely way). We removed our very ill patient by ambulance and no one said good bye or wished us good luck. We are heartbroken that such a promising placement turned into a nightmare for our family and caution you to really understand what can and will actually be taken care of by staff not what the sales or tour person is promising. Could not recommend.

My father moved into Lakewood Estates late February early March 2015. He was so excited, and everyone was very kind to him, he loved his studio, and for the most part he thought this was a great place. That lasted for a week. He started noticing how rude the staff was to its residents. The meals were not what they advertised. The management was the worst - I witnessed first hand yelling at the residents and staff that looked so unhappy. There were many red flags and I sent my concerns to the Holiday Touch Corporate office and was told that the incidents would be looked into. Nothing was done - the management stayed the same. Not caring, and [removed]. My dad moved out on August 1, 2015. This would not be a place I would want any of my family members to ever live at - because of its on staff management.

This place is too crowded and they treat their seniors like animals. They force them to stay in their rooms during certain times of the day. They use threats to keep the seniors in line. This place is a nightmare and unfortunately my grandma had to endure this place for 2 years before she finally had the courage to tell me how bad it really was. Stay far away from this place it is horrible

This is truly the nicest facility in the area! Spacious rooms, lots of activities, attentive staff. This is one of the only places that doesn't have the residents sitting around staring at each other "waiting to die." Every time I walk in the residents are actively engaged in an activity. There are all different levels of ability and the activities are tailored to the individual abilities.

First, I should mention my mother has a very difficulty type of Alzheimer's that includes a lot of aggression and anger. And, my mother did not do well at Sunrise and we moved her out after 3 months. They have very little if any activities for the residents in the memory care unit. They also were not very communicative despite our efforts to learn what was going on with our mom. Their web site claims the staff uses Validation techniques for residents with Alzheimer's but the staff has never heard of that. Finally, my mom got in a fight with another resident who kicked her in the leg. The leg got really infected and the staff blamed my mom for taking her Band-aids off. Eventually, she needed to be hospitalized for her leg wound. So, if you have a loved one with Alzheimer's that doesn't mind sitting around doing nothing all day, then Sunrise might be the place. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
