They closed the facility about a month before the government shut down due to covid. Communication was horrible and they did not return calls and let us know what was going on. I would not recommend this community at all. They were all very unprofessional and had an attitude when trying to get information/

The care services are beyond negative, there are times they forgot to feed our loved one, they would clean our loved one when she would get sick, she would sit in filth for days. They should be put out business, and they have a bunch of kids running the place. The director was never there, and the whole organization is bad.

Our experience was terrible, the director was a great guy as well as the aids. But we had a problem with the two head nurses. They dropped the ball with our loved ones care, She was severely dehydrated and had a severe UTI, so she was taken to the hospital. We then found how she got C diff at this community. The nurses did not make the staff and other aids aware that our loved one had C diff, we were the ones that had to make them aware since it is very contagious. We felt our loved one was neglected by the two nurses. One of the head nurses was not friendly towards us at all. Our loved ones bathroom was disgusting. We also were the ones that ad to tell them to call an ambulance to come get our loved one on two separate occasions not the nurses, All of the staff members were wonderful except for the two head nurses. the aids did take really good care of our mother as well as the people at the front desk. The director spent a good amount of time with our mother, and he really did care for her.

They did not do anything that we asked them to do, our experience here was terrible. We would ask them to shower my dad at 3 and that was never done. We also wanted them to name themselves when they entered the room since my dad was blind and they would never do so. They had a lot turnover at this facility as well with directors, staff members, etc. so there was no consistency. I also saw a lot of inappropriateness of the staff. The food here was like dog food, it was terrible and had no flavor. I would never recommend this facility.

Such a hopeless feeling for all family members during this virus, we are at the mercy of the facility for everything.  Trying to have a connection with family is challenging, and it is difficult not to be emotional and heartbroken.    Dialed the main number for 40 minutes to arrange a family call, no one answered.  We do this every night, but now there is no reception to take the call.  The calls are to be answered by the care team.  Often they go unanswered, you can leave a message, but those messages have never been returned, and if answered, you may need to call again, to make the connection, because the staff has forgotten.   They are busy, I know, so you accept and you let it go.  Today, I called during the day, 50 minutes trying to connect, receptionist said all a go, no call back of a problem, and as I made contact with reception again, told they were busy with an activity and I could not talk to my mom - a decision made by the staff. As I said, we are at their mercy, and I try to accept this fact every day, but for two days, I am unable to make the minimum contact, with the exception of our weekly 20 minute social distance visit on a hot porch, with masks, and no fans, this is the only connection I have, there were pictures, but have seen nothing in the last weeks, and the staff without even asking, tells the family member, the one paying the bill - your mother is doing an activity and we will not take her to her room for a call with you.   There are other decisions made, that have not been reviewed, only to have been revealed in conversations, and again, I accept.  I do believe my mother's needs are being met, grateful she has been in a virus free environment, and I know a change would not be in her best interest - but I just feel so defeated.

I would tell people looking at Brighton Gardens that management only cares about the money they make, not about the people. They raise the price without contacting families. They are not very friendly staff members, they are afraid of management. My mother got COVID from an aid there and no one notified me or the doctor. They sent out a letter saying if anyone had a fever, they would notify the family and doctor and they did not do either, she had a fever for 3 days. They gave her the wrong medicines many times. It was a horrible experience.

My dad was in the dementia wing, after a week he wasn't feeling good and they kept telling us he was fine and he was getting used to the facility. He ended up in the ER with a urinary tract infection. Another time, I got a call my dad had fallen and I asked when they last checked on him and they had said 7 hours ago. For all the money spent, it was horrible. The place looks great, but the care was horrible. I would not recommend to anyone.

My mother has lived in Sunrise Memory Care for almost two years. There have always been small issues, and phone calls not return, but able to get a response because I visited her every other day and I believe her daily care needs were met. With the VIRUS lockdown, I cannot confirm that, too many things that have been dropped to list here and as I tried to follow up, at times told I was micromanaging or when I questioned, I was making team feel inadequate . They are short staffed, with activities canceled, and no volunteers to help. In frustrating conversation with Director, informed no budget for additional staff, and all concerns were dismissed. Communications to corporate passed on to Region Director without courtesy to acknowledge receipt. If leadership cares, they do not show it - these feelings felt by other family members I have spoken with. My mom losing more of her communication skills during this time, the isolation and lack of activity, or part of the journey, I will never know. I do know, there are good people that work there and take care of my mom on a daily basis. They are asked to spread themselves in so many areas. I know we will not move and I pray every day for my mom's wonderful care staff and their families, and that they take good care of my mom, but with all the frustrations and lack of caring with their leadership - I would definitely not recommend Sunrise of Frisco.

