The tour we took was ok, but the view from the room looked right out over the highway. I also noticed there was no interaction from the director to the residents when we got in the elevator.

Our family was able to do an in person tour and we just fell in love with it, the building was absolutely beautiful. However, after doing research on the internet we saw they had a lot of bad reviews. We asked them in person and we just did not believe their answers.

The new management that is here now is much nicer then the previous management. They are having staffing issue, the house keepers have left as well as the kitchen staff. Occasionally house keepers will come every other week but that is about it. At the moment I do not feel like I am getting my money's worth. The community would get higher ratings if there weren't a lot of staffing issues.

I've had a couple of different family members here. It's a nice facility. The staff is very friendly, but there's been so much turnover. We now have a gentleman that I hope sticks around for a long time, as I've seen lots of positive impact from him being there. And I'm starting to feel more connected to the staff again. They've had a hard time keeping staff, so cleaning of rooms doesn't happen as often as it should. The activities are good, especially considering Covid. They have a nice bus that can take people to doctor appointments and other places. It's a very aging community though, so it cold be a challenging environment for someone on the younger side. It seems like more of an assisted living community than a retirement community. They have AdvisaCare there for people with health needs, which we've utilized. But it would be really nice if they had separate floors or areas for people who are younger and have physical care needs, but their minds are still fully intact, who just need a sense community and some additional support. I feel like that's a marketing segment that falls between the cracks.

Oliver Woods was nice, but it seemed too nice. It wasn’t believable or feasible. It was all show - too clean, too showy, brand new furniture in the room they showed us. It was like a showplace, not a place for someone to live. There seemed to be no life there. I didn't see any people. They were all in their rooms. It also seemed to be a place with highly functional residents, not what comes to mind for assisted living, and not a place if your loved one needs more care.

Our family was able to do an in person tour and the community was still very restricted and they were going through some remodeling. However we did get to see everything we wanted to see, and the rooms were just smaller then what we were looking for. Also the hallways were much darker then another community we were looking at, they did not have a lot of natural sunlight.

Our loved was there when covid was just coming to an end so we were only able to see our loved one about once a week. We were able to see him eat a couple of meals and he never complained about the food. When you walk into the Clarendale community it looked like a country club, it was just beautiful. Towards then end of our loved ones stay he got to be to much for them and they pretty much told us he needed to leave immediately which we were not happy about.

Mom will probably not qualify for assisted living here. The place is very nice but does not have skilled living. Our rating does not reflect the overall condition but is based on our needs.

My mom needed more assistance than they were able to provide. There was no alarm on her bed and she fell and had some very bad injuries. I would tell others that if you are more independent, it would be an amazing place to be after everything that I have seen and learned being inside. If you need more assistance and need more care, I would not recommend.

They were good at first but after about 3 weeks it went downhill. They promised transportation and it did not happen. The food quality was really bad and was served cold. I would not recommend this community until these things are fixed.

I have a relative in DSL at Northfield and her personal care is lacking. She had diarrhea all day yesterday, but the doctor was not called. Her wheelchair, walker and other personal possessions are missing. Her hair looks as if a 2 year old got some sizzors and hacked it off. Her toenails are extremely long and her fingernails are dirty. I cannot rate the facility, but her room smelled like urine every time I have been in it. The staff and the Director of Nursing are rude when I ask about her care, or possessions. I will write an official letter of complaint when I find the address of the corporate office. I was not notified that a chair in her room was falling apart. I wrote a review shortly after she was admitted in [date removed]. Her care has gone downhill since I have not been able to go to her room to observe.

Make sure you are prepared and ready to move it. Understand the finances and what is included is very important. Communication is good between the staff and our family and they keep us well informed. I would recommend if you do your research first.

The community was very clean and the staff members were all very friendly. The food was good but they just had smaller portions. The value was a little bit outrageous for paying month to month, we pretty much just got food and had a place to sleep. They did have a hair stylist on site and they did outdoor concerts, but the with pandemic they activities were pretty limited and we did not always participate. If you needed help with laundry or bathing it was an extra cost. There was also no kitchen in our apartment, just a small sink and tiny refrigerator.

The director kept checking her phone while we were there going over the paperwork, which was frustrating but that was the only complaint we ever had. She was very nice and understanding. Our loved one did fall a lot while she was there, and it seemed like they could of done something to watch her more closely to prevent those falls. The maintenance man was amazing, he helped us move our loved one in, he was very personable and warm. Because of the way he is, that made us feel very comfortable and we really appreciated that. When our loved one passed, because of covid we were not able to go inside the community to get her things, so the staff had to pack up her belongings. Everything went smoothly, they set everything outside the gate so we can treat it, however there was an item stolen and we never got an answer as to where it went.

[name removed] was nice. Answered all my questions via phone call with me following along on the website. However, I'm nervous since the community is multiple floors, [name removed] may get lost easily. I'm also worried she won't get the specialized care with so many residents.

Right after Christmas our loved was exposed to covid, we called the community immediately letting them know. Once she had learned she was exposed she had self quarantined herself. The executive director took a trash can to her door and placed it outside so she could put her garbage in that instead of walking down the hall to the garbage shoot. That was on a Monday and it was not emptied until Saturday, and that was only after she had called numerous times to have it emptied. We kept being told they were not able to assist her with anything since she is in independent living, but they were still going around checking every residents temperature. Once they learned she was exposed they stopped checking her temperature. Most of the staff members are very friendly. Our loved one is not happy with the meal and dining, the food is not good and the quality has gone down significantly.

I would tell others that Ponder Creek was clean and nice for the most part. She did run into some personal issues with staff, food, care services, etc. I think they should have better evaluated her and she needed more care that they were able to provide her at this point. All in all I know they offered a lot of activities and when I would speak to other residents they did seem friendly. I would recommend more for people who are more independent and can get around better.

We toured some other places first and we ended up choosing The Hearth because they could provide more care, it is a 24 hour care facility but we could also get a private room. The more help you need, the more it will cost. We did have an issue with maintenance, they said that we could help her move and we got there and they would not let us in, then we found out they broke a lot of furniture. They have had a lot of turnover of staff since the virus started. Without the virus everything was great. Overall, I would recommend to others looking.
