Metro bus access still to be figured out. Nice room size, facility a little dated but still pleasant. Food options more limited than other facilities. Good range of activities.

We would consider living here if it were not for the unreasonable fees associated with pets ($[removed] deposit and $50/month) . They seem to be designed to discourage pet owners. Good food, but high in calories so not appropriate for diabetics. We were told , 'Residents manage their own diets,' but how is that possible with limited menu choices?

The Hearth looks clean and they are able to make friends and enjoy their activities. As far as care there is a lack of nurses and nurses that truly care about your family.

There is a little too much pressure to sign in one day. My friends were hesitant, but they got them to sign anyway. In less than two days they had changed their mind, they didn't want to move yet. Once they backed out, there was no getting their money back. I would think if the community knew an elderly couple was hesitant, and they knew that they wouldn't get their money back, maybe they would encourage them to think about it more and be sure. The apartments themselves are gorgeous. It's a nice place and we were excited about it, but that was really unfortunate. They were nice as could be initially, but then when we changed our mind things changed. I would say be really, really sure when you sign the paperwork that you are committed.

We toured this community, and it was a little different than the others. They don't separate the Assisted Living from the Independent Living. If you need more care, they come and take care of you in your room. The only part that we didn't like about that was that with everyone being intersperced, it seemed like a constant reminder of that nursing home feel. The marketing director has an interesting personality that takes some getting used to. She's lovable, but just a little rough aroung the edges. To be honest, we just didn't like the site. We wanted our loved one to be intermingled with others she could relate to, and everyone seemed to be behind closed doors.

My loved one hasn't been here long, but so far everything seems to be going well. I've only seen the place a few times but during my visits the staff always seemed friendly, and they kept the place very clean. My loved one doesn't get much assistance, just meals and laundry service, but she said the food is good.

This is a very nice, clean facility. The food is good. The care response could improve. My mother also wears a Lifeline necklace because she doesn't feel they will respond quickly in the event of an emergency.

This is on our list of possibilities at the moment. They have a studio available, but we were wanting a one bedroom.

The grounds were inviting and in a nice natural setting. It had the least informative of all the briefings, but had a new co-manager. This chain uses their co-managers as marketers and do not provide a take-away brochure or packet. A plus, they have four two bedroom duplexes and would have plenty room for more but have no current plans to expand in that direction. We were pleased to be able to see one of these. We ate lunch here; it was o.k., but not to write home about. The public restroom that I used needed cleaning.

We toured this location when looking into options for a loved one, and it was not one of our favorites. It was clean, and the staff we spoke with were friendly, but it had a very institutional feel. It wasn't the atmosphere we were looking for.

I moved out to be closer to my daughter. Manorhouse was institutional and they had trouble with their call lights and call systems. They may have changed it now so it goes to a computer that someone is watching. I fell in my bathroom and I pulled my thing in the bathroom but it didn't get to anyone. It went up through corporate and that's up in Virginia so to get any feedback through the system was difficult. Their problems with the food is they have two seatings. They cooked all the food, did the one seating and by the time the second seating came the food was not fresh and they didn't have enough time to clear plates between seatings. That was a difficulty for me there.

I had to take my mother out of there because she was starting to get the very beginnings of dementia. She was in the independent living - she was in a separate building for the assisted living. They weren't doing her medicine any more. There were activities but because of her eyesight she didn't really participate in any of them. The meals were small and kind of the same thing day after day. A lot of the times I would make my mom food and take it over there.

I guess my concern was, when my mother couldn't come back, my feeling that I got from Willow Park was that they hoped she could come back because they wanted her money, not that they cared about her. After she died, they sent me a bill and I thought that was tacky, I think I got it before we even buried her in the ground. When we fist moved her in, they seemed to be very nice and it's not like they were hateful at all. They had senior helpers in there and those people aren't worth a flip. I think they need to keep an eye on those people more. There were activities that she could do, but mom didn't go downstairs to eat and they were complaining that they needed to bring food up to her, but it was like, what are you going to do? Let her starve? There were things that bothered me, but we didn't have a lot of options, proabbly for someone that is truly independent it would be good. It's a nice place and I just think they're money grubbers, it was clean and the independent people looked like they were happy there.

They are only able to handle well behaved people. They have an Alzheimer's unit but I found that it was not really an Alzheimer's unit because the disease has certain characteristics and they couldn't handle it at all. My father only lived there for 3 weeks.

I'm actually moving my dad, my mom passed away so he doesn't need all of the things here and most of the people are sicker than him. I was really disappointed with their understanding of hospice, my mom wasn't able to get medication when she needed it and they would call me instead of calling hospice, it never really got resolved. My mom ended up going to inpatient probably a little sooner than she should have because of the issues we were having. It looks clean on the outside but it has an odor all the time, they maintence it, its kept up well, I don't think they answer the call light like they should and they have a lot of turnover, things you don't find out until you're there. They said they had a lot of activities and transportation but when it came down to it there really weren't as many as they said and they weren't able to take her to her doctors appointments.
