Sunrise Senior Living

Up until Covid hit, we were pretty happy with it. But they have workers that go from facility to facility, and they ended up with Covid in the building in staff members as well as residents. So there were lockdowns and isolation. A lot of their perks and things they used to let the residents do were discontinued, with cause. They used to have activities where they would take them on a bus and go shopping or get something to eat. They had group activities like bingo, exercises, crafts, which are a big thing for my family member. She was even teaching a crafting class once a week. All that stopped once Covid hit, and she was upset because she was still paying a high amount and not getting anything in return, in her opinion. That was one of her main complaints and reasons for moving. She only has a set amount, so I wanted her money to last her longer. The other thing was I wanted to get her out of an area that was actively battling the virus.

We are pleased with the cleanliness of the community, and we are satisfied so far.

We really liked everything about Sunrise of Wilmington, we liked that they told us if our loved one needs outside services they would get the same workers every single time. However, the price was just to high for us especially given our loved ones were at level 3 care.

The community seemed to nickel and dime me due to the care being charged for everything my loved one needed. I would tell others that it is a good place for care for you loved one. The communication was good between the staff and me.

We did a virtual tour with Sunrise which is the only reason I gave them a 4 just due to those limitations. They did a great job and were good with their follow up with us. They seemed genuinely interested in my mother and it was a good experience.

We were rather pleased with the community, what we really liked about the place was that when you would call you would immediately get to speak with someone you never had to wait for them to return calls. If you needed to check in with your loved one but it was not a medical question you could speak with the coordinator and they would get you to the right person. The activities which are very important to us were great, at times he would be in the big room interacting with other residents singing karaoke. They were very accommodating with our family and worked so nicely with us when he would have to do testing for covid. By the time our loved one moved in everyone had already been vaccinated which made us feel safe and reassured.

We chose Sunrise of new City because I had a number of people recommend it to us and it was in a convenient location for our family. The room sizes are really nice. According to my dad it is very seldom that the meals are served hot. But overall I would recommend them .

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The communication with the staff is very good, you seem like you have to be the one that reaches out. There is not a lot of selection when it comes to the food. Sometimes the quality isn't that great and the food is bland in taste. There isn't a lot of fresh fruit or veggies. This might be because of the pandemic.

We love Sunrise community, we think it has been great and the staff members have all been very friendly. The director knows us, and is always keeping us informed. There were many reasons we chose this community and the price was one of the biggest reasons. Also, it is very close to our family, just a couple minutes drive time and 10 minutes walking. It is in a residential area, which is super nice. Our loved ones apartment is amazing, the staff treat him very well as well as the other residents. Our experience has just been great, our only issue is still the covid restrictions. Everyone who works there and everyone who lives there has been fully vaccinated so we are not sure why the residents are still restricted.

We liked Sunrise accommodations, the shower entry was easy. In addition, we liked that the staff had medical background and was trained to monitor the food intake of the residents-that is, who is eating, who is not, change in food intake, etc. The facility was well maintained and attractive. We thought our parents would enjoy the accommodations to sit outside-covered porches.

The community takes great care of my loved one. The staff is very nice and great to work with. The food was recently moved to the dining room; most meals are still being delivered to the rooms of the residents. Activities are just starting back up. They have bingo as one of the activities and more for the resident to choose from. It is very expensive in my opinion.

We chose Sunrise because they had the space we were looking for and it was close by to family and they also knew some other people who were here. It is a smaller facility as well which is what they were wanting. My mom says that the food is seasoned too much and there is not enough vegetables served. They are allowing families to go into your loved ones rooms as long as you are vaccinated. Overall it has been good and I would recommend them.

[name removed] was a pleasure to work with. We did a few virtual reviews as well as a conference call review. I was not able to truly tour the facility in person, but [name removed] provided much information via the phone calls, as well as the Virtual review. The place was very nice and met all our required needs. I do see that there is an equal division among the Apartments: Assisted/Memory care/short term stays, etc., so that was a not exactly what we needed. We were looking for a high percentage of Senior Living (not as much focus on the assisted). So no fault of Sunrise at all and we will keep them in mind if our needs were to change.

Went on a tour last Friday. Liked what I saw and am considering this as an option.

Another beautiful property. Very pricey.

We chose Sunrise on Vernier because I liked the staff members, I liked it was a national chain which gave it an extra oversight, and the residents here seemed to be well cared for when we did our tour. My only complaint is that I would like some more communication especially with covid going on and not being able to go inside the facility. They seem to be taking the covid protocols super serious which is great for comfort, but I would like to see her more. We do facetime and we have done some window visits but that can be confusing, so I would love to see her in person. Overall I would recommend.

We chose Lakewood Estates because of the location and they did have all things included such as meals, weekly room cleanings, etc. and the whole package was better than what we were able to find elsewhere. The apartment sizes here were great. They were not big fans of the taste of the food, but I think the facility had a lot going for them we just didn't get to experience it all due to covid. I would definitely recommend them.

We do think they were very flexible and really worked hard to ensure our loved ones needs were met with we greatly appreciated. Our loved one was a difficult patent but they had a lot of patience with her and they truly went above and beyond what we were expecting. Our loved one is a picky eater so she was not really happy with the meals they served.

We chose Sugar Valley Estates because the staff was very caring, friendly, and helpful, they had a lot of offer as well, and it was a newer facility so everything was move in ready. I would tell others just to know that it is independent living only, there is no assistance. It is a great facility and I would recommend them to others looking.

We toured this community and liked it a lot. The tour was good and they gave us lots of info. The community is a very nice facility and the staff was very nice
