My tour of this community was a nice one. The community looks nice and well maintained. The staff was kind and informative. They were great with their follow up to make sure we were doing well. It was a nice experience. I wanted a community that focused mainly on Alzheimer's care. This community is an assisted living and Alzheimer care. It is a very nice community, but not the one for my mother.

This is a nice community for me. It is very clean. I like the staff that are always helpful. The food is good here and I am pleased with the meals that are offered. I would recommend this for other families looking for a good community.

Sunrise of Willowbrook is an assisted living facility. We have found that the majority of seniors there are really closer to nursing care patients. It would have been nice to know just how many people there are really not so with it anymore. If your loved one doesn't find a few people to connect with it is a rather depressing place. Also the meals are serving very close together with dinner beginning st 4:30. What are people supposed to do from 5:5:30 till 10:00 at night. There should be 2 servings for dinner. Cost cutting measures significantly reduce people's quality of life and are not worth the savings

This was a respite for my husband and it was a really good experience but the meals he ate made it awful too. The only bad thing is the food here. They are not cooking the food properly and has no taste. The meals are either over cooked or under cooked. Otherwise the physical therapist was excellent. He is the main reason I brought my husband. I was impressed when we met him and he was great at reviving my husband to a better stage. His room was nice, clean and modern looking.

This community is nice. We had lunch, and the food was somewhat over-cooked. If my mom were to move into this community she would be able to stay active. The price was a good value. The staff was very friendly and answered all of our questions.

I was disappointed when I attended a tour of this community. I saw the memory care and it did not look like the residents were being engaged. It was a depressing feeling. The community did not seem very clean. The person that conducted the tour was nice but she did not seem prepared to answer my questions.

The community was very well kept indoors and outdoors. The staff were friendly and were able to answer all of my questions.The community, however, was very dark and gloomy. The living space was very cramped and small. My furniture would not fit in the rooms. I met a resident during the tour and they said that the community was a good place.

Common Room was too crowded with patients.

Beautiful setting, like that of a nice hotel, even for the memory care wings. Awesome bathing facilities, with seating in large walk-in tub as one option. Setting is not far from Blackhawk near the base of Mt. Diablo. Impressions are from a walk-through visit only. It was very nice, but also priciest of the places we visited.

My tour of this community was okay, but I didn't really like this community. It has a hospital setting and I didn't want that for my aunt. The community is multiple stories and my aunt was not comfortable with traveling on an elevator. I wasn't very impressed with the administration. They have a very young staff here and I didn't feel they were very experienced. I'm pretty sure it is a nice community. Just not the community for my aunt.

First, the people are lovely. They are genuinely caring. But if your loved one is on the 1st or 3rd floor for reminiscence care, you will need to follow up closely for any individual requests that you need. Everything from specific hygiene requests to medical requests. I've found that some of our requests are complied with, but others are not. And there is little follow through and communication to all staff members. Mgt. intentions are good, but the follow up is lacking to staff on the floor. Part of that is probably because there are 3 shifts - which is MUCH better than those places who have only 2 shifts. But then the messages don't get passed along to everyone. Staff are supposed to check each patient's file upon arrival, but I don't think that actually happens. Plus, there are so many "fires to put out" (meaning, every day, all day, they have to keep up with any number of residents acting up, so they often don't have time to give the personalized care that families are expecting.) The first priority for residents is always safety. Which everyone agrees with for sure. So if one of the residents who is a fall risk keeps trying to get up from the chair, then staff members have to attend to that first. And that happens alot because many of the residents on these floors have dementia. Then if other residents are irritating fellow residents, they have to deal with that. Again, it happens alot. Then logistics comes next, getting everyone to the bathroom before and after meals, getting them to the dining room for meals, getting them to their rooms at night.. All those things come first. So if you have a specific thing you'd like them to do for your loved one that is not related to safety, it may not get done. And then if they do have time, it may be forgotten. Sunrise is definitely keeping my Dad safe and sheltered, and it's a much, much better facility than a nursing home. They don't leave residents in their rooms during the day, and gather them all together for activities, which is great. But I continue to be disappointed with the lack of individual attention that I was expecting. So my advice is to go in with an open mind, but be prepared to live with the fact that it won't be as fabulous as you may be led to believe up front. Not a "bait and switch" issue, just the reality of dealing with reminiscence residents.

My tour went good and I got to see how nice the community looked. The community added more care cost that was about 2 thousand more. I felt like the staff were not well experienced and although it does look very nice I was not getting that "Home-like" feeling.

Actually I would rate as 3.5 stars at this point. My husband is doing well here at this community. There are a few things they need to improve on. It is a nice looking community. They keep the community neat and clean. The staff is great, but some of the caregivers leave a little to be desired. They don’t pay attention to certain things and some don’t seem to have much common sense. There are great activities offered. He loves the food, which is a big plus. I'm comfortable with the care, and I would recommend this community.

My dad is getting good care and I feel good knowing that he is safe here. The community is kept clean and well. My dad is not enjoying his food, the taste and flavor needs improvement. Dad also is not interested in the activities and participants are more female than male. He would like other options and more male things. I would recommend this community otherwise.

My experience in this community has been decent. I have had some issues with some bugs in my room, they are working on fixing that. I do think they could do a better job with the cleanliness of the community. I do like the staff, they are very nice. There are activities offered. The food isn't the best, they need more of a variety of choices. At this time I don't know if I would recommend it.

This community has been good for my mom and I so far. The staff keep the community clean and they are friendly helpful all the time. The food at the community is okay to my mom but she would prefer German food instead. My mom has been socializing and I believe she is even attending activities available. Overall I have not had a problem and I would recommend this community after taking a look at it.

I got to take a tour of this community and I feel that this is not an active community due to the residents' age and condition. During my tour I did not see engagement or interaction with the residents. The activities seemed limited and my mom needed more activities.

I was not pleased with this community and what they had to offer. It wasn't the right community for my sister. The people were nice and friendly, also the staff was kind. It is a nice clean facility. The residents were an older then my sister, so I didn't feel she would relate with them. It was a fair tour with nice people.

My mother is doing okay here at this community. The cleanliness is fair for the most part, but the staff does not clean up any vomit or diarrhea. They do come and clean her room and change her sheets and dump the trash. Most of the staff is pretty helpful and attentive. They do offer nice activities for the residents. She does like the food, she says the meals are good. At this moment this would not be a community I would recommend.

Sunrise of Palos Park is not the right fit for my mother in law. Since moving in she thinks the food is terrible and the staff are not attentive to her needs . They promised us that she would be involved in activities but she does not usually leave her room. I do not think I would recommend this community but I do recommend doing your research on the communities.
