Sunrise Senior Living

Our family had an in person tour with Sunrise at Bon Air and just based on the tour experience it looks like it has gone downhill.

My loved one is currently a resident at Sunrise of Huntington Common. Overall, things at this facility have been good for him. The cleanliness and friendliness are great. The staff and activities are good. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

We picked this community, because it was recommend by [name removed] an RN. It's not a very active community. They can improve by, a survey for both asst living and independent members. Visit several times during different shifts.

Nursing staff is decent. Some of the aides are very good. Very short staffed. Very expensive for what you get. Food is mediocre. Response time is slow because of poor staffing. Gets a shower once a week. I know you don't bathe elderly every day but once a week is absurd. Cleanliness of my loved one's room, especially bathroom is not the the best. We picked this community, because we were advised by A Place for Mom that this place was in our price point and good.. We needed to get my loved one somewhere quickly.

My mother was a resident at Sunrise of Leawood. Overall, the facility was good and was what we needed, especially in the end days. The executive staff was very responsive and friendly. There was only one nurse that was not helpful and made my mom's last days very stressful. By the 4th complaint from my dad to the head nurse, we finally got this person removed from her service, but getting to that point was very rough.

Sunrise of Lafayette Hill is a medium sized Assisted Living facility. The atmosphere is friendly between residents and between staff and residents. They provide a cozy environment for senior living. They are making a real effort to do improvements on a timely manner. The staff and most residents are friendly and accommodating. The food is good, but they could improve on the overall dining experience.

We toured Sunrise of Scottsdale, their Memory Care Unit was on the second floor. Also, there was no green or grassy area for residents. They did have a patio, but it was concrete. Also, the smell in the Memory Care was awful. It was like they were using a dirty sponge on all the surfaces and it just kind of gave off a dirty vibe.

We have had a couple of incidents with not getting medications or responding to call alert on several occasions. Several occasions, whereas the laundry wasn't done on a weekly basis. Overall, my Mother-in-law is getting accustomed to living in an assisted living environment. I am pretty sure that no place is perfect. They are making positive changes in rectifying some of the concerning areas.

I think it's a very welcoming place. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and kind. But the care is a bit lacking. For instance, if my loved one rings his call pendant, it's a long time before somebody comes, which is not acceptable. That's my main problem. The common areas are very clean, although his room less so. There is inconsistency in when they come to clean his room and do laundry. It gets done, but there's no clear pattern to it. They are currently In the process of finding a new Executive Director. The interim Executive Director is very nice, but I think he's not running the place the way a full time Executive Director would. I think that contributes to some of the issues we're seeing. The food is just okay. Otherwise, everything is lovely. There seems to be a lot of activities going on. And the staff really is terrific. I never see anybody who isn't smiling and kind and nice. They're just really great people.

Our family had an in person tour with Sunrise of Lower Makefield and the staff we had met with were very friendly, but the facility itself was quite older and the rooms we were shown, were very small rooms.

I toured this facility. Every room that they showed me/had available overlooked a sea of dumpsters. When I arrived for my scheduled tour I was told that my tour guide was gone that day and I toured with the chef instead.. The facility was clean and nicely decorated. It did seem to be a little bit dark on the inside. The size of the facility didn't seem like a good fit for my loved one. Also, the cost was higher than several other places in our area and the add on's were expensive.

It's a very bright and happy place. My father seems to be enjoying Sunrise of Newton now. He's on the memory loss floor which was a huge adjustment at first. He rarely spends time in his room now which is so wonderful to hear. My only complaint at the moment is my father runs out of toilet paper quite often.

I toured this community and didn't care for it. The Assisted Living unit is upstairs and very bright and open. However, the Memory Care unit is in the basement. It only had partial light and felt very crowded and depressing. The staff was very nice and I was impressed with the Administration in the Memory Care unit. The environment and overall unit itself just wasn't what we were looking for.

Sunrise of Mission Viejo was just average. They had things like if you needed a shower more than once a week you had to pay extra. It was already pretty pricey to begin with, so I just think the quality and services provided for the money would not have matched our needs.

The care is very good. My biggest frustration is that whenever I have questions or need to know something, I find if very difficult to get a hold of anyone. If I call and leave a message or email them, I never get a response. They need to have more interactive activities and encourage the residents to get to know one another.

Sunrise of Wayne was a great tour too - animal-friendly and pleasant staff.

We toured with Sunrise of Overland Park and I just thought the facility was way too big for my loved one. WE were walking around and there were just so many people out and about and I knew she would not like that. I also did not think she would get the personalized care that she needed.
