Sunrise Senior Living

I needed to find a place for my 95 yr old mother. She lived alone and had caregivers several hours a day but that wasn't giving her the social interaction she needed. Also, her meds weren't always administered properly and the caregivers changed too often. I looked at communities and private homes and Sunrise just fit the bill. Mom is settled and enjoys 3 meals a day, meds are scheduled she and loves Bingo!

Sunrise of Paramus would get a 6 on friendliness if I could. Because my dad has insurance and it covers it we may have a different perspective on value so for us it is really good. It's been wonderful at this facility. Margaret, Amy, and Patty have been so helpful and wonderful. Margaret really helped mom feel comfortable with the whole process. Overall it has been a very nice experience.

Sunrise of Paramus, NJ is great. The facility is beautiful. And the staff could not be more friendly or helpful! Thank you for helping make this move easier!

Everyone seems really great at Highland Trail. It seem like a great value. They have movie nights and other activities. If someone needs a little bit of assistance but not full on assisted living this is the perfect place. This facility is a concentration of people in the same boat. They hire independent caregivers in 15 minute increments to come give assistance to the residents. I think that is just a great thing. The overall mood of the residents seems healthy and happier at this facility.

The friendliness is a 5+ at Sunrise of Metairie. The staff were wonderful there. They were very responsive. It was a really homey atmosphere. Mom moved into the facility on a Thursday evening and Saturday she passed away. But she had a really good day there on Friday. They had birthday party for several of the residents. The staff included mom and made her feel very welcome. She played games. She said the food was excellent. When were there visiting the residents seemed very happy. They had ice cream socials and many activities. I was really happy with this facility. I am glad mom could be there even if it was only for a short time.

So far we have been very pleased with them. We haven't had any complaints or concerns. They were a little more expensive than other places we looked at. Maybe 10-20% more. The food here though, she says is better than the last place she lived.

My mother has been living at The Sunrise of West Essex for about 5 weeks. The staff is very friendly and personable and well-trained. My mother loves the social interaction which keeps her active throughout the day. She is making friends as time goes by. The care for her level has been very good. The food is also very good with choices and options offered. Her medical management needed to be worked out and the nurses have been very professional and helpful with everything. Our family and all the grandchildren have been warmly welcomed into this community which has helped with this tough decision. The house provides comfortable spaces for gatherings with visitors. It is a charming house. My mother is very comfortable and well taken care of. She is adjusting to this significant life change positively with the support of everyone there.

I toured quite a few places and found Belmont Village to be the most friendly and the most helpful. Everything is there, all the services are there, you don't have to go anywhere. Overall the care has been outstanding. They are constantly trying to help my loved one out even though she is still fairly independent. I am very impressed.

They are amazing. The thing that impresses me the most is that the people who work there have been there forever. They make it a point to know who you are and address you by your first name. It's family. I want to live there. They are amazing. It is definitely the standard by which all facilities should strive for.

Our experience with Bedford Court has been a very good one, so far! I really can't think of anything to complain about! The staff is friendly and helpful, and I appreciate the extra effort they put into helping introduce new residents to the community. They'll make sure your loved one sits with some friendly people for meals. They also do a very good job with the food!

The staff are wonderful at Sunrise of Schamburg. He has had some trouble dressing and I'm not sure if the staff have followed through with helping on that. I like everything at this facility so far. I am really happy with things here.

I researched and visited several places before selecting Sunrise at Jackson. The overall deciding factor was the wonderful, caring staff. The residents there are treated like family, with loving, kind and genuine caring. The food and menu is excellent, the care team terrific. My father was having a difficult time with dealing with his loss of independence, but has acclimated beautifully. He actually has said he wished he did this sooner, and he really likes it there. I cannot express how good it feels to know that he is happy, well taken care of, and thriving.

