Building was very nice and would be a great place for the right person - unfortunately not the level of care to fit our needs.

This facility is like being at home with family. And I feel it's the residence options, apartments ; garden homes and patio homes. The residences are tastefully decorated and consider the needs of each resident. Smiling faces on all the residents. Staff is so respectful and inordinately experienced. [name removed] was so gracious, informative and guided me through some issues that the family faces with our mother. Activity schedule is full; shuttle bus for shopping and a driver for Drs. appts. So very impressive. Loved the layout of the Studio and 1 bedroom. Each unit offers a full kitchen and in unit washer/dryer The best testimonial was from a resident's daughter who offered these comments: " I visited every Senior community in the greater Columbia area and The Village of Southlake was selected. My mother is so happy. This was the right and best choice."

This place was great, although a little on the more expensive side. Lots of amenities, activities. Nice facility. The residents seemed happy and the staff were attentive. They have a memory care center and a license for end of life treatment (basically, nursing home care), so that your loved one would not need to move again if his or her health needs changed.

One of my top choices. This could be the place.

As a medical social worker and a certified care manager. I had a host of requirements when looking for an assisted living community for my mother. The Glen checks all the boxes – caring and attentive staff, a beautiful environment, well – coordinated medical care, great communities, enriching activities, an all of food options, personalized care and security. We can rest well knowing our mother gets stellar care.

Great place- ??nice clean facility- loved it- and we will consider it for our Mom if our budget allows!

We hit it off with [Removed] immediately. She was really informative and knowledgeable. The common areas are very clean, warm and inviting. The units are updated and located close to the common areas and dining room. There was some nice choices of activities.[Removed] raved about the food and we can come back and try it. We liked the size of the community; small and intimate. The location works well for us to be able to visit often. This one is definitely on our list!

We have been getting our parents into a care facility with much resistance from them, but when it became necessary the Beacon provided all the support we could want. They have been so amazing and accommodating to all the silly little demands asked of them, it made it much more workable for us. Now let me say the accommodations are beautiful, the food is outstanding, and the staff from top down is friendly and attentive. When you enter there you would think you were entering a fine hotel, except of course the only guest are aged (but engaged). The home is no longer The Blake,it is now The Beacon at Gulf Breeze.

While looking at the different options for my love one she actually didn’t like this place because it is a two story facility. They didn’t have any rooms available on the first floor so she wasn’t too keen on being on the second. This and the location of the facility are the reasons why we didn’t move forward with them.

Everything seems to be going fine, they have the doctor in and my love one is getting the therapy that she wanted so she’s happy. It was actually surprising to me too because when she first went in there she told me that she won’t do anything and she’s just going to just stay in her room. Now she’s so involved with everything it’s hard for us to find her when we go and visit. All the staff was very friendly, the place is nice and clean, if something were to break they have someone on it right away if not the next day, we get a great response out of everything, and my love one loves her room so she is very comfortable. They provide great activities like chair exercises, chair dancing, bingo, there are people in and out of their activity room doing puzzles, or just sitting around and talking. They also take the residences out once a week to Walmart and they also have transportation to other excursions for a fee. I recommend this location.

While I was trying to find a location for my mother, I could not have done it without A Place for Mom. This was a rather fast process because I needed a place as soon as possible and I didn’t have time to look around. I am so happy that this was recommended to me because my mother very much enjoys it there. The staff is very very helpful to me and her. In fact there have been a couple of times hospice had to come out to see her and the staff team has been very understanding with the care that she needs. They offer all sorts of activities. The variety of activities to participate in is posted somewhere to let everyone know what’s happening and it’s amazing. I have had a couple of bites of the food there and I would say that my complaint with that is it seems very salty. With my mother’s condition I have try to limit her solvent intake, so I believe that they should hold back on the salt. However, the menu they have has a variety of choices. It looks like its very healthy meals with chicken, fish, soups, and vegetables. Residents have the choice to eat in their own room or in the dining area. All in all I recommend this location to others.

This is a very lovely community and my mom & I were impressed with its plan and the decor when we came for our tour. Now that my mom has moved in she really likes her one bedroom/bath with a kitchenette, it's spacious and with her furniture all set up, it makes it feel more like home. Mom likes joining her tablemates in the dining room and they enjoy the menu and food. They do offer a lot of amenities that mom has started to take part in and there are field trips and special events as well. This has been a good move and we would recommend coming here for a tour.

I toured this community for my mom's care. We did like the staff who made you feel comfortable. The community was clean and they offered good meals. We wanted different care then what they wanted. We would recommend that families tour this care for the assistance for a loved one

I have to say the staffing at this community has such a big heart. They opened up the community and accepted residents from a community that had to be evacuated due to the hurricane. All the residents and staff made those folks during a very difficult time feel welcome and safe. My mom loves living here she is making friends and doing activities. The community is always very clean and well maintained. I have eaten here and I can honestly say it is very good and looks good. I feel very good about the decisions I made placing my mom here.

We toured this community for mom's care. We like the staff who were friendly. The community is clean but needs to update in a few areas. We like the menu and the activities. We would suggest that families tour this community for care.

Three weeks ago my husband of “51 years” moved into The Glen. Hard decision? Yes! However it was the right decision!!! He now has the best 24hr care possible!

Beautiful facility. Common areas extremely well decorated and appointed! Facility has full complement of staff who are attentive to the needs of the residents, all very well structured and fun. Security is good and kitchen staff work hard to prepare very good meals. An excellent facility!

We toured this community it was nice and the staff was helpful. We wanted a certain type of care that was not available. We liked the caring staff. The environment was clean and the list of activities would have been helpful. The atmosphere was clean and the residents seemed to be happy. We would recommend that families tour this community for the care of a loved one