‘Sunrise of Edgewater is an infested by mice senior living facility! Mice are everywhere: running in the hallways, in residents apartments. Disgusting! Residents complain, but these complaints go nowhere! The management answer: exterminator is coming. Meanwhile, executive director remains deaf to the complaints, busy laughing in the hallways with other management staff members. If there was no star rating, that would be my choice. Poorly ran facility!’

Unfortunately my experience with Sunrise of Plainview was less than stellar. The staff was pleasant enough when first contacted. After my loved one moved in everything clearly went downhill.

The area my apartment was in was in at the community was very unclean. The dinning room was the worst and was much too regimented and very unaccommodating. The staff was not friendly, however the residents were fantastic. The activities were agreeable, however there were hardly any options for entertainment. The price was over inflated. They also didn't give me the apartment I wanted.

They keep the community clean and with the Covid-19 pandemic, they have implemented extra precautions. The need to improve the management. The food is brought to our rooms every day, which is a far cry from when the dinning room was open. There have been no activities since everyone is isolated. Their evaluation of things was terrible.

If you truly have a loved one you love, you would not put them here. Their only interest is their profit, not the residents. There were many times they messed up my mothers meds, didn't follow up with her doctors. Care Managers made degrading comments to my mother. Showers that weren't given at times and I had to call them to get the showers done. Room smelled of urine, and I had to tell them to do something about it, otherwise they were leaving it like that, like if that was ok. Look, if the resident don't have someone to watch out for them, they will be ignored as my mother was when she contracted COVID-19 there and all they did was put a quarantine sign on her door and never informed myself the daughter or call her doctor. This is a very sad place to put anyone, don't do it.

Horrible care in the memory loss community. They are supposed to be treated as individuals. During the pandemic i called and asked if my mother was being taken care of and how was she. Caregiver said "same as everyone else" She was on hospice and should have gotten individual care these were her last days. She ended up being dehydrated. I had to call nursing myself to have them give her a glass of water. She died during the pandemic. When i think of her last days i can hardly stand it. For her first two years i was there for her 3-4 days a week. when the pandemic hit we were not allowed to visit until her last week of life. During this time she was neglected. Left to sit all by herself. She had dementia and needed someone. Shame on you Sunrise of granite run!

Do not put your parents here. The place is a total rip off.they stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from my parents situating them first in independent living and knowing they could not live by themselves! Then after the home realizes they needed assisted living made them move after taking thousands of dollars. Once my mother was there I warned the poa that she would fall without a caregiver at all times To make a long story short mom ended up in a wheelchair never to walk again until death, Another woman was made fun of by aides and her family sued the quadrangle and won, the food is disgusting , the help are minimum wage workers on their cell phones all day and the activities are a joke! If you care about your relative better to keep them at home and hire help, it will be cheaper and most of all a blessing yo your loved one who often can’t express there wishes for end of life care, Caveat emptor... you have been warned.

First Hand Experience: I recently visited a relative at Sunrise of Fair Oaks in the Memory Unit and I was sicken by the way they treat the elderly-without a voice. The place stinks with a foul smell and residents were walking around with wet clothes from not being changed. Staff just sit residents in front of the TV and chat with each other. I can't imagine treating a dog the way they treat People that live there.

My dad is living a nightmare in isolation for almost a month & a half. He just informed me that 8 people had died of the corona virus. No one informs his family. The owners are trash. , most of the assisted living owners are trash. My dad is getting zero care. They just bring him a meal & leave it in his kitchen in the other room. No exercise, no form of communication. My dad has minimal Dementia ; very alert & tells me they are not friendly employees to the elderly. The old [profanity removed] [name removed] in the front has a poor disposition. She needs to retire. I hope someone mistreats her. I rather be dead than be in any of the [profanity removed] homes.

Pretty place, good food, pleasant staff and some very good caregiviers. However, we are still waiting for March 2020's refund. My beloved mother-in-law passed away at about 5:30 AM on February 25, 2020. Our check for March's asssited living costs was responsibly mailed mid February, cashed the day AFTER her passing and still no refund. We continue to experience a lack of response on multiple levels from Sunrise administration in Wayne, NJ as well as an office in Virginia. Our family is not only due a refund but a professional response to our calls.
