My Mom was here for about 4 months. I think my definition of assisted living and their definition of assisted living is like night and day. They didn’t talk with me very nicely and their idea of assistance was walking into Mom’s room and telling her to get dressed and that was it. There were a few things that they said they would do and those things never happened. The entire time she was there, they were over promising and under delivering. They weren’t producing any of the results that we were paying for but they sure had no problem billing you for it. I’m not saying the facility is bad, you just have to stay on the ball with them. Otherwise they’ll charge you extra without you ever knowing. At one point, my mom wasn’t in her room and when I asked where she was, they had no idea. They told us to talk to another resident who was in the assisted living area with her. We eventually found out that they thought she was married to the other resident and would let him take her out of the facility. There were times where they wouldn’t do her laundry for a while until we made a comment about it, though they were telling us they were doing it once a week. They also said they would be folding her laundry, but there were numerous times where we would check on her and her laundry would just be sitting in the basket unfolded. The main facility was fine, but the assisted side was the worst. I would not suggest bringing your loved one here, especially if they have dementia.

I toured Winslow Court, but I didn't not particularly care for it. It's an older community, the halls were narrow, and there was an Oder about the place. It just wasn't the sort of place I wanted my loved one to be.

We originally chose this facility because the price was reasonable and our Father would be close to us. But when we visited, I noticed that there is no social life here. I feel like everything is just too spread out and narrow. We were there in the middle of the day and there was absolutely no social life. The caregivers were nice but there just wasn’t any mingling with residents. The impression I got was everyone was just subdued. The facility had the activities on the extreme ends of the building. My dad isn’t very mobile and trying to get him out of bed to walk around to go to activities wasn’t going to happen. I would not recommend this facility. There’s just no social life and all of the residents are just in their rooms.

Just moved parent from Thunderbird to another facility . My initial impression of Thunderbird was very positive. Both [Removed]y were friendly and enthusiastic. We liked the apartment and felt that Dad would be safe and well cared for. We signed the paperwork and moved Dad in. Our mistake. We didn't read all the paperwork carefully and noone pointed out that if a person is unhappy, they are committed to paying another 60 days after written notice is given. A $4000+mistake on our part. Also, we were told that if a person is away for 30 or more days, they would get meal reimbursement. Dad was away from August 29th to Oct 3rd and was told that he was entitled to $100. 2 meals a day and he is entitled to 100 dollars?? Really? Unfortunately, Dad was very unhappy and our usually outgoing Dad spent most of his time alone in his room. He found many cliques that were very hard to break into. People always sat at the same table with the same people. Not especially welcoming. This atmosphere starts at the top. Dad is now in another facility where the administrator is in the dining room every day interacting with residents and the staff manning the desk address every resident by name. He is himself again. My suggestion is to read ALL pages of your lease BEFORE you sign on any line.

My parents and I recently went on a tour of this community for possible future residency. The staff where kind and made sure to show us around the entire property as well as answer any questions I had for them. Although I liked it my parents did not. they where not very fond of the floor plan and did not like the layout of how everything was set up.

Very friendly staff. Clean and has a good menu to choose from. Apts. come in different sizes and gave us a lot to choose from. I have had some problems with having my Mom's meds given to her. And for the $500 a month they charge to order store and give the meds I would say the first month was not worth it. Hoping things will get better

The staff were knowledgeable and nice, however I did not feel comfortable them. They did not seem interested. It was just another routine for them. It did not feel like there was a personal feeling.

This community does not have air conditioned hallways for the residents to move from building to building. They have to take a golf cart to get to the cafeteria. They also do not have a dining area like a restaurant it is cafeteria style.

Not happy. My 88 year old mother in law was there for a 2nd respite stay. The lobby renovations and dining room problems were disturbing. Hopefully they will be fixed for her next stay.

Generally speaking, Winslow Court is a place with a lot of potential. The staff seems friendly and caring. The price is reasonable although the cost increases yearly. The food is bland and prepared with too much salt. There is a residents' committee that meets once a month to discuss concerns, but rarely changes are made to make life there more comfortable and the committee is comprised of people who have been there many years. Residences aren't asked to voice their ideas for improvement. Everything is outdated including furniture, bathrooms, decorations, elevators, air conditioners, meal plans, and activities. So much could be improved upon to make this a great place.

I had my own little kitchen area which I liked. I don't think I gave it a real chance. My room was on the third floor and they had big long hallways I just couldn't get around that easy. The apartment wasn't as nice as I would have liked. The people were not friendly here. It was really clicquey. It was dark everywhere and just not very happy feeling. I had storage here, which I did like.

