Staff are all very pleasant however lacking in skill and are short staffed, so everyone has multiple roles. There is no continuity, food is not acceptable, a new chef is being trained. Does he know how to cook? Most residents are very ill, almost nursing home ready. I expected more people to be up and around. Not my definition of assisted living.

Our experience has been different from what we originally expected . For example, at move-in, we were told there would be a warm welcome that included staff greeting us, sharing lunch, helping my parent get settled, and involving them in an activity. What actually happened was more limited - a brief greeting and lunch. While the staff were kind and friendly, the follow through was not quite what we anticipated. We've also had mixed experiences with the nursing staff. One nurse has been more challenging to work with, while the other has been helpful. Early on, there were delays with my parent receiving medication on time. The billing department is hard to reach and there have been delays with our invoices which we need to submit to our long term care insurance. Because we are still working to feel confident about the day-to-day care, we have hired a caregiver to check on my parent several days a week. After much consideration we have decided to move them to another community.

I'm not happy so far. My sister and I visit our dad almost everyday. And we have found him soiled quite often. And when he does get cleaned up, the bathroom remains a mess. We have found his meds left on the counter. He has fallen 3 times. And emails are not answered in a time appropriate manner.

I have a loved one staying at the Pueblo Regent and I would not recommend this place to anyone right now. The Regent has been mismanaged this past year and to top it off they currently have a bad bed bug infestation. They had to close down the dining room for over a week to treat for bugs and for an issue in their kitchen. The daily activities posted on the calendar for the residents is rarely accurate. It is sad because this place has so much potential but you need a general manager who cares about the residents and is competent. Unfortunately, the residents did not get such a manager and now corporate is cleaning up the mess. The residents are a great group and tend to look out for each other. Some of the staff are good too but others need to be held accountable for their lack of performance.

The facility only has one elevator. Residents live on the second floor and there is always a line for the elevator before and after meals. Once residents are on the first floor for meals, they are left in the lobby. They either have to fend for themselves or wait for an aid to push them to the dining room. The dining room is not large enough for wheelchairs to be maneuvered for seating. Residents need an aid or dining room staff to move chairs so that residents can be pushed to a table. It is not the fault of the aids. There is not enough staff to deal with the number of residents. The facility does not have roll in showers. They are sorely needed for the wheelchair bound. They are only able to have a sponge bath. The only way for the wheelchair bound to get a shampoo is if they are able to rest their heads on a sink. Moreover, I had to walk through the memory care unit a few times. Do not send people there for memory care. Residents are haphazardly left in a large room for the day. Look for another facility.

They charge for care not given and every month there was a billing mistake from [fee removed] up to [fee removed] mistakes every single month.

My mother, who recently passed away, was a resident of this place, solely because of the glowing reviews this place somehow received. Then [name removed], being the typical saleswoman that she is, sold my sister and my father on moving her in. However, once my mother was moved in, we, her family, soon enough got a rude awakening after the week-long honeymoon period. This place is overrated and definitely not worth the outrageous amount of money they charge. The admin staff is absolute garbage, specifically the very rude, disrespectful, childish, and unprofessional [name removed] (the VOLUNTEER activities director). I also am not a fan of [name removed] (the person who allegedly runs things there), [name removed](activity staff person), [name removed] (the care coordinator of the floor my mother was on), [name removed] (the saleswoman), and others in the activities admin staff. I would hate to think that the Sunrise administration's (and a couple of the staff members') microaggressions and unpleasant, immature

[name removed] went to the memory care unit for severe dementia. Within 2 weeks the facility called 911 and had her taken to the emergency room for misbehavior. They promised me they would be able to care for her and had staff to get her on meds to calm her down. They have a tough job - they just shouldn't have promised me the world. [name removed] now lives at home with me and I take care of her. I thank God everyday for our lives and being together.

Protocols are often not executed properly, often that represent a health hazard to residents even when reported to staff & administration. Accountability from management is lacking, including at the Ex- Director level. Don't expect that the price you pay will provide better care. There are a few excellent staff but sadly in memory care it's lacking

The food is very good here but the staff in the dining room, because they are so short, is very slow. Pressing our call button also creates a very slow response to what we may need. It is very clean here, and there are many activities that you can participate in which is good.

This facility may look good at first glance.  But if you look carefully, it’s a bit seedy and the care is questionable. I pressed my alarm button yesterday because I was beginning to lose sight in my one good eye. Someone did come to turn off my alarm, then informed my nurse (?) who proceeded to do nothing. I had to get my own glaucoma eyedrops.  Otherwise they did nothing.   The building is not equipped to get the a/c up to the second floor.  God only knows what it’s like on the third floor. My own room is intolerably hot. The lights in the main floor library are not to be turned down or out. I was told so by the concierge/receptionist several days ago.  When I had to retreat to the first floor due to the heat on the second, I found the lights out.  Go figure. Now I was just told that I cannot stretch out on a couch in a common area.  I was not sleeping there. It was just a more comfortable posture for my aching neck (arthritis between C3 and C4). There was no one there to see me

I have avoided any kind of review of Sunrise McLean because the management and staff there are mostly incompetent. The director [name removed] is the worst manager I have ever seen. Now that my mother has been there for awhile and it has been open for two years last April maybe it is time for a change. It is extremely convenient and close to home. Many of the memory residents that don't have family or very few visits seem to decline quickly. I visit there frequently to help her confusion stay level. I found in moving from the previous facility to there was a very difficult transition and don't want to put her through that again. She considers it home and can put up with the terrible food service and the caretakers that aren't always helpful usually because of a language barrier.

The Reminiscence (memory care) floor care team, including nursing staff, is excellent yet woefully understaffed. They work tirelessly but simply don't have enough hands to provide the care all the residents require. The Executive Director has made an arbitrary rule disallowing private, professional caregivers and family members (including POAs and guardians) from assisting residents, which leaves those who require the most help with ADLs without the assistance they need. It's frustrating environment for residents, families and staff alike.

Salesperson gave us the hard sell and took advantage of our need to get my parents moved quickly. I feel she told outright lies to us and I still resent the fact that we are tied to this facility. The food is awful and communication with the staff is poor and frustrating. And getting in and out of the building and in/out of memory care is a hassle every time. I hate visiting.

nurses need much improvement. Be prepared to help with your loved ones care more than anticipated- if your loved ones can't take care of themselves-and I mean in all areas of care

Overall, very disappointed with staff communication and care. Sales staff are great but what they say and think are completely disconnected from the care manager and staff. We had some difficulties having things paid for due to untrained business staff. It is better than the place he was in before which I took him out of but not much better.

Under construction for six month out of the months. The aids are amazing, but they could definitely use a few more for sure. Yes, I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had.

My major take home point is that the staff was very hit or miss as far as they're friendliness and compassion when taking care of my dad. Some of them were absolutely top-notch and some of them were not practicing their craft with the but most of kindness and compassion let's just say that.
