Sunrise Senior Living

Daddy and Mother are adjusting very well here. This is a new experience for both of them, and it wasn't easy at first. Mother is used to doing everything for Daddy, so asking for help has been difficult. I wanted the best for both of them. It was imperative that they live together after 76 years of marriage. I am extremely happy with the service, cleanliness, and professional dedication of the staff. They want to please in every way and are truly interested in my parents' health and proper care. Because of Dr. [Removed], I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could. I would recommend Sunrise to anyone who needs a senior living facility. I have gotten to know and enjoy the staff.

My mom was only here for about 5 weeks and they were so welcoming here everyone knew her name. They were very friendly and very caring to her. The staff had good spirits dealing with her OCD haha. She loved the food and said that it came out HOT! They kept her engaged with the activities cause they knew she liked to be involved. She got the highest level of care very efficiently. I would and have recommended this community.

This place has a very friendly atmosphere and things have been going well for my wife because they take good care of her. The staff is easy to communicate with and they answer all of my questions. I’ve eaten there quite a few times and the food is really good. It seems well balanced and pretty nutritious. The menu offers a lot of different choices, but if you don’t want something on the main menu then there are different options that you can choose. The cleanliness is good, every time I go to visit my wife her room is very clean. They have plenty of games that require physical and mental dexterity, there are quizzes on what’s going on and they help stimulate the residents’ memories with quizzes about their life or the past. The other residents seem happy to be there and they’re pretty friendly. We’re moving to a different community soon, but it’s only because I want to be able to live with her. The rooms here are too small for us to be together.

I visited this community when I was looking at options for my mom. The second I walked in the door I felt a warmth that I hadn’t felt anywhere else. The residents were all so happy and had wonderful things to say about the staff.

This community is nice and clean. His needs are fully met here. He says his quality of life is better since being here. He loves going on the bus rides. He loves the food and they have lots of choices. He is really happy. The staff is friendly and I would recommend this community we like working with them.

We are very happy so far with Sunrise of Bloomingdale. I can literally walk there from my house, and we have found the staff to be very warm, gracious, and as helpful as they can be; not only to my loved one, but to me and the rest of the family as well. I would absolutely recommend this community to others.

Mom was in a skilled nursing home and we had to move her into hospice care. I was hesitant to move her to Sunrise because it was an Assisted Living place and they had no nursing at night (although I think they may have hired one since I was there). The level of care and responsiveness to my mom was truly a Godsend. From the level of care, to the room and even the food it was such a blessing. They were so much more responsive than the nursing home. I thought that Sunrise was for healthy people, I had no idea what a good place this was for my mom. They treated her with respect and they were super friendly. I would recommend this to anybody and everyone. I was relieved my mom was here for her final days.

I helped my friend get in this community. And I love how personable the staff is everyone knows him and his wants and needs. It is always clean and kept up. The quality of the food is good and he cleans his plate every time. He is getting his value worth. They try to engage him to join the daily activities. I would recommend this community.

[Removed] were exceptional! From my first conversation to the knowledgeable and compassionate advice they gave me, I knew that they really cared about helping me transition my Mom into assisted living. Their professionalism and [Removed] attention to detail was fantastic! She thought all the details through with me and even carried some things to the room with me on moving day! Most importantly, she treated my Mom with dignity and respect, and her cheerful personality was very reassuring. The staff is attentive and patient. Special thanks to [Removed] in PT, [Removed] our caregiver, and [Removed] in the dining room. We appreciate you all!

The director gave me a very good tour she was friendly and broke everything down for me. I talked with the medical staff and I was impressed It is clean and nice. It just wasn't in the budget so we had to chose elsewhere.

I was very impressed with Sunrise. Definitely on my list right now. I have several facilities I am still going to visit and compare to Sunrise

I toured here when looking for a place for my grandmother and it was nice. They’re a bit older so they have a bit more experience I think and they seem to be nice with all of the residents. I wouldn’t say it’s run down, but it’s starting to show it’s age. Other than that, it seems really nice. When I went, it was lunch time and you could smell it all over. It seemed like every time our tour guide would walk by, she would say hi to everyone and everyone recognized her and knew who she was and everyone seemed to be having a good time there. Everyone was very friendly and everyone knew each other and was talking with each other. The only thing was that outside, in their garden area, you could see the age of the landscaping. The chairs and stuff outside were really old and rusted and you could just tell that it wasn’t new.

The comprehensive training of the staff in dementia care is evident in the way EVERYONE treats the residents. Individual plans for people so they don't get shoe horned into an institutional schedule. Excellent on-line tools and caregiver support.

loved it seems like a great choice

My in-laws are here and everything seems to be going well so far. They’ve been very helpful. My Father-in-law is sort of a hard person to get along with sometimes and they’ve got a ton of patience with him. They’re helpful and answer questions when he has them. When they first got there, they liked the food, but now they’re sort of getting tired of it but I think it’s because there’s not so much of a variety. There are a few things that the facility provides for activities like bingo and dance nights. The facility is kept clean and housekeeping changes the linens once a week. I would recommend them.

I have looked at many places while trying to find a place for my loved one. This facility’s staff team is just wonderful. Their care team has enough skill and it seems that they are using a system that’s efficient to where they can get you what you need. When I came in with my loved one, they sat her down and talked to her for an hour and a half. I thought that this was pretty cool because they made a conscious effort to try and connect with her, I find this very important. The executive director is always on the premises. Every time that I visit the entire staff would come up to me and tell me everything that is going on with my loved one. They are very communicative and I like how they always keep me in the know of what issues that may transpire. I would recommend this place because I myself feel safe knowing that my loved one is getting the care that she needs and she is happy as well.

Wonderful facility - unfortunately too far away. [Removed] gave us things to look for and ask about as we tour other facilities. [Removed] was amazing and I wish it were closer to our house.

My parents just moved in about a month ago and it’s been a bit of an adjustment but my mom is like a happy camper. It’s been a very warm atmosphere and we had a good vibe from the start. The staff is interacting really well with my parents. I think there are a couple of staff members that my mom thinks are a little cooler than the others, but that might just be a personality thing. The rest of them have been very welcoming and helpful. For the most part it’s been like a family. The general manager, [Removed], even comes by once in a while to say hi. We’re a Christian family, and learning that [Removed] is an ex-pastor was really great. [Removed] is the activities manager and she’s been fantastic. The facility is wonderful and it just feels good. They clean the apartment weekly and take out the trash from the apartment once a week. But if you fill it up ahead of time then there’s a large trash can in the laundry room that you can dump it into. They have so many activities too! Games, outside musicians will come in, there was a Veteran’s day ceremony that was done so well, there are outside lunches, and they have something called Froggy Friday once a month where kids will come in and exchange letters with the residents. Every day there is probably only an hour or two where something ISN’T happening. They don’t want people just sitting in their apartments, they want them out socializing. Something that I learned while looking into the facility is that they partner with another outside assistance company that will help with showers and things like that. You do have to pay extra for those services, but they’re available for those who need it. They have a wonderful library and when we first came to take a tour and look at it, we just watched the residents and they all just seemed to be really enjoying their time. It was such a relief knowing that a great place existed that we could afford. I would recommend them and my mom is already trying to recruit her friends!

Very nice facility, [Removed] was very helpful. The facility was very clean and the rooms were spacious. The residents appeared to be happy and spoke well of the food. This is the first facility that I visited but I would definitely consider this as a place for my Mom.

My mother was sadly only at Sunrise for a week before she passed, but I can say that for the week she was there, they took really good care of her and everything was good. We had a great experience with the people that worked there. The people there are great and we really loved the place. I would highly recommend it to others.
