Sunrise Senior Living

During my tour of this community I had noticed that the facility was poorly maintained and not kept very clean. There was also a disturbing smell throughout the building that I did not want my loved one to be exposed to everyday. Other than that the staff was very kind and gave a good tour of there community.

On the tour it just felt like there was not as much independence. It came with good recommendations and the location was close to us. it was fine but not as nice as the other places. It was also a little more expensive and they only h ad a 1 unit bedroom that has a street view.

I had a pretty decent tour of this community. From what we saw the community appeared to be well maintained. I did feel that it was a bit smaller than other community's we looked at. The staff was nice and friendly. They were informative and answered my questions. The community is located in a nice location. Overall it was a good tour, but not the place for my mother and her needs.

When I went to tour the community we found they charged too much for everything. They said they would do a therapy in the room. They did not have an area to do the therapy like the other communities we saw.

The food needs a lot of improvement, there is little to no taste to the meals and the proportions are way to small for the residents. My loved one is very comfortable in her apartment, it is spacious with a beautiful view of the outside scenery.

The community has nice staff and my loved one seems to be adjusting pretty well. I don't really like that there have been a few events that my loved one has not been able to engage in because the staff are not assisting in taking them to the events. My loved one would like to go to Sunday mass but staff again doesn't help. The community overall is nice and has a lot to offer but, the staff need to start paying more attention.

We were not comfortable with them. It was a good experience but with harder sales and I felt they did not seem to focus on my interests. It was a little dingy when walking in. I saw about 5 people coloring in the dining hall with the staff talking to each other and not really interacting with residents. The only complaint is they called me 4-5 times after the visit and after telling them I selected another community.

My mother didn't end up making the move into this community, she didn't want to go. This is a lovely community. My only issue was that I was looking for long term care for my parents, and they didn't not offer that type of care. It was good experience, but this was not the community for us.

They were a nice facility, They are for senior living and a small part is for memory care. We needed a devotional memory care. It was on a restricted 4th floor and the only outdoor exposure was on a balcony. The facility had many floor levels. This was not a fit for us.

This is a nice newer community. The staff is friendly. He has settled in well and adjusting. They do have activities that are offered and he likes participating. I would recommend this for families seeking a great place for a loved one.

I had a pretty pleasant tour of this community. It was a nice tour, everybody was kind. The community looked great, and nice and clean. The staff was helpful and very friendly. Everything went very well, but this wasn't the place for me.

This is a nice community. Things have improved alot from when we first moved my mother in law in here. A clean enviroment. Alot of great activities are available. A community with good care.

Today is probably not the right day to do this review because I am very very concerned & upset because my Mother fell in the bathroom at approximately 12::30 AM, then laid in the floor for 2 hours yelling for help and trying to find the cord to pull so a nurse could come & help her. Though I find all the staff very kind & acomadating, I see room for improvement. I don't understand why someone is not checking on the residences at least once every hour. My mother is 99% blind and she has a lot of health issues. I also don't like the fact that a nurse came into my mothers room and woke her up on two different occasions and proceeded to tell her to roll over and without any explanation just jerked her pants down and proceeded to clean her and change her pull ups. Mom is very good about washing every night before going to bed. She tried to tell the nurse this and was ignored. The nurse was ruff and told her it was the law & had to be done to watch for infection. I complained to management on both occasions. When that same nurse came in the thrid time my Mother told her to get out, don't touch me & don't come back. I don't blame her. She did not treat her with dignity or respect, Which is something you pride yourselves on. Her roommate is not very commutative during the day but talks a lot at night. That's not so bad, but when the staff comes in to bathe her every morning this lady cries out in pain & moans continuously. Mom says they are ruff with her. This bothers and concerns me because if they have to bathe my Mom then are they going to be ruff with her too. Right now she's handling her own bathing or has been. Now that she's got a broken arm she's going to need more help. I'm there just about every day but when I go back to Oklahoma I don't want to have to worry continuously about Mom's care & happiness. I was so proud of Brighten Gardens when we found it & even more pleased that there was a vaccancy. I think Mom's definitely in the right facility, we just need to tweak a few things to rreally make it home for her. I thank you in advance for your attention to these matters. Your staff is the nicest of any place I've ever been to me & to Mom as far as I can tell. I just want to know it's the same way when I'm not around. I want to believe it is because they genuinely seem to care about Mom.

It has been a good experience for my loved one here at this community. She has adjusted well to it, and so far it seems like she like it. We know she is safe and being cared for very well here. It is a lovely community with kind people. This is a very nice place to live.

During the month he was there the people were kind and I would recommend them. Like most places they are understaffed. The day my dad died I received to calls with voicemail to my cell phone. I had my home phone listed on the emergency contact list and it was not called that day. I wish they had looked at the sheet correctly or attempted a point of contact so I could have been there with my dad. I was a little upset that they got it wrong. There was one woman who often bathed him and he told me she was always exceptionally gentle. After he passed the staff were all very kind, helpful and supportive. At first they were not providing the care that was contracted. After speaking with them about what is contracted they started doing what we agreed to. I say that you must be involved with your loved one in their community.

Sunrise of Chandler was a beautiful senior living community, unfortunately it did not work out as we had planned. My father in law did not have the funds to live there. I just want to say that [Removed] is one of the most caring and straight forward person we have met on this journey with senior care. He is one of the nicest, honest, and helpful person and he helped us tremendously. You made a really wise decision when you hired him as Executive Director, he is wonderful. I only wish 1/10 of the people we have encountered on this journey could be as great and honest as him. Sunrise of Chandler because of this director and his caring and honesty will forever be remembered.

The staff that offered the tour of Sunrise of Chesterfield were very friendly and courteous. They took the time to address all of my concerns and were very helpful in our search. The community was not as updated as others that I visited in the area.

[Removed] was very accessible and helpful during the sale/contracting process. The Bluemont nurse was able to travel to Maryland to interview the new resident and that was very helpful. It took a while to get everything lined up for move in , dealing with the forms and the insurance company was a bit tedious--not the fault of Bluemont. The appartment was ready on time with a few adjustments needed. The resident was very disappointed in the food but that is typical of most institutions. We managed to get the month of August discount which was helpful

Nice but too many elderly sitting and waiting for help after lunch. Got me a little spooked.

I had a nice tour at this community. The staff was very nice and friendly. They did have alot of activities that would be available if we would had moved into this location. The value was acceptable for the care, but we found a nice place closer to home. We would over all recommend this community to other family members for the care that they could offer.
