Smelled strongly of urine as soon as J walked in and residents didn't seem engaged at all.

Brick entrance and hallways, age of property and limited options. Easy to eliminate.

Looked terrible. Did not even tour

This place I give a 0 on all subject. Due to lack of employees do not know what they are doing. Low staffing. Kitchen dining area lack of workers wait over an hour to be served. Food is either over cooked or uncooked. Areas not cleaned. Washer and dryers not working. The state and health department has been out there 6x since April. Place is non complaint on several issues of medication error. Lack of giving medications at right time.

Stay away!!! Shorthanded staff, missed meals that were to be delivered, housekeeping was hit and miss, laundry missing especially sheets, no nursing care especially since nurse that filled in was from over an hour away. Vitals were never taken. We spoke with the director several times and things did not approve. Had someone enter the apartment in the middle of the night without asking or pull cord. Looked into the bedroom and left again. Didn’t feel same in their own apartment.

I originally planned to keep my mom at Birchwoods for a month while I went out of the country. I ended up having her removed after 2 weeks. I expected them to reimburse me because they put someone else in the room I paid for for the month, which was double dipping - they said "oh no problem". I've been fighting them for my security deposit back and they've failed to reimburse the remainder of the room fee. The residents were horrible. My mom went down to lunch and they said she couldn't sit there and it was their table; you'd think they were in middle school. The meals were awful as well. The staff said they would introduce her to other people, but they never did. Administration was nice, but they never followed through on anything. I had taken some really expensive sheets over there and left them a couple days before dropping her off. When we came back to move her in, they were missing and never found again. They bought her 2 pairs of new sheets to replace the stolen ones, but they were not the same quality. We also left some things in her room, but never got them back. Part of that was my fault, I was away and my family didn't realize some of it was her stuff when cleaning out the room. Still, some things were returned to us and some were not... It was just a very big disappointment.

I would advise others looking into Elmcroft of Arlington to not put their loved one here. My mom was not even here 24 hours before we had to put her in rehab. We have been trying to get people on the phone as we are moving her out and it is impossible. They have no communication at all.

Brookdale was the biggest mistake - my mother had a black eye within 2 weeks and a fractured footby the next visit. We moved her out as fast as we could. They are not friendly to the residents more like bullies.

Beware the Gardens at Westlake: If you are looking for a safe, reliable place for your loved ones and an ethical, honest management team, I would steer clear of the Gardens of Westlake and any facility owned by Spectrum Retirement, LLC. In March of 2020, my grandmother passed away after several years as a model resident. I visited her at The Gardens of Westlake several times and was always happy to find my grandma enjoying life and her friendships there. When the time came to vacate her apartment and remove all of her belongings, I was shocked to learn about the plan the parent company, Spectrum Senior Living LLC proposed and insisted on following. They exposed my family to unsafe move out conditions, lied and broke their contract by hiring undocumented and unlicensed movers who dumped all of my Grandmother’s personal items into a Pods container in the parking lot in 90 degree heat. All of my grandmothers jewelry (Including her wedding rings) was stolen from her room during the move-out process. Despite assurances beforehand by Spectrum Retirement, LLC that the Garden’s management team would personally oversee the move- out with a professional service under the guise of COVID-19 protocols, no one showed up as promised except for a local and unlicensed team of two day laborers who were contracted for at the last minute. Spectrum Retirement, LLC would not allow even one family member in full safety compliance to be present while unsupervised day laborers handled the move of my grandmothers possessions. On the day of the move-out, one of the day-laborers , in a fit of rage, (cruelly subjected a whole wing of the residence and the residents to a profanity laced tirade and was untested to boot! Knowing well how professional and caring the staff of Gardens at Westlake had been, I am sure they must have been outraged and saddened by Spectrum’s mis-handling of our family ‘s last days as part of the community. This experience made a mockery of Spectrum Retirement LLC’s stated corporate values of Integrity, Respect, Excellence and Stewardship. Be careful of this place and keep a close eye on your loved ones and their possessions.

My mother-in-law was there after a trip to the hospital for rehabilitation. Never have I nor my family been treated with more disrespect in our lives. My family member received a phone call one morning that the nurse found her on the floor when she checked on her. How does this happen when her bed had side rails I will never understand.We were told that she was refusing PT and not participating. They then kept pushing us to get her out of there since they could no longer get any money from Medicare. [Name removed] the social worker and [name removed] the nurse manager actually yelled at us over the phone and would not even allow us to finish a sentence. [Name removed] actually lied about a conversation she had with my family member previously. Then [name removed] told us if we did not have arrangements made by the time they were discharging her that we would have to pay a full month's rent to keep her there even if we were only going to keep her there a few extra days. They would reimburse us at some point for the money not used. We do not have that kind of money to have them hold it until they could pay us back.They told the home health nurse that she was a two person lift and incontinent. When she returned home she got up and walked with help to the bathroom. She have never once been incontinent since she returned home. We feel like they never even attempted any kind of treatment and they were just collecting a payment from Medicare. I would never recommend this facility for anyone.

Under Coronavirus lockdown they won’t even get my mom groceries. $5000 a month??? Said family is dropping stuff off. We live out of state

Too soon to review. Still in utter shock after the loss of of mother. Hoping Brookdale Northville. Admits their horrible care and makes significant changes.