Putting my parents into senior living was the most agonizing and concerning decision and process I have ever experienced. I toured multiple facilities and the moment I walked into Sugar Valley Estates and met with "John" I knew I had found the new "home" away from "home" for my parents. When I returned with my father and we spent additional time touring the beautiful, clean and bright facility, meeting the staff and enjoying the complimentary lunch, the peace of mind and comfort of knowing this would be "the one" was surmountable. My parents have been living there for almost 7 weeks and have adjusted well, have been cared for and nurtured and are complimentary of all the staff. The on-site options for transportation, medical and non-medical assistance has provided such peace of mind and help for us to meet the continuous and changing needs my parents experience. It's comforting knowing we have such a positive and collaborative relationship with Sugar Valley Estates in the shared caregiving for my elderly parents. Thank you all and especially you John for being the instrumental force in making everything come together, you're an angel to us!

He seems to be happy at Sunrise of Alexandria. I'm very happy with everyone there. In comparison to our retirement community that we live in ourselves I think the value is really good. My children go to visit him there and they seem to think it is a good facility. So far so good here.

Nice homey atmosphere. Very friendly staff. They are beautiful apartments, pet friendly and great food!

The only thing I can go by is what my mother tells me and she loves it there and says she would recommend it. The only thing she has a problem with is the wait time with the food. She says it takes a while to get served.

My mother-in-law is thriving in Sunrise/Arlington. The staff is friendly and supportive, and there are many activities. The Victorian building has the feeling of a real home -- only 50-60 residents. Rooms are bright and clean, and it is easy to access. There is tailored care, and the manager (Nate) is very helpful in walking through the process.

My family toured several facilities in our search for the best place to meet all the requirements for our family member and were very impressed with Sunrise in Fleetwood. The genuine kindness and great attitude of everyone we met left us feeling that Karen would be happy in their care. Cathe Provino was incredibly sensitive and is a remarkable listener. She "got" where Karen was coming from and was able to appease any trepidation Karen was feeling. While head of Sales, we never felt we were being "sold". Sunrise, their staff and the facility sells itself. Best of all, Karen can't wait to move in!

Changing living quarters is often a hard transition for seniors. It is one reason why I waited until my 94-year-old father-in-law lived at Sunrise for 6 months before writing a review. Here is my assessment: Location – Sunrise of Frederick is tucked away just off Rte. 15, which was convenient for me to drop in when I run errands. For out- of-town family and friends, the location makes it easier to find Sunrise. It is also near a couple of hotels, shopping and restaurants. Dining Services - Food service is excellent at Sunrise. Not only does the food taste good but it is prepared in healthy ways, which does not necessarily go hand in hand. Residents choose their meal from a menu, which changes daily. The menu contains appetizer, entrée and dessert choices. And if nothing looks appealing, the chef will make one of the old standbys such as grilled cheese, hot dogs, and eggs. A month before my father- in- law moved in, I asked 8 random residents what they thought of the food. I was shocked that not one of them complained. All raved about the meals as does my father-in-law. Activities – I saw online that one critic complained that some of them were kind of lame. Okay, obviously, this person is not yet 50 and does not have much senior experience. As we age, we get less and less interested in participating in strenuous activity much less watching others doing it. I found each activity on Sunrise’s calendar, no matter how simple, to show a great deal of thought in giving the residents a reason for moving, for learning new things, and for providing external stimulation. In addition, seniors are given opportunities to suggest activities and to volunteer. The Sunrise calendar is always booked with fun trips (wax museum, farms, orchards, zoo, fairs, restaurants and shopping to name a few). Cleanliness No matter when I pop into Sunrise, the communal areas are clean and my father in law’s quarters spotless. Staff So far I cannot say enough good things about the staff. They have been his brain when he can’t remember stuff, have taken care of his laundry and cleaned his room, have brought him his meds faithfully each day like clockwork. They have handled my father-in-law with kindness, respect, and patience, even on days when he might not be as cheery. For our family, Sunrise has provided a safe and comfortable living space, a chance to make new friends, and activity options that far surpass what we could provide on a daily basis. Sunrise may not be for everyone, however, you should add this facility as a “must see” when you are checking out new homes for your loved one. I am sure you will not be disappointed.
