My sister not happy with the food at Aurora Pond . If you get there late they don't have the main selection available. If you get there even later they say they've thrown away the food. They should at least have food set aside for residents that don't make it on time. This has happened several times and that is why I am mentioning it. I have heard that kitchen staff aren't that nice either. For the price we pay this should not be the case. It is a nice facility but she cant wait to go home. The residents themselves are not very nice to new residents. I am not very happy with the decision that I made to have her here really.

I lived there for 11 months, and then, a year ago, I moved in with a friend, and am happier now. At "The Lodge",it is really independent living. They provide no care services except calling 911. You can order some care services from various home health care agencies, but the Lodge staff may call 911 for you. The public areas are clean. The residents' rooms are "cleaned" weekly, and the work varies in quality, depending on which staff member is assigned to your room. The tone is set by the Manager, which is a position of high turn over. The first couple saw themselves as cops whose job it was to catch rule breakers. The second couple was warm, friendly, helpful, and great. Many activities were offered, and enjoyed by most residents, although Bingo is not my thing. The food is wonderful, or that is what they market as a high point, but the reality is quite NOT wonderful. It is not diabetic friendly, at all. The portions are tiny, which was fine with some of the little old ladies, but not for this mot large man. Also the quality was very inconsistent. As the apartments have no kitchens, people without cars are going to be hungry. They charge like the places that have services, but one can rent a regular apartment for a fraction of what the Lodge costs. I now share a house and eat very well (on my schedule, rather than when someone else decides when one can eat), for a third of the cost of The Lodge.

It's been okay so far. She has had complaints, but she complains about everything. She doesn't like the food, very much. I think it's fine, I don't see any major issues with the place, but she isn't very happy.

The staff mmember who showed me arund seemed disinterested in what I thought. Thee apt he showed me had a very dirty carpet. Didn't give me a good first impression. Because of the nonwelcome I received I have marked this off my list.

The staff was wonderful but the management was not very good. I did not have a good experience here. The facility was clean and the staff was friendly but overall I did not have a good experience here.

They were suppose to give my father an orientation but it was 3 days later and still no orientation. They did not give him a handbook as promised. They were suppose to come hook his VCR up but did not come. My Father's apartment is nice, clean and spacious. He really likes it. He doesn't do the activities so I can't rate that. My Father and I were both impressed here when we first saw it, but now 2 months later not as much. He's not very comfortable here but it may be because of the transition.

2 bedroom apartment units are not well laid out for furniture. Very pricey also. Cottage option was better but requires constant travel back and forth for meals.

We chose Sunrise because of the small "neighborhoods" that allowed Dad to easily get to know his neighbors, for the 24 hour nursing care and the clean, beautiful facility. However, the nursing care was not what I expected and my father died after only 18 days there. The nurse said he had a virus that was going around and it turned out he had C-diff, a deadly infections that often occurs in assisted living facilities, hospitals and nursing homes. As it turns out, Dad's was the third case at Sunrise at the time ( the head nurse told me after Dad had died). Just be careful and watchful where ever you place your loved ones.

Independence Village does not live up to its name. There are more assisted living people that need a lot of care residing in the independent apartments. Independent living means you can take care of yourself. Also, the construction of the apartments are not senior friendly. The place is beautiful and expensive.

We visited this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. Physically this is a very nice looking place, the facility is clean and well kept. However, I was not pleased with the management here at all, the tour was not informative and did not inspire confidence.

Current changes are a bit concerning. Rates are going up. Food service is suffering, while management is changing. A secure place is what the elderly are paying for. Food should be compatible to their palette .

My parents have been living here for the past 18 months. Staff very friendly and helpful but need to hire more staff to assist the community. The biggest problem I have is the fact they have two separate dining rooms. I feel the assisted living community is treated as second class citizens and are not good enough to eat in the main dining room. Also, need to serve more fresh fruit and vegetables as much of the clientele has diabetes.

My mother has been in Assisted Living unit now about 3 months and she is settling in. The apartment is nice and the food is good. There is a choice of two dining rooms which is helpful for my mom as the larger, nicer dining room is a bit intimidating for her. I have been dissatisfied with two things, one being the rather limited activities for residents to be engaged socially, and the other being the inconsistency of caregivers in assisted living. If there is one question I should have asked, it was the profile and tenure of the AL caregivers. The place is very close to my home and I spend a lot of time there. Both residents and staff are very friendly, the facility is bright and clean, I am just concerned about he quality and consistency of care, especially given what I am paying.

I think that they need to be more friendly. They are dealing with elderly seniors that do not always like or even fully know what is going on, and they could have been a bit more kind, gentle, and understanding. The managers seem to lack people skills. Many of them are kind, but the overall first impression as far as being friendly and personable was not great, which I noticed was the case with other residents and families as well. Don't get me wrong - I am grateful that they are here for my parents. They just need better people skills.

The food is excellent, they have very good variety. Dinner is from four until six, and you should get there are four, because they start to run out of some of the food. Sometimes you have to wait forty minutes before you eat. They take your order but then they disappear. There seems to be no rhyme and reason for it. They are working on retraining their staff. The staff has a section of tables that they take care of and if it's not their table then they don't care and they ignore you. The staff is very nice, but they seem to take care of some of the people and then go shoot the breeze. I went to a town "hall meeting", and they said some of the cooks couldn't make it for the severe weather. I chose it because of how nice it looked and how clean it was inside. The staff I deal with are extremely pleasant. My room was cleaned one time and they haven't done it again since. They have a movie night every night, but the movies that they show are 1978-1979 era, never new movies. When you come in you get 40 channels but no premium channels. I am a little disappointed in the activities, they said they had a contingency of "younger" people, 60's 70's, but most people are over 80. I have been welcomed by the staff, but as far as the community at large, no. The cabinets kind of slam. The doors are all hollow, there are a lot of little things about an apartment that you don't notice, I can hear the neighbors t.v. through the walls. The bedrooms are small, and for 3000 dollars a month it's not worth it. They have Wii bowling, bingo, and a lot of the standard activities. Really check out the other residents and make sure that they are going to be compatible with you, come out at different parts of the day, and really pin down what the cleaning specifics are. They have an underground garage, and they charge 65-75 dollars a month, depending on how close to the elevator you are, they are kept warm and clean too.

Fine, Older place, everyone seemed friendly, seemd clean, seemed more of a hotel style, little dimmer and darker.

nice, rooms felt like it was a home (but felt sterile) Residents felt a little older than my parents, I didn't feel like they would fit in well. They also only had a set meal, no choice..

Remodeled Hilton. LARGE dining are w/lots of tables for 4 - indep. Second dining on 3rd floor, lots of windows. Urine smell on 4th floor. Outdoor area weak. Entryway not impressive.Very accommodating. Many choices. Promo for Sept, move in by Oct.Slow elevators.

This is an independent community, and as soon as there is an issue and you are no longer entirely independent, you may have to find something very quickly. They were not good about working with us once we had an issue. It was fine while we were here, the clientele is a little on the older side, and there are a lot of ladies, not as many men.
