Sunrise Senior Living

This is one that we are considering. Only visited once so I wil have to go again but I have visited 7 communities and this is one of the top 2. Unfortunately my top pick is not represented by A Place For Mom so I cannot list my comments on that one. Stratford was nice, clean, active, affordable.

A very thorough personal tour. It was clean. Everyone was friendly and nice. Looks like a very comfortable home for mom.

Sunrise was clean and many amenities. Staff were friendly. Pricing was varied due to what the patients needs are and preferences. Need to supply your own furnishings.

I liked the therapy animals on each floor. Warm temp, residents out, did not like ala cart pricing. Hard to budget

Nice facility. The staff are all polite. The hallways are wide, but the ceilings seem low. They can provide 2 person assistance & a Hoyer lift. They can do respite as well.

Deposit paid on [date removed] for occupancy, need to find the mover that one of the facilities gave me need 2 pieces of furniture from her home moved to Sunrise. UPDATE [date removed] We have been pretty happy at Sunrise, while no place is like home for my mom. This has been comfortable for her. One pretty major incident with a nurse not responding to my request for a doctor and some testing for her that lead to kidney failure and delayed hospitalization. She lectured me on what insurance would and would not cover, I did not care I knew my mom was sick! I had to meet the doctor on his rounds to talk to him and explain my mom's problem to get help which was delayed. By then she was in ESRD! Sad to say that she is running low on funding and time to start making some changes, I wish I didn't have to relocate her but there are sadly no options at Sunrise for her financially. So much money has been spent here our hope was for her to end life here without any other changes. I just hate to have to change her environment. She knows the staff when she is aware has made some good friends. I am comfortable most of the time with the care she receives. Moving her will be rough on me as well as this has taken such a toll on me, my health and home life.

Nice place with good services and community feel. Residents looked happy and healthy. Very pet friendly, have a community dog. But, their pricing for the same services and similar rooms are different per community.

I really liked Sunrise. It's a very nice place and was clean and well appointed. The smells coming from the kitchen/dining areas were great! Their approach to have "care managers" seems to be thorough and caring. The staff that I met while there were very knowledgeable and kind. It's on the higher side, cost-wise, but appears to be a good value.

Facility looks nice. Would prefer the deluxe studio. Plenty of activities. Loved that the tour guide new the paitience names as well as the staff members we encountered.

Grounds were appealing. Tour inspired confidence in facility mission to facilitate socializing.

Great facility! The people that work there genuinely care for the residents! Positive environment! Plenty of activities to do. They keep the rooms and common areas very tidy. They have special occasion dinners, in which you can join your family member. They also have a large room for parties that you can reserve for your loved one, that is free. The only issues I see are the meals for Assisted Living. I have heard a lot of complaints from my family member not liking the dinner food in the last year or so. The deserts are fantastic, though.

Very professional tour by [name removed]. Very nice place. Good layouts for apts - not all the same. Flexibility with meal plan. Lots of activities. This is one of two places we are considering.

Very welcoming community. I enjoyed the tour but the home is under construction so difficult to tell what it will be like when finished. Small group of people which makes for an intimate setting.

My parents, 96 and 93, love living there except for one thing- the food. When they first moved in last year it was good, but since then, it has gone steadily downhill, to the point where they no longer look forward to eating meals there. I don't know why Sunrise can't get it together and provide decent meals. Healthy food is the most important and basic component of a healthy lifestyle, especially for older people. Quite often, my parents will have my sister (who lives nearby) bring them food from a restaurant, or take them out to eat. This adds a lot of expense to an already expensive situation. I just want to let people know that this is a problem now at Huntcliff Summit, even though it wasn't before. We are very concerned and frustrated. I live far away and can only look on from a distance as my parents tell me that they get indigestion from almost every meal. They and many others have complained but the food situation is not improving at all.

I was impressed with this facility. Lovely setting, friendly people. The director was playing cards with a resident - teaching her a new game. It is likely we will need for my sister to "graduate" to full memory care and that part of the facility is separate and secured. Did not tour that part of Sunrise.

Not a bad place. If feels a little cramped, but nice people.

This community very nice, but is not for advanced dementia residents. [Name removed] was straight forward after hearing our situation. You should not recommend this community to anyone whose family member has advanced dementia. They are not set up for behavioral or advanced medical needs.

The staff was really friendly and the room they showed me was beautiful and bright. My concern here was the stairs - which was a beautiful staircase in the foyer - and just picturing my dad falling down them. I'm sure they have precautions for that type of thing, but that was my main concern. Otherwise very nice small intimate setting.
