too urban for my mom and the elevators had issues during the visit - had to use the stairs

Very friendly. Room sizes were very nice and it looked pretty homey. The staff were welcoming and overall we had a very positive experience. They even adopted a dog that came to greet us.

My loved one has been at Brighton Gardens for 2 months. She has told me that the food is not as good as where she was before this move. She would like to have an activity added that was her favorite at a different Sunrise. It met every AM after breakfast with an activity person. The discussions were about current events & stimulating. She really misses this! She has not told me about many activities she attends, but she must be at some of them. I would like to know if the family or POA over medical gets called 1X a month with updates? I was told it would happen at the previous place, but it did not. Is this a practice you do?

The move in process was not at all smooth. I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the apartment we moved my Mother into. After pointing out the deficiencies in cleaning, they were quick to respond and resolve the issue. It was particularly disappointing that the apartment was not spotless because we actually paid deposits and rent 10 days prior to moving her in. Now that my Mother is in, things have drastically improved and she is very happy at Sunrise Villa. I think we were moving her in during a rough transition time for the staff and that may have contributed to the rough start. My Mother is happy with the food and the staff is very kind and respectful. She loves all of the activities and has made friends. The complex is very well maintained and clean. All of the residents are friendly and have been welcoming to my Mother. My famil and I are happy with Sunrise and our choice to move here there.

My father has dementia and has not spoken for many years. This makes communicating with him very difficult. The staff has taken good care of my dad even with this problem. The staff is very helpful, friendly and kind. I would have no problem living there myself if I ever am in my father’s predicament. I would recommend Sunrise Northville to my friends and family.

Sunrise accepted Mom in a warm manner. The caregivers are respectful, caring and get to know Mom in every way possible. They notice when something is off in her actions or attitude and look for what might be causing it. And then, when possible, they make it better. The residents are also friendly; they say hello and have invited Mom into many of the activities. We are relieved and happy that we were able to move mom into such a positive atmosphere.

Very nice place.Felt very comfortable there. [Name removed] was excellent. As with all these places money will be a challenge. We could probably handle one of us there but not 2. [Name removed] made suggested that we should go as long as we could where we are noe before moving. Still want to look around though

Had a very nice tour with a very helpfull and informative [name removed]. She took us and showed us different rooms, all the facilites and activities that are available to residents. Prices are very affordable compared to others we looked at and researched on line. would definetly recommend a visit and tour.

The community is very nice, my tour was very professional, the staff and residents looked happy, I liked the layout of the place and the grounds. The rooms were fair sized, not the biggest I have seen. The reason it has 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is very expensive.

It was a nice place but way too big for mom. It had 3 floors and she would likely feel lost.

Nice facility, however, my in-laws are looking for a 2-bedroom apartment. None were constructed here.

Facility was very grand. I believe it could house 80 residents, but my number maybe off. When I came in the front door, there was a pianist leading about 25 residents in singing carols in a large community space, and she informed me she was there twice a month. Spent first 10 minutes filling in the coordinator on my father's condition. She assured me that there was nothing of concern that they wouldn't be able to address and that there were people in the residence similar to him that were already being taken care of and that a resident who was bed bound was not a problem for their staff. She then told me that they also had regular housekeeping, laundry facilities for linens and residents' clothing, they had a beauty shop for hair and nails that was a separate charge, they used Doctors Making House Calls for doctors and podiatrists as a separate charge, that any Hospice services were welcome as needed, that there was a back up generator -- although there might not be electricity to resident bedrooms, as common areas and medical equipment would be the priority , that the three-story structure has a elevator, that they offered to supply articles similar to Depends for a separate charge or a resident's family could supply them, and that we could view a one-bedroom with a den. I asked if I could visit my father at any time of day or night, and she said yes. I asked the price for a resident who was in the one-bedroom and was bed bound. It was over $10,000 per month. I said that was a lot of money. We looked at a one-bedroom model. It was beautiful and very large with a room large enough for a king-sized bed as well as another large space set up as a living room. The bathroom was large and well-laid out with a walk-in shower. She told me all items in the room would need to be supplied by the resident, including the bed. I did notice a slight odor as I came in the front door, but nothing offensive.

This facility is nice and may work for mom. The rooms are fairly close to the elevators and dining area. Bathrooms are spartan.

My sister-in-law, for whom I have POA for personal care, needed assisted living services earlier this year. There was no such accommodation in Durham Region where she lived previously. Clearly, more of this level of care is needed for those who are not completely independent and yet not needing the services of a long term care facility. Sadly, the cost of care at Sunrise is prohibitive for many. I, myself, could not afford to live there. We recently held a family gathering in the Activity Room on the 2nd floor and the staff were very welcoming, gracious and accommodating in giving us the use of the room, providing and setting up tables and chairs, providing linens etc.. My sister-in-law has only one complaint - the quality of food served in the dining room is "uneven" at best. When visiting her, we ourselves have also experienced inconsistency in the quality of meals provided. Considering the cost of living there, this is disappointing. Otherwise, she is happy at Sunrise and is quite bonded with one particular caregiver. Sunrise provides good but high cost assisted living services for those who can afford it. We need more of this level of care at more affordable prices.
