Our tour experience with Sunrise of Gurnee was neutral. Is is an average facility and they gave us an average tour. Nothing else really to note.

Our family had an in person tour experience with Sunrise of Sandy and overall we thought the tour experience was good

My step dad didn't like the assigned seating in the dining area and thought it was too small. He also thought there were too many women overall, but he pretty much complains about everything. Personally, I thought that Sunrise of Reston Town Center was a very warm and friendly place to be.

The facility is new and common areas are lovely. But I was not happy with the level of service my mother received at Sunrise of Huntington. While she was a resident there, one of her hearing aids was lost and never recovered. We had to pay $[removed]for a one-time replacement (with insurance) and lived in constant fear of losing another. Nearly all of my mother's clothing went missing or was apparently damaged in the laundering process. Some items were shrunk or discolored because they were washed in bulk instead of by color. I would often visit my mother and find her dressed in someone else's clothing. Even her sneakers were mismatched. She would be wearing one sneaker that was too small and another too large. We never found her matching pair. My mother's eyeglasses also went missing and were never recovered. All of her bathroom items were often strewn about and never placed back on her shelf or kept in order. Her belongings were often mixed with those belonging to her roommate. My mother felt she was handled roughly during showering. She felt the aides were rushing and pushing her if she was not moving quickly enough. I did not witness this, I am simply conveying my mother's comments. I was told by management that her laundry would be done separately and that I would not need to worry about misplaced items. Despite all of her belongings being labeled, everything was misplaced at one time or another. Even her bedding and towels went missing. I was also mislead about price increases. Within the first year of my mother's residence, there was an unexpected rate increase that would have gone into effect well above what I was told to expect when we signed on. The director, sales staff and concierge were all very nice, and I am sure they tried their best. Many of the aides often appeared unhappy or uninterested in what they were doing or attending to residents. I repeatedly voiced my concerns and was assured that steps were being taken to correct issues. But in the end, the conditions proved unbearable for me, and I moved my mother to a new facility in Florida where she is closer to me and now has her own private room with all amenities for half the cost. While there may still be issues with missing items, the staff appears happier in their roles and much more attentive to my mother.

Our family had an in person tour with Sunrise of Lynnfield, and it was a god overall experience but it was just not going to be the best fitting community for our loved one.

Staff is friendly and fun. There sometimes seems to be a disconnect in communication about health and well being. The cost is pretty steep but mama is happy so that matters. The billing is horrible. I was charged a late fee and I don't understand the two extra charges making a [fee removed] difference in the cost. Also, they did not communicate that the pharmacy would bill us separately. Mama is happy so it okay

Activities are fantastic at sunrise in Hermosa. The problem is with the dining room. Food that is over cooked and dried out. People always checking clean glasses for pulp left or lipstick that was not cleaned off of the glass. It's a shame that such a nice facility has most people looking at coffee cups, water glasses and silverware before use. The menu is packed with several items that are not available. As an example, the Menu almost always has fresh baked cookies as a dessert option. Rarely are they available. It's a wise decision to ask staff before you order if the food is tender. Chicken might have been cooked for an extra 20-35 minutes and is bone dry. Brisket cuts or pork cuts can be almost too tough to chew. I encourage anyone looking to reserve a room in any facility to ask to be seated in the dining room for a random, unscheduled meal to be an observer. How are the residents treated? Do residents inspect all dishes for cleanliness?

Berry good place overall it’s a good place to be in a situation like like mine I can’t say enough good things about this place It’s ain a great place and is clean place where the residents live needs more parking

I toured Sunrise of Mt Vernon during my search for an Assisted Living facility for my loved one. This facility was okay. The cleanliness and friendliness were good. The atmosphere and our tour guide were good, also.

My loved one was a resident at Sunrise of Bloomfield Hills and her experience at this facility was okay. The cleaning/housekeeping of her apartment wasn't great. The turnover was hard to manage, but the staff was normally nice. My loved one did complain a lot about the lack of activities. Lots of turnover here also. Bingo isn't very exciting!

The friendliness of the staff does vary. Some are friendly; some can't manage a smile. Many (not all) have an attitude like they are doing you a favor to do the job that is expected of them. Very disappointing. Not responsive on a timely basis. This is probably due, at least in part, to being understaffed. Seemingly untrained staff providing services. (Ie, Medication distribution). Some days are better than other days. Food preparation is poor. Quantity is good. Cannot attend the activities, so therefore I will not rate. I expect a better response for the amount I pay for extra services (eg, assisted living, distribution of medications). Must be your own advocate.

I was not impressed with Sunrise. There would be staff that got my loved one confused, with other residents when the family would check on our loved one. There were times that the staff would lock our loved one in their room. Then the staff claims that someone must have accidently locked the door. The memory care floor seemed to be dingy. There are three floors of the community. The assisted living floors might be different than the memory care area that

The tour of Sunrise was nice along with the people and community. The community felt somewhat too wealthy for my loved one's taste and experience. Their Kitchen Manager was available to show us the place.

My loved one was a resident at Sunrise of West Bloomfield. They talked a great talk, but that's all it was. We had a Care Meeting about issues that we were having and nothing changed. The wait time is ridiculous. There was no hair washing for 2 weeks, until I did it myself. No feet washing. The monthly cost for total care is very high. Overall, unacceptable care. They document their care. My loved one told me several times, I don't care what they document , it's not all true. I would not recommend this facility to family and friends.

The laundry seems to be a problem there, as well as keeping the patients room and bathroom clean.

The positive: They are all very friendly. The apartments are a nice size and they repainted and put in new flooring prior to my loved one moving in. The negative: lack of emergency response team. No AEDs. I had to do CPR on my own father in the dining room there and no one showed up to help. I also had to send my son out to get my AED from my car! Bathrooms have bath tubs, not walk ins. No non skid strips are installed in bathtubs and they are very slippery. My mom slipped and fell and when she called for help it took security 10 minutes to arrive. There are no grab bars installed next to the toilets. This is supposed to be a senior living environment. For these things to not be in place is not good.

Our family had an in person tour with Sunrise of Arlington and the tour experience was okay but what we were wanting for our loved one, this community was just to small and no amenities.

My loved done is on the independent living side so that is really all I can comment on. It was ok initially but then the food changed and follow up with any issues is poor. ou need a tremendous amount of patience for maintenance requests.. They are short staffed. Tell future clients to make sure their apartment is totally ready before anything is moved in! Make sure someone gives orientation to family as well as client moving in. Explore available activities to see if anything interests your family member.This is important.

Nice people but follow through on issues related to care or anything has been a challenge. You must really advocate for your loved one staying there.

Sunrise of Wilmington has a new business plan where they are taking on residents with higher levels of disabilities. This is a group that is underserved outside of skilled nursing environments so that's a good thing for families that need that level of care. However Sunrise needs more staff to adequately provide care for that population because those people often require 2 aides working together to provide appropriate care. Accordingly, wait times for help with daily activities such as getting out of bed and dressing can be quite long. Also Sunrise has no shower facilities for non-ambulatory residents so they can only receive bed baths which can impact skin care long term. The staff is very friendly, caring and well intentioned but they have difficulty keeping up with the work loads, including care by aides, servers in the dining room, etc. In fairness that seems to be an industry-wide problem but it's exacerbated by the high level of care that many Sunrise residents require. I would recommend that families considering Sunrise ask careful questions regarding the care plan the facility prepares for their family member and monitor closely whether the care plan is being followed. I moved my loved one out as they could not provide the care that he needed.