I would not recommend this place. The resident has been there for over two years and has experienced three rate increases during that time. It is a month-to-month lease, which creates concern about stability. The resident prefers not to raise issues, as the location is very convenient and allows for independence while remaining close to family. There has been a growing sense of added fees and extra charges. For example, there are discussions about adding governors to scooters at the owners’ expense, and a monthly property damage fee of $[removed] has been added on top of rent. Maintenance and responsiveness have been inconsistent. It took multiple calls before a simple air filter replacement for the air conditioning was addressed. Communication can be difficult, and follow-through is not always reliable. It is also challenging to reach staff by phone or receive return calls when there are questions or concerns. There have been safety and staffing concerns as well. During an early morning emergency, access to the building and staff assistance was not readily available, requiring family intervention. Staffing in the evenings and at night appears especially limited, making it hard to find assistance when needed. There have also been frequent changes in kitchen staff over the past two years. Dining services have declined from what was originally described at move-in. The kitchen hours are no longer what they once were, and residents sometimes experience long waits for meals. Tables in the dining area may sit uncleared for extended periods due to limited staff. The resident values independence and prefers not to draw attention or create conflict. However, it is concerning that several longtime friends have chosen to move to other facilities. It is especially worrisome to think about residents who may not have family nearby to advocate for them. The positive part is the facility has just been repainted on the outside and has been getting some new carpeting in the facility.

My loved one is unhappy there. The food is beyond terrible. The staff seem to hate their jobs and communication with them is very bad, never returning my calls. I regret putting my loved one in this place. I would like to note that [name removed] was awesome in showing us around. The residents seemed to love her. We loved her too and she was the biggest reason we decided to choose Thunderbird. However, my loved one is unhappy......

I would not recommend La Sonora! They have too many staff changes in management and aid caregivers. I moved my Mom to [facility removed] and it's a great fit for her. I could also recommend The Fountains at La Cholla. The reason we chose [facility removed] , my Mom needed more one-on-one care, and we really like that she has the same caregivers a.m. and p.m. shifts five days a week. They really get to know her and vice versa. [facility removed] does cost a little more, but my Mom is thriving there!

Very disappointed with the difference between what they presented and what they provided. Four others that I know of also removed their loved one at the same time as they "evicted " [name removed]. I would never recommend The Groves to anyone.

My mom lived at Broadway Proper for several years. She loved it there and was the life of the party at all the special buffets and picnics. My mom was starting to have some undetermined health issues so unfortunately she needed to call 911 several times. At some point [name removed] told my mom that she had to stop because it was making the facility look bad. My mom replied that calling 911 was not in her head; as if someone had hinted towards this previously. Shortly after this [name removed] and my mom's Dr. called me and basically told me my mom had mental health concerns and needed to leave. My mom was in the hospital at the time!! While looking for a place to go from a rehab place. My mom went to the hospital again. Come to find out that this whole time my mom was dealing with a infected gallbladder that was now septic. It wasn't in her head just as she said. She was in the hospital around the time she was supposed to move they knew this. [name removed] called and asked when we could clean out her things.

Ask how much time is spent one on one to help memory care residents. Staff at the Groves don't seem to care about personal property,like clothes, whether they go missing or not. They are very nice to the residents.

They have really gone downhill in the last year! New administration, not enough caregivers and the food is not consistent. They do not have a chef, even though they say they do! Don't place anybody at La Sonora, recommend a different facility! I would say to the families, looking for assisted-living, to speak to the residents and see what they say about the place they are considering. I would also ask how long the nurse and director have been at the facility. There is so much turnover at La Sonora.

My parent is in memory Care here and the support is absolutely abysmal. Their is no real caregiving support, there is so much turnover and the staff they have does not seem qualified. There are no activities, they don't seem to know my parents name or anything about them. We try to call and no one ever answers or calls back. We pay over $[fee removed] a month and do not get even close to our money's worth. It's no wonder people are moving their parents out of the place on a regular basis. I wish we had this alternative, we would leave in a heartbeat.

This seemed like a great place for my stepmom when we first arrived, but we quickly learned it’s not the best place for someone unless they have minimal needs. My stepmom was on the 3rd floor. The elevator broke and wasn't fixed until a week later, so she couldn’t go down for food or activities until it was fixed. Broke a couple more times for a day at a time. The power went out from a storm and the back up generator did not work, so she temporarily ran out of oxygen. I received a call about noon on a Sunday that she wasn’t very responsive and wanted to know if they should call 911. I was shocked learning she had been this way since 8 am and just reacting . She ended up having to go to skilled nursing and we were notified a couple days before her release from the skilled nursing that Villa De San Antonio would not accept her back, as they felt she needed more care from a smaller facility. We were not told by Villa de San Antonio which was beyond disappointing.
