This is a really nice community. The girls that they have working here are really into their job. The only thing that I did not like was the front door but i know that they have to make sure that everyone stays in. They have activities like bingo, movies and more for the residents to do. They also have work outclasses for the residents.

The staff is very helpful and does a very good job taking care of our needs.

Independence Village looks like such a cute, put together place to work and reside.

Good community had everything connected to the main building. My loved one wanted to be on their own after touring this community at the time.

Our family had an in person tour and we thought the community was wonderful. However there was two things that made it not that one - one there was no assisted living onsite and eventually our loved one would needed assisted living and we did not want her to move. Also, this community did not have a pool and another community did.

We really enjoy it, think its the best place for my Mom. She is receiving good care. She is in memory care with alternating activities that do not confuse her but something keeps her engaged. They have numerous ones at different times. They cater to her needs. They help my Mom to have more interaction with others. Their covid protocols have been really good during this pandemic.

Independence village is a high quality facility in Petoskey MI geared more toward independent living vs assisted living. Medical needs can be met through their contracted services and associated medical assisted staff, however, most of the clientele are at the stage of life of independence vs medical assistant needs.

Our family had a virtual tour and it was actually a good experience. The staff were super friendly, the residents waved to us on the camera, and other staff members as they took us around the community. The place looked very clean and very nice, but they only had one room left and we were just not able to get in quick enough.

the staff are very nice to my loved ones and seem to have a good relationship with one another. the staff are helpful as well, I've seen them helping my mom carry her laundry basket just two doors down. my parents have a dog and a staff member [name removed] offers to take the dog out for them - she doesn't have to do that, they always go above and beyond what is expected of them. Oliver Woods does have a nursing home type of feel, rather than a homey one. they could also improve on the meals and dining. sometimes the food is served cold, in which case my loved ones and other residents will complain to them. the food should have more of a variety in sides to what's being served as the main dish. the ambiance during dinner is really dull, it feels like a cafeteria rather than a restaurant or community gathering. this can easily be fixed by playing some music or maybe facilitating some sort of activity? overall this community has a lot of kind and caring people, my loved ones like it here.

I would tell others that the staff is wonderful. The food is lackluster according to my loved one. The community still isn't able to take the residents outside of the community on outings due to the shortage of staff during the pandemic. Overall, I would recommend the community.

I am pretty happy here. They keep us as busy as they can.

Our family had an in person tour and the tour was fine. The issues with this community and why we did not consider it, was because it was to large. It was a little overwhelming and because it was so larger we were concerned in our loved one needed assistance it would take someone awhile to come.

We chose River Ridge Retirement because of the location and also the building looked very updated. I think all the staff were very caring. The management and employees could have done a better job at communicating with each other. Overall I would recommend them to others looking.

The house keepers here are always constantly cleaning, and even with the staffing struggles and having to wait sometimes for different services the staff member's are very friendly and doing the best they can. The meals are fabulous, and the dining service is efficient enough. They have numerous activities provided all day long which is great, and all the amenities here are wonderful. There is a bus driver here that takes us to different doctors appointments, and other places in the community.

This community is fine but they have been purchased by another company and they are understaffed. There have been gaps in food services and medication delivery. Overall it is a nice community but knowing what I know now I would put her somewhere else. They are on their third executive director and the new one is setting in. It will take time for them to get the necessary staffing and to get their act together. Everyone is very pleasant and they treat my loved one well. I would say to give this community some more time to get things together.

I would say to look into this community for your loved one if you like a smaller type place. The activities are limited due to covid at this time. The staff are good my loved one deals with them pretty often.

Nice community, more expensive than expected.

The apartments are very spacious. My mom was able to bring a large loveseat and over sized chair with a few end tables in the living area. There hasn’t been much turnover of nurses and caregivers for the 6 months my mom has been here. This has given us the opportunity to establish good relationships. All other staff has been friendly and always willing to help with any questions we have. The activity staff has encouraged my mom to participate in many of the games, entertainment and exercise events provided on a daily basis. She has something to look forward to each day. I will say it is important to have family as advocates to make sure all needs are taken care of and addressed, especially in those first few weeks/months after moving in. This of course is with any facility where an elderly person is being taken care of. Those advocates have to keep on top of medical issues, billing charges, etc. The move to StoryPoint for my mom has overall been a good experience.

The new manager here is very experienced, nice and extremely hard working. The cleanliness has been a little bit of an issue just with the covid staffing issues but doing their absolute best given the circumstances and sometimes the meals are a hit or miss. We do get three different options with dinner, but breakfast occasionally is the same with maybe a few different changes here and there. The residents here make sure activities going on, I always make sure to have movies playing in the movie theater at night
