I love visiting the Villas. The staff is friendly, the community is clean. Food is delicious!

After looking for a few months for a place to move my mother, she had begun having dementia. I found Carriage Hill perfect for my mothers needs. It is a lovely quiet clean facility set in the scenic area of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Every time we go out my mother always commented on the beauty of the mountains. I found the staff competent and caring, if something needed attention, someone would come to take care of it. My mother always commented on how good the food was and that they gave you to much to eat. I’ve been in the dining room when the workers would ask "who wants more of whatever they were serving" they were not sticklers about time, my mother would sleep in and when she got up the kitchen staff would have her coffee and a bowl of cereal and toast so she would not be hungry before lunch. I highly recommend Carriage Hill. In the almost 3 years my 92 year old mother was there I never had any complaints. I saw her every week and she was always happy, clean and felt very content. As long as my mother was happy it made me happy and I felt at ease of her being cared for there. They would call when she had a cold and advise me of otc meds they were giving her. They were always about the comfort of the patient. I do wish they could have gotten her more interested in activities, but my mother was stubborn. Carriage Hill is an ecptional place, I was very satisfied with the facility as a whole.

i love this community and am so grateful you helped us find it. it is 15 minutes from my home and i had not heard of them. my parents are adjusting well, and staff has been professional and proactive. the only issue is some kitchen issues, but hopefully this will be addressed soon. since they have a small kitchen in their apartment, they can accommodate our picky eater

This is an excellent community. The staff is caring and attentive to my mom needs. The community is clean and we are happy to know that they offer healthy meals with a good variety. They have good activities to help my mom stay active I like knowing that she is getting great care with a good value. We would recommend this community for a good value for other families

I am very impressed with this senior living residence. It has all the bells and whistles for their seniors. The staff are welcoming, solicitous and caring. [Removed], Director is very knowledgeable, receptive and works as your partner regarding the care of your loved one. The layout is great. A nice size library, computer area, arts & crafts area, open game room, activities scheduled daily, movie theatre and even a nice bar area that the residents have social Happy Hour time with coffee or wine on some afternoons. Clean, smells fresh, very nice colors. Walking down the hallways, you think you are walking down an uptown Marriott or Hilton and the entrance is Grand. It was everything that I wanted a place for mom to be.

I have found the administration and staff to be very friendly and responsible people. The caregivers are kind, attentive and competent. The housekeeping staff are excellent. The facility is always neat and clean. Most important their are no unpleasant odors. The chef and dining room contingent prepare and serve delicious, nutritious meals with a smile and good natured quips. Many have been associated with the facility for years which is a compliment to the organization. The many volunteers provide activities for the residents and fine entertainment. Keep up the good work!

My mother in law has only been at Elmcroft for about a month so it is difficult for me to be detailed in this review. However, I can say that the facility is very clean, the rooms are spacious, [Removed] is very engaged in activities, and the staff is very friendly. The one thing I wish Elmcroft would make available for my mother in law is a secure place for her to spend time outside enjoying the nice weather. She is not allowed to sit outside because she is a wonder risk. She sees other people sitting outside and gets very frustrated when she is told she cannot sit outside. There is a small courtyard down in the memory care unit. They let her go down there to walk around outside but she gets very depressed when she goes into the memory care unit because the residents there are near the end of their life. It depresses her when she sees it. Other facilities offer lovely courtyards with flower beds and pretty gazebos with comfortable places to sit. I think [Removed] would enjoy this very much. I am giving serious consideration to moving her because of this.

My mother is doing great with her move to this community. I know she is safe, and in good hands at this community. They have a great staff. They have been helpful, and very kind. So far I like everything about this community, and I would recommend it.

The staff that have been following up with me about my mother have been great. At the moment everything has been going fine with her she likes the meals that they offer they are tasty and healthy. Activities are offered on site and off site to the residents.

My Mother has been here now for 2 years. I have been more than pleased with the facility and the care she has and is being given. I do think they need more staff per hall especially during the evening and night time hours. They have responded promptly to all my concerns and needs anytime I inquire. We did have to move to from a private to a semi-private not long ago. It has been a hard adjustment for me more than Mama. She still thinks she is returning to her old room. :) Everyone is just as helpful and pleasant on this hall as they were on the last. I would reccommend this facility to anyone that has a parent or spouse suffering from altzheimers or dementia.

The Villas at Canterfield is like a four star resort. When you enter the lobby, it looks very nice, and the staff there is all very cheerful and helpful, very eager to answer questions and offer solutions. My relative is very happy there and I would highly recommend them.

I have 2 parents at the Horizon Bay Charleston. One is in assisted living and the other is in the Alzheimer's unit. The assisted living area seems extremely nice. They are organized about personal care. The meals seem nice. The Alzheimer's unit is caring but they do seem short staffed sometimes. They do a good job. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. From what I had seen, the care and the cleanliness is far better than the other places.

Things have gone very well overall at Creekside at Three Rivers. The staff here are very friendly, very caring people, and they do a great job keeping families apprised as to what is going on with their loved one. I would recommend them to others looking into care in the area.

They've done a great job overall at The Haven in the Summit. The staff are all very friendly and professional, and were really great about working with us through this transition. They were communicative and helpful, and very gentle with the whole family while we figured things out. The facility itself is clean and well kept, and they take great care of their residents.

My husband and I visited North Brook Place last week and were very impressed. The place is older but very clean. Very homey and welcoming. The residents we saw and spoke with seemed happy and well taken care of. We feel it could be a good fit for our loved one and we would feel comfortable knowing that there was someone who cared about them as much as we do.

While still very new to this community, the beginning has been truly wonderful. I cannot find words to express our gratitude to the staff and Executive Director for their thoughtfulness and genuine caring displayed during the transition to this beautiful facility. The culture found within the staff speaks volumes in such an organization. Our hats are off to all including the visionary who planted this special place in the "dirt" of this great county. We are all blessed by their presence while we are particularly blessed with a place for our mom.

Carriage Hill is a very attractive, well-kept, Assisted Living facility that also offers Alzheimer's Care. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, off Route 460; it is also one of the few Assisted Living facilities in the Lynchburg/Bedford Area that take insurance & Medicare. In my experience, the administrator was very welcoming & informative. The staff I encountered during my weekly visits were friendly & helpful; I was told that a variety of activities were provided, however not when I was there. While the overall care for this ambulatory was good. 2 main concerns were expressed by the family. The first was that the patient had to see the MD contracted to cover the facility, instead of the physician who had treated her for many years (she saw her own specialists). The other concern of the family was that despite the patient having cardiac problems, including low blood pressure & a history of falling, her blood pressure was only checked once a month! When I questioned this, I was told that it was the normal procedure for this facility. I don't know what the Standard of Care for Assisted Living facilities is regarding checking vital signs, however, in a population with multiple health problems, who take a variety of medications, my view is that this is very inadequate. Regular blood pressure checks can prevent strokes, heart attacks & other cardiovascular events that can cause severe disabilities &/or death. If you choose this facility, I would suggest that you request the doctor order blood pressure checks, at least once a day.