Do not put your loved one in this place!!! First of all its so dirty. They only have 3-4aides for 87 residents. Most residents in the. Assisted living have dementia and need a lot more care then they provide. My mom has been there for 1 year. They make her bed and don't change the sheets that are wet from the night before, they just pull the covers up. They never come to help get her ready in the morning or to help get her ready for bed. While I was there, the mead tech put an already used mask on my mom for her breathing treatments. The staff doesn't care about the residents but care about their social lives. I have witnessed residents screaming for help and the CNA s walk by and will say, not my problem! ! They only care about taking your money, not your loved ones!!!! The head nurse is so nasty to everyone.

I am not very happy with the way this facility is taking care of my grandparents. They ignore their needs, give them medicine that isn't even theirs, and does not listen to their concerns or help them when they need help in a timely manner.

My mother developed a bed sore at elmcroft after only 3 weeks... it was stage four meaning it was down to the bone or tendons and wold never heal. She was moved to another facility and died 4 weeks later possibly from the infection of the wound that developed under their watch. Had they been providing proper care this should not have happened.

Our experience at Rittenhouse of Portage was an awful one. This is not the place to leave a loved one if you want to sleep at night.

This facility is toxic and unsanitized. The air is hot and muggy. Very easily for residents to become ill. It has a foul smell similar to mildew. The ceiling is leaking in many areas. They have a several areas with growing mold, which they tried to paint over it.The residents room smells horrible. They have dead and alive beds throughout the building. The building looks great on the outside but don't be fooled. Nurses are negligent towards the residents. Most of the residents has a cough. I wouldn't place anyone in this facility. This place really needs to be inspected.

What can I say but that my 77 year old father is in one excruciatingly bad heart breaking situation that NO one seems to reach out to him, nor talk to him, the man just want's LOVE and GOOD attention, not to mention that my father (at this beautiful high priced facility who does NOT mind his money) sits in his urinated pants for a week straight or longer and my father sits in a urine smelled wheelchair. Just being in a wheelchair not able to use his knees can't make it to the toilet well but he sure tries. No one changes his clothes NOR makes sure that this man changes his clothes, my father is always hungry, angry at Resident's, my father is being picked on by Resident's, my father is lonely, like I've mentioned over and over asking politely if someone can bathe, wash, help change my dad's clothes, wash those dirty smelly clothes instead of them smelly clothes piling up in his room, make sure he eats, helps make sure my dad brushes his teeth which this hasn't happened whatsoever in the long time he has been there. My father's ankles are swollen constantly, my father NEEDS to see a Dentist badly. It's almost like no one cares about this man. Every time I go visit my dad, SAME clothes, reeks of PEE, is HUNGRY, mad at Residents and I've seen these Residents pick on my dad, my dad comes off angry but he cries alot when alone. I live far away and it's not easy getting to the Nursing home but I often visit and I bring my dad a picnic, a snack, a meal, whatever he asks for. My dad's tooth fell out, his teeth are now brown, this man took EXCEPTIONAL care of himself in his younger days. I FEEL like everyone is just avoiding my dad waiting for him to pass...this isn't fair to live like that. I love my father. My heart breaks for my dad. The things I mentioned were the VERY reason my dad was unwillingly shoved into a Nursing home yet NOT a soul there seems to care although they say something will be done for my dad....but how long must this go on???? I, my Spouse and my children are his only Visitor. You would think there would be good Christian singing, good activities, encouraging words making sure Residents go to the Activity, the bathrooms are beyound gross. The appearance of this facility is beautiful. But Residents look angry and bored. I love Family Night!!! I just want BETTER care for my father. Someone to seriously work with my dad. Physical Therapy IS needed for my dad, some Residents smell like poop. I smell urine in the place. The Staff is nice, some of them, I mean this place collects alot of money off my dad. I do at times wonder why my dad HAS become highly defensive and scared yet not. I worry alot about what really goes on. Signed please please please someone help my dad. P.S-Also the Nurse SHOULD stand and MAKE sure my dad takes his medication EVERY time and tell him what he is taking and why. We have seen his medication under his bed alot. My dad's television sound DOESN'T work. Love that twice we walked in and my dad was happily singing in the piano area. EVERY time I say KEEP this confidential....I get that angry call from my dad that the Staff told him what I said. I've asked like alot if they could put my dad's NAVY picture up and yet NOPE. Although beautiful the outside area looks and is dangerous for Residents because the wheelchair can get caught between the small walk and the muddy grass. It's Medina what more can I say. Signed crying for better care for my dad. I know you're busy but come on. Keep this private. My dad needs Summer clothes. Sitting in a hot room with Winter clothes on.

If you want your loved one to sit for hours in their own waste....not just once, but many, many times....this is the place for you.

They are very dishonest and rob the elderly blind My father in law was there for over a year paying out of pocket over 50,000 they raised his monthly payment without a 30day notification. When we moved him in we were told he was in a medicaid room as of a month ago he went into medicaid pending status and the new director [name removed] told us hes not in a medicaid room and they don't have any available and to top it all off she tells my husband that they can no longer give him the care he needs and that he needs to go into a nursing home. So we found a nursing home moved him out of Brookdale in Ennis before [date removed] and now they are charging him for 10 days of May when he wasn't even there and [name removed] said he needed to leave and go to a nursing home. That is poor business and robbing my father in law.
