Spring Arbor Senior Living

my loved one was in memory care section. Terrible! This section was always treated like the bastard child in all areas - food service, staff, activities, food quality, etc, etc. on and on. A few good staff members, but most were burned out. Many just stayed on their cell phones and seemed unavailable to help residents in need. So little for such a high price.

Promises made during the tour did not transfer to real results. They appear to be understaffed when it comes to nursing care and the food is subpar. Family has had to bring my mother food just so she receives nourishment. Also, apartment size is inadequate. Way too small.

I know a few residents out here and it seems to me if they call a nurse to get help the nurses get an attitude. Well isn't that your job?? People in jail get taken care of then some of the residents in there. In my opinion you have to have some kind of competition with this career. People pay good money to stay here. They deserve to be treated better. I'm sorry for my rant but I just had to get it off my chest.

The staff was very good to the patients, very caring and patient, seemed to genuinely care about them. They had a few activities in the morning but didn't seem to do anything in the afternoon. I didn't notice a lot of physical activity and I did ask about it. The food was excellent and they occasionally did outings which the patients loved. The rooms were clean and they had the patients on a schedule for changing and bathing. I think they need a lot of help giving medications and what medications to give.

They misspelled my father's name on his door. They had inaccurate information on our paperwork (they listed my address in Florida, when I live in New Hampshire). They do not refill his cpap machine, nor do they supply distilled water. They are do not seem to be making sure he is bathing regularly.

Had a horrible experience with the manager [name removed]. He was very dismissive and cold which I feel are not qualities of someone who’s in charge of an assisted living facility. I would NOT recommend sending your loved ones here... truly disappointed and shocked.

Went back and forth with director to get things right but always went back to the issues we had. Mom didn't get regular showers. Feet stunk and skin was awful looking. Food was like what you might see in a ghetto pre school. Did not put her compression socks on every day which was doctor orders. Would let her sleep for days setting up in her chair. Legs stayed swollen. I had her with me for less than 2 weeks and all these issues went away.

e had trouble with them getting his meds right. They did not provide washing of linens 1/x week and another load as promised, but the tech would do it if you asked. My parent did not like to ask. Staff was nice. Clean place and trustworthy with belongings. Often difficult to get someone on the phone in an emergency from outside facility. Many foreign employees which sometimes made a communication barrier. Took a long time to answer calls at night especially

“Fine cuisine” is advertised with a “restaurant style menu”. It is not… it is take it or leave it with average food at best. Cleaning staff is spotty and does an occasional good cleaning. Not “upscale”, just newer than its competitors. Additional charges are added at a generous rate.

Dominion of Florence could be honest with family members instead of hiding injuries and illness. Hire the right people and train their staff to deal with dementia.

Deceptive advertising, failure to adhere to 45 day notice on dismissal of patient. We do not recommend the Alto Clermont facility to other families due to dishonesty of management!

The leadership does not follow directions. We had nothing but problems getting my mother.The care she needed in the memory care ward. There were several very good attendants there but overall the staff was inadequate. There were mysterious falls that they never knew what happened.

Dominion of Anderson is a wonderful facility. It is clean, with kind and caring staff, good people, and great food. Unfortunately, my mom was not a good candidate and they couldn't house her in either Assisted Living or Memory Care after attempting to move her there. It is an unsecured facility where people can easily leave the premises if they don't want to be there, which was the case with my mom. I wish I had known that their Memory Care wing was unsecured before moving my mom's belongings and some of her furniture there. I would have given this place a 3-star rating (for my experience) if they had not cashed the check I wrote them with my mom only spending a total of 2 hours there. It took a little over a month to get the money back. Also, I wasn't offered much in the way of help when it came to moving her stuff back to her house.

My loved one was previously a resident at Wickshire Steele Creek. The admissions person was nice. Staff & communication: a few were friendly and answered questions. Most were lacking people skills, compassion, patience and seemed to want to get you off the phone or pass it onto another person only to get an answering machine most of the time. We were over 2 hours away and work full time jobs. Overall, the communication was bad. I left emails and voice messages with no returns. I had to keep calling. The move in process was medium. Half of the staff was rude out of 3 people: 2 rude. 1 helpful. The meals were fine. Clothing, upon leaving, my loved one only had 5-6 items of his to take with him. Shirts and jeans, 1 pair of socks and his shoes. Who knows what happened to all of his clothes! That's a problem in most facilities. Waste of an elderly person's and family's money. The facility smelled fine and seemed clean. Once checked out to relocate, I signed a form for medication that was left belonging to my loved one to be sent to the facility that he was moving to. Then I was billed for a month's worth regular prescriptions that didn't even leave with him. The bill wasn't paid for, over $400 to Omnicare, by my loved one as he didn't leave with what he was charged for. It's a beautiful facility, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Staff kept changing without notice, incorrect meds given, pretended not to receive emails and ignored my phone calls. Made my Mom sick with bad food and was hospitalized with no notification to the family. I will never refer anyone here ever. The staff that cared for my Mom was good to her but the new Administrator was very flip and uncaring about my Mom and her overall care. Wickshire changed Administrators 3 times in one year. Not a good look and was a very unpleasant experience for family and my Mom. My Mom got e-coli from Wickshire and it was downhill for her from there. Then they rejected taking her back. She's was pretty okay prior to that.

Dominion of Florence community needs more staff for number of residents. They need to be better trained on how to approach residents with dementia.

My husband was at Windsor Manor for around 7 weeks before he was ask to leave, with no 30 day notice. Even though they are Memory Care I would not recommend sending a spouse or a loved one there as they are not qualified to handle anyone with Dementia or Alzheimer’s. He did wander, which is common with people with Dementia, but no precautions such as an alarm on his door were put on until the day he had to leave. He did enjoy his time there and the staff was friendly but not trained well enough to handle my husband with Dementia. It was very traumatizing to move him without any notice and have him come back home until we could find a facility who does know how to handle Memory Care patients. It was also stressful for me when I got the constant phone calls telling me my husband did this and he did that, it’s supposed to be a memory call facility so they need to know how to handle these situations without calling me all the time.

The patients are not very well supervised and my father in law walked out of the gate and walked along a four lane road unattended. They need better structure for memory care patients so they aren't free to get into trouble. I would not recommend Spring Arbor of Wilmington for those who are looking for memory care.

1. Turnover is unbelievable…which tells you tons. 3 Executive Directors in less than 2 years, 3 Resident Services Directors (NOT RN), food is mediocre at best, cleaning staff is horrible. We actually clean our mothers room every time we are there. The Dr couldn’t care less and has zero follow up or follow through. Really… just say no.

I'm not happy with them and wouldn't recommend the community to anyone. The community was supposed to start Physical Therapy with my loved one and they never received this. The family had to pay for the pendant to call for assistance for our loved one to use. There was a time that the staff told my loved one to stop pressing the pendant because they were pressing it too much. Also, if the resident pushed the button it would clear the original time stamp. The family even saw that it took more than 5 minutes and the staff never show up after the call button being pushed. The family was left alone with all memory care residents during meal times. There is one staff member for 17 residents. I feel the staff aren't trained that the community hires people off the street. My loved one was sent to the hospital from the community dehydrated, malnourished and pneumonia. The staff would walk away from assisting my loved one with showering, even though the family requested assistance with showering.
