Sunrise Senior Living

The rooms at Sunrise Lincoln Park were very small, I do not think we could have fit her bed and dresser in there. It is a shared room and the other person was already all moved in and had taken up a lot of space, so it would not have been very personalized. The residents here seemed like they needed more care than my mother, so I am not sure she would have had many people to interact with. It is a smaller facility and has an Urban feel to it. It is very expensive, they brought the price down but I just did not feel comfortable leaving mom there,

The community was clean. This was more than we wanted to spend, and the Sales Manager wasn't able to answer all of our questions.

Not super happy with Sunrise at Orchard. We are being charged for 2 caregivers to help yet I've never seen 2 in our loved ones room or assisting in any way. our loved ones clothes have been marked with her name on the tags yet some of her clothes are missing and they have clothes from others now in their closet. Our loved ones glasses have been lost and were replaced with someone else's....mens glasses no less. Not very organized at times. She just received a card my sister sent postmarked on july 22....received it 3 months later yet even been visiting her quite a bit in 3 months and nobody cared to mention that she had mail. Accounting dept is a joke. I've found numerous errors in their billing which they have taken care of....I'm not an accountant yet very easy to figure out the errors. Her toilet was clogged for a week before maintenance figured that something was wrong. I'm not overly impressed

Response times four assistants tend to be longer than promised due to limited staff, prescription medication delivery is not well organized and often requires multiple responses even after a list of medication's has been approved, Apartments in general are very nice and have full kitchens, apartments are bright living Spaces nice and common areas are nice.

I wouldn't recommend the community to others. We were told that we would get services during the tour and this wasn't fulfilled. Once we arrived to move in our loved one there was no one to welcome us, or answer our questions. They stated they would provide the care, and my loved one wasn't able to move out of the bed for several days. I believe they are short staffed, as I saw three staff members when it takes 2 members to assist with some residents and lifting. The staff that were caring did a wonderful job. There was a constant issue that we had with my loved one not having the assistance in getting to the bathroom. There were times they wouldn't come get my loved one out of bed, and the Aides made this determination and not a nurse and this was concerning to the family as well. The meals were okay. The community wasn't able to follow dietary restrictions for our loved one. A resident was able to receive five glasses of orange juice and they were diabetic, this was extremely concerning.

I toured with Sunrise of Springfield and it was a beautiful facility, very clean. When I was walking around I did not see many staff out and about. The residents here looked like they needed much more care than my loved one did.

The facility is pleasant and the location is outstanding, it is quite lovely. It seems to me they have a lot of good activities. We pay an extra amount of money per day to get extra services. I have to fight like hell to get those services and that really angers me.

We toured with Sunrise of Frisco and it was a nice facility, but they could not help us at all. I told them beforehand that my loved one is diabetic and they could not handle her needs. A phone call would have been easier then wasting my time going to the facility to find that out.

My mom really likes the residents here, but overall it hasn't been a good experience. We will probably be moving her soon. Yes the facility has a lovely atmosphere and is in a nice neighborhood, but there are issues that are concerning. They are so short staffed. The staff they do have is sharing duties (housekeeping, dining, etc) just to keep things going. They never answer the phone in the kitchen for take out/delivery orders. That's a huge issue for us right now, mom is quarantined and cannot leave her room. We've tried to call and order food several times and get no answer. I finally called the main facility phone number and asked why no one has checked on her or brought her food. Their response was that they can't go into her apartment while she's quarantined. I understand that, but she still has to eat and should be checked on, why aren't they at least leaving food outside of her door for her? There's no kitchen in the resident units, so it's not like she could make her own. Not to mention, the food is horrendous. So many of the other residents have said that also. When my sister brought her back from the ER, she was told that they were in the middle of dining and couldn't clear an elevator for her. She's sick, but had to wait in the car until dining was complete and all residents had left the dining area before she could get to her room. I would not recommend them to family and friends.

I would recommend you go someplace else for a community. The times I have visited my loved one the oxygen has run out because the battery pack has run down. This is a big concern for the family for our loved one. The lift isn't be used from what the family can tell. My loved one isn't being changed enough. The call button response time by the staff is very slow. There are times where we have had to assist my loved one to get the assistance they needed and this is after an hour of waiting after pressing the call button. The oxygen tube has been tied in a knot when we visited our loved one. I have reached out to the management a few times and the management team and I haven't received a call or email back. The window sills are dirty, the carpet hadn't been vacuumed by the staff. They didn't have a cleaning crew to clean the main areas and the residents rooms. There was a wash rag that was left in the bathroom that was black, and the staff didn't seem to take this wash rag out of the bathroom to clean it. The staff seem to leave my loved one in their room and not help with even turning the tv on, or encouraging my loved one to join activities.

I toured this facility and was not impressed. It just seemed very dark and dated. The atmosphere felt kind of depressing.

If your loved one has any type of special diet, they are not very good with those. They are not good with chronic issues or medications that go along with that. It is very difficult to get them to give the correct medications. If you are healthy I think the value is there, but if you have any chronic illnesses it is not the place. It looks nice and my loved one had a nice room, they just could not accommodate what he needed. I would tell others to be very careful and make sure that they are getting the right medications if they are here. They would not let me monitor or give him the correct medications.

Sunrise of New City is a nice place, but I am very disappointed. We were promised the world but once we got here and settled in those promises that were made in the beginning were not kept. The activities director quit, the case manager quit, and they were very short staffed due to all of the staff turnover. The staff who were here were doing other peoples jobs. Communication was lacking as well. It is very expensive and we were not getting the services that were promised.

This facility appears very homey. The executive director is nice and helpful. My loved one did not settle in here well and they eventually asked me to move her. I guess I would say that they could have been more explicit and transparent about the level of care they are able to provide

I would not recommend Sunrise of Webster Groves. There was inconsistent care and I don't know if it's because of the times, but they seem to have a revolving door policy that was directly impacting everything going on there.

The general areas are clean, and there's no smell when you walk in like you might find at most nursing homes. My loved one's room could be kept better, but she is well looked after and getting the proper attention, which is the most important thing. The staff have been very friendly and accommodating. She's happy with the meals, and the dining room is always nice and clean and all set up. They seem to have good activities. I would recommend it 100%.

The building used to be a hotel that was later converted to senior living. And even as senior living, it still seemed like a hotel, which I did not care for. I just didn’t get the homey vibe I was looking for.

They are shaky financially and do not treat departing residents fairly [name removed] liked it there very much, but could no longer live alone after 3 trips to the hospital/rehab, we had to make a hasty change to a group home. We gave them just short of 30 days notice after incident #2, but they continued to do the ACH pull after the 30 days and have refused to give us our money back - even though it was an emergency move and they had adequate notice. We also paid about [removed] up front for guaranteed monthly rate. The contract said it was refundable at managements discretion. [name removed] lived there 9 months and there were no rate increases during that time, yet they refused to give us any of that money back either. In addition, they keep billing us for additional services after he left. We have no idea what that is all about. We are very disappointed in how that was all handled.

The majority of the staff is very friendly and loving. As far as activities, my aunt complains that she's bored a lot. I think it was probably due to pandemic and they didn't have a lot of ways to keep people active during that time. Dining is set up very nice, they always have glassware and nice table cloths. Though my aunt is not always pleased with the food. I also don't feel like they adequately adjusted meals for her medical needs. She has diabetes/high blood pressure and she is sometimes served things she ideally shouldn't have. In terms of care, I'm often very disappointed with the medical care she receives. For cost, the biggest thing is that our cost was underquoted and it ended up being much more.

Our family had an in person tour and we just did not get the best feeling, it was not very clean, it was old and needed updating.
